We highly recommend La Casa de Lucy, one of our kids was there from ~8months - 3.5 years and our other kiddo was there from ~8 months to 2years. In addition to everything that has already been said, I'd reiterate at Lucy's our older kiddo would bring back 2-3 creative art projects per week. Both kids loved the food (we'd often come pick up the kids and marvel at how good it smelled right outside the door). Lucy would also send super thoughtful gifts for Father's/Mother's day. This is of course in addition to Lucy's house is very clean, Lucy is organized, has prompt communication with parents, and just sorta...knows when something is up with the kids and how to handle it. Our kids still "call" Yeya on the phone to say hello. All to say, this place was like a second family to us for several years, we're very grateful both our kids had their foundation here. read more

We started looking for daycare for my daughter when I was 20 weeks pregnant and almost gave up because I toured so many in Redwood City and none of them felt right. Then we met Lucy and everything changed. I started my daughter with Lucy at 5 months old and she is still there at almost 2, and we are planning to send our second there after she is born (due soon!). I can't say enough good things about Lucy and Yeya. They clearly love the kids so much. They provide food and snacks which makes it a lot easier as a parent and will help you with nap schedules, potty training, etc. They have very little closures throughout the year compared to most other daycares. Beyond the care that Lucy and Yeya provide, it's clear my daughter loves her friends from there. We recently started doing some playdates with her daycare buddies and she is so happy to see them every time. Both of our girls attended La Casa de Lucy since they were each about seven months old until they were 3.5 years old and 2 years old, respectively. Lucy is our neighbor and she is a truly kindhearted woman. Her helpers, Olga and Yeya, are also extremely caring people and are so loved by our girls. Our older daughter enrolled in the heart of the pandemic, and it felt like a stroke of luck for us to have found Lucy and for her to have an open infant spot. We didn't even consider anywhere else. We also felt that Spanish Immersion would be a huge plus, although I was a little hesitant at first because I did not speak any Spanish. Lucy made it easy for us as first time parents, from warming up frozen milk to providing lunch and snacks, and helping us through the potty training journey. She was easy to reach over text message and would always work with us on any concern. Looking back, we are so grateful for our time at La Casa de Lucy. My daughter attended La Casa de Lucy from about age 1 until 3, and I plan to send my infant soon. The experience has been great, and I have nothing but positive things to say about the caretakers, environment, activities, and even the other kids and parents. One thing that stands out is the intimate and loving environment. When my kid names family members, she always includes Lucy and Yaya. The caretakers inspire her to enjoy and look forward to daycare. Especially the arts & crafts, which have greatly added to our home decor. I found La Casa de Lucy through a yelp review and am SO grateful I did. Now, leaving a review two years later, I'm hoping to pay back the favor to anyone looking for a caring, safe, stimulating, and joyful learning environment for their child. Lucy and her two assistants, Yeya and Olga, have become like family to us over the past two years our daughter has attended (she began at 5 months). In the two years we've been with the daycare, there has been absolutely no teacher turnover (having this consistency was so important for us!) and there has never been a day when our daughter didn't look forward with excitement to attending. The children are given home cooked meals throughout the day (all included in tuition) and regularly engage in creative arts, outdoor play, and music. The teachers are patient and deeply caring, and integrate the needs of all families with tremendous accommodation. As an anxious mom heading back to work after having my daughter, it meant the world to me to get regular updates on her wellbeing, eating, sleeping, and diapering. As our daughter grew older, they worked with us to potty train her and were not phased by setbacks (even when we were!). Lucy, Yeya, and Olga are each highly experienced, and it is clear that they genuinely the love the children they care for. We could not have asked for a better environment for our daughter these past two years, and are only leaving due to an out of state move. We sent my daughter to Casa de Lucy starting at 2 years old and are so glad we did. Not only does she provide a loving environment with lots of play, she also focuses on developing fine and large motor skills as any larger preschool does. I know this because we sent my son to the most expensive pre-school at the same exact age and we feel we got a better experience at Lucy's. In addition to all this, Lucy sends regular photos of what the kids do each day, provides food, and is very accommodating of parent and kid needs. For example, when I was ready to potty train my daughter I never got messages that she would put the diaper back on if she had accidents. Many daycare's will say that to you. She warmly supported our potty training approach (remove the diaper, train at home for 3 days over a long weekend, and then send her to daycare with no diaper except for naps). And when we had trouble with her potty training at home, Lucy was always there to answer my questions about how she was getting it to work at the daycare. These wonderful Yelp reviews helped us discover La Casa de Lucy Daycare a few years ago, and now we want to share more about our experience to help promote this amazing program. Our daughter joined the daycare at 5 months old and is ready to move on to TK, but it feels very bittersweet to make this transition given how much we love Lucy and her team members, Olga and Yeya. The daycare is open 8 am to 5 pm. There are spots for up to 4 babies and 8 toddlers. The indoor and outdoor spaces are maintained to always be clean, safe, bright, and welcoming. A freshly cooked, healthy lunch as well as a morning and afternoon snack plus cow's milk are provided for all the children every day. As 2 full-time working parents, we appreciated that there is a team of care providers with minimal closure days (federally recognized holidays and 2 weeks during winter break). Lucy communicates very promptly via text. She is always receptive to feedback about personal development goals you may have for your child regarding naps or feeding, for example, and very flexible about doctor's appointments or late drop-off/early pick-up times, for instance. Her many years of experience and positive attitude always put our minds and hearts at ease. Lucy, Olga, and Yeya are truly the most committed, enthusiastic, and nurturing individuals. They speak Spanish with the children, so it is an immersive learning experience, and our daughter has shown wonderful bilingual development thanks to their efforts. They encourage learning colors/numbers/shapes, celebrate the children's birthdays, help style little ones with the most adorable hair-dos, organize creative art projects, make every holiday festive and fun, and host an annual family meet and greet event. The most heartwarming aspect, and arguably the most important as a parent, is that our daughter is genuinely happy going to and coming back from this daycare. She has made wonderful friends, and we have gained a lovely community of families to connect with - often playing together at the park after pick-up or having play dates on the weekends. La Casa de Lucy Daycare has been our daughter's second home filled with so much love. We have sent our 2.5 year-old son to La Casa de Lucy for the last 8 months and are only leaving because we are moving out of the area. La Casa De Lucy has been an absolutely wonderful experience! My daughter started at Lucy's at 7 months of age in the middle of the pandemic. From the beginning Lucy was warm, welcoming, patient, and kind. The entire staff is exceptional and I must admit that my daughter absolutely loves Olga. If I could give a hundred stars, I would. Casa de Lucy was our first choice of daycare before our twins were even born. We were set to go when they turned five months but then Covid hit. We decided to travel and spend a few months in Miami with family, and then Florida's coronavirus case count ballooned and we returned home to Redwood City with the uncertainty of having two small babies at home and no childcare. Lucy communicated with us every step of the way and helped with the dozens of questions we had before choosing to finally place the boys in her care. Of course, I was concerned since my boys had been with only us since their birth, however, my worries were unfounded. The transition went so smoothly I could hardly believe it. I cannot express how invaluable it is to know that your kids are not only safe, but thriving in a warm and cheerful environment that they love and are happy to go to every morning. My stress level has gone down significantly, and I can actually get work done without feeling guilty that I'm not giving my kids the proper attention. My daughter O has been going to Lucy's daycare since she was 3 month old. As a first time parents, I was nervous. I wasn't so sure at the beginning if I want my daughter to go to Spanish daycare since I don't speak the language but I decide to check out. The first time I set my foot into the daycare. I remember that was around the Christmas time. Lucy had a huge Christmas tree and well decorated and a really nice big yard that kids could play. The whole space feels warm and invited. Most important thing is super clean. Might be more clean then my house. No kidding! :) I always see them cleaning every morning when I drop off O. The food they make is also smelling amazing. My husband is always jealous his own daughter could have nice meals everyday. Another thing I like Lucy's daycare is they know what they are doing. My daughter wouldn't take nap home but takes nap there. Sometimes I have difficulty to deal with O at home and I would ask how they do it in daycare. Lucy would share her experience and tell me how she do it in the daycare but she would not give me any advice if I didn't ask her which I really like that. Even though my daughter doesn't talk yet but every time I picked her up, she doesn't wanna come home. She is always so happy to go to daycare every morning. O is almost 2 years old. She is started to pick up some Spanish words and it was fun to learn from my daughter. We don't have relative live nearby so when my second daughter was coming early before my due date at 4am in the morning on a Sunday. We called Lucy very last minute to ask for help. She took care of O whole day sunday and overnight. Both of my daughters are now in Lucy's daycare. Lucy is like our family that we never have that lives nearby. There is a low teacher:student ratio. The children are very well supervised. Lucy herself is high-energy, warm, creative and caring. My son loves her. Lucy's helpers are also excellent. I can't believe it took me this long to write a review! I'd give Casa de Lucy more stars if I could! Lucy Flor and Yaya are the best women I have ever had the pleasure of leaving my kids with. My older son started there when he was two after a pretty bad experience at another daycare and so initially I was scared to try a new place. Lucy made us feel so welcomed and the women there took such amazing care of my son he never ever cried when I dropped him off which was new for us! He learned so much in his time there and I could not wait to get my second son in there! My little guy is about to start after a year of being home during Covid and I have never felt more comfortable leaving him with anyone else other than family. Almost 4 years ago I was daunted by the task of looking for a child care provider. My 1 year old had spent the last year at home with the help of my Spanish peaking mother in law. Alas, it was time for grandma to 'retire' to the warmer (and much more affordable) climate in San Diego. I searched through craigslist, yelp and polled acquaintances about day care options. My list was long, approx 30, ail in Redwood City (near my work). In an exhausting effort, I visited and interviewed all of them. I walked away from many of them feeling, dirty, disgusted, and/or feeling sad, and pessimistic. It seemed I would have to compromise on many items, to find a place I would be comfortable leaving my son. I was about to give up, and beg grandma to stay, when in a last ditch effort i did on last set of visits. As I walked into Lucy's house, i immediately gasped. It was neat, no, it was sparkling clean. It was peaceful, quiet (we went there during lunch time), and the toddlers who were there were peacefully eating on their healthy, balanced lunch. I felt immediately at home. Lucy's warm demeanor, and hospitable manner immediately put me at ease. I went down my check list: Licensed? - check. Clean? - check Kid to provider ratio balanced? - check. Ability to answer specific questions about daily structure? - check. Structured activities, and open playtime? - check. Positive reinforcement and discipline actions that conform to my beliefs? - check Flexible hours? - check. AND Full Spanish Immersion? - OMG!!!! CHECK!!!! Little did I really know what I gem I had really found! All of the above were awesome. With in a year my son was counting and recognizing letters. He was speaking decent Spanish (he was only going 2 days a week!) and had made some wonderful bonds with the other kids. He was always looking forward to going to Lucy's and it was, at times hard for me to see him happily walk away from me each morning, and head through the door. At age 2 I made the decision that it would be highly beneficial for him to go there full time. By 3 he was able to spell out words we saw along the road... A year ago we had a tough decision to make. Stay at Lucy's or take him to preschool? The many preschools we visited were unable to provide the aggressive academics he was getting at Lucy's or the full Spanish immersion. After interviewing a few, we decided that he would do best to stay with Lucy. He is headed to kindergarten in Sept. I am confident he is set for success. He reads and takes dictation in Spanish (and with my help in English too, now), and counts to 100. He is at a 1st grade level in academics, and is also a very social and well adjusted child. Yes, I had to put in the extra work to translate his learning in Spanish to equivalent in English, but we all know parental involvement is important in setting up a child for success. Without Lucy's i would be in a much different situation, worried and overwhelmed by this new upcoming transition. Lucy is someone i intend to have a lasting and ongoing relationship with, even after my son is no longer at her daycare. I feel deeply indebted to her for the amazing care she(and her staff) have provided him. I could not recommend her more highly than this. Casa de Lucy is exactly the kind of home daycare you want for your children- however she is usually full so stop by to visit and get on her wait list. Choosing a daycare for your children can be one of the most stressful things you do as a parent so it is important to check out the place you are considering and ask lots of questions such as the staff to child ratio, the safety procedures and if the staff has early childhood education training/ cpr training, etc. as well as if you can talk to some of the parents who currently send their children. My two children attended Lucy's home daycare from the age of 9 months to 3 years. Lucy's daycare is small, clean, safe, and provides healthy home cooked meals right in her kitchen. She is happy to give breast milk in bottles and provide parents with an hourly or daily report for young babies. Her staff helps with potty training, applies sunscreen, you name it. Her backyard has a play structure and lots of fun toys. Lucy is there and participates in the care, especially with the very young babies. Her staff is happy to teach your children spanish as well. There's probably not much I can say that hasn't been said here before - but let me add this: Lucy is FEE NOM IN AL! I started looking for daycare about 4 years ago when my daughter's current place didn't work out (basically I hated the teacher and the way she spoke to children). I was in a pickle, because I needed care asap, but didn't want to jump on the first open place we found especially with the last teacher leaving such a sour taste in our mouths. I can tell you it was the BEST decision we could have made. Within a short period of time my daughter was speaking fluently with our relatives in Mexico who only spoke spanish. But it wasn't just the teaching it was the amazing care and love that she and her helpers give to the kids! TRUE FAMILIA! Not only that - The lunches - amazing! I tell everyone I'd walk in and the kid's would be eating the most amazing meals like Salmon, Asparagus and rice NOT your typical Mac an Cheese out a box! I tell her - can I come for lunch? I moved my son there soon after, and he has thrived. It amazes me how much he's learned and retained! He's quite a shy guy, but comes home happy and excited about the days with his friends there. My daughter is in the 2nd grade now and my son will soon start Kinder, but moving on although exciting is somewhat sad! We started to take our daughter to casa de Lucy in January 2019. From the first day until the last we were so happy from the decision we made taking our daughter there. Our daughter loved every morning to go to Casa de Lucy. Yeya, Flor or Lucy would received her full of smiles and morning hugs. My twin daughters were 15 months old when they began attending Lucy's day care full time. When we met Lucia for the first time, we could see the halo floating above her head. Her eyes twinkled and she immediately made our children feel welcome and comfortable. We too were impressed at how clean her home was and we were thrilled with her giant backyard complete with play structure. Even with very little Spanish at home, our kids' first words were Spanglish. Now at 6 years old there are still things for which we use only the Spanish word. By 2 years old the girls could both count to 20 in Spanish and knew the Spanish alphabet. They really were quite fluent. Our girls were in Lucy's care for 4 full years until the summer before they went to kindergarten. She still loves our children as much as we do. and when they attended the day care, they would run to Lucy's arms every morning. We trusted her completely and she was always willing to accommodate the schedules of 2 working parents. When it was time for us to find another daycare for our daughter, I went to yelp and searched under Redwood City, given we needed a daycare that was close to where we worked, and Lucy's daycare was at the top of the list. I read the positive reviews, w/c made me want to learn more. I went to her website and was impressed. I called and spoke to Lucy. I liked that she sounded friendly, answered all my questions, and was accomodating w/ scheduling a visit. My husband, myself, and our daughter, visited Lucy's daycare the next day. As soon as we entered her house, we were impressed by the cleanliness and the coziness the house made us feel. We checked out the kids' main area, w/c was nicely decorated, bright, had tables and chairs for the kids to use during lessons, closet space for toys, and especially a separate bathroom specifically designed for toddlers|kids. It had a mini toilet and sink :o) There was ample space in the backyard as well for kids to ride bikes and play in the swing, slide, and sandbox. Because Lucy and her assistants fluently spoke to the kids in Spanish, we jumped to the idea of our daughter learning Spanish. She's been there for almost 4 months and has learned a lot. At almost 30 months, she can say phrases and words and even count 1-10 in Spanish. We also love that Lucy has different activities for the kids. We're always excited to find out what our daughter has done for the day whether it was a cut-out Christmas tree, snowman, Halloween cat, or turkey that she colored and decorated. Another kudos for Lucy's daycare is that she provides lunch for the kids. She doesn't give the kids junkfoods. Being a clean freak, I am quite particular with how my daughter looks and smell when we pick her up. I appreciate that my daughter is as clean as when we dropped her off. Another sign that Lucy's place was great and it didn't have to be based on what my husband and I saw or thought, but what our daughter had to say after only being with Lucy for a couple of days. I picked her up in the afternoon and as we walked back to the car, she told me, "Mommy, I like Lucy. She's nice." To this day, my daughter is always excited to go to Lucy's daycare. read more

I must say I completely agree with all the reviews here. I have two children that attend Lucy's daycare. One is 4 and the other is 2. My kids absolutely love her and her staff. This is by far the best daycare experience I have had. I also had decided to leave my 4 year old with Lucy until Kindergarden. From the learning activities, projects and nutritious meals what can one say but oh my gosh, what a great daycare!! And you can feel comfortable that your child is in a good caring safe place. I have recently changed jobs and I am forced to move the kids out of Lucy's daycare, and its one of the hardest things I have done. We will miss Lucy and her staff dearly! All I can say is that I highly recommend Lucy's daycare and I wouldn't think twice of bringing them back if we were in the area once again. read more

My son went to Lucy's for close to two years. He was 1.5 when he started and until he left, there was not a single day when he didn't want to go. Lucy and her fellow teachers are kind, caring, affectionate and very responsible. Lucy is very patient and is reachable at any time. I've texted and called her atleast couple of times a week esp when my son was sick or had Qs. My son has a bond with all three. He also learnt quite a bit of Spanish during the time along with making some fun frineds. My experience at Casa de Lucy has inspired me to finally give a review on Yelp after being a bad Yelper for years. I could write all day about Casa de Lucy, but will try to be concise here. If I started over again, I would take all my children to her as early as possible and let them stay with Lucy as long as possible. I would recommend Lucy to all my friends. One of the best decisions we made in our children's lives thus far (thanks to my wife who found Lucy). Ended our daytime child care stress, full stop. Never looked back. Very comforting to know you have done something right. The kids are happy, feel loved, are learning a lot and progressing well. Lucy is the most wonderful care-giver of the many we have known. More on that below. The caretakers who work with her share her qualities. Casa de Lucy is nurturing - they clearly love the kids. The are joyous and excited when they open the door to greet our son and daughter, each day starts with a big hug and asking about them and telling them about the day to come. The kids feel loved. Heck I feel loved just dropping them off! She makes my day every morning. At Casa de Lucy there's always something going on in the kitchen - they cook hearty and healthy food, and my son, who would eat nothing if he could get away with it, eats full meals and seconds at Lucy's. I do not have to worry about breakfast with the kids, they eat at Lucy's and better than they do at home. Lucy is flexible and patient while disciplined. She spent a lot of one-on-one time with our son who needed help transitioning from being home to coming to day care. She was also patient with Daddy who had some trouble letting the kid stay on his own. She sent us photos every day to show us how he was doing and his progress. He quickly loved it and socializing with the others. They have a full day of activities - breakfast, dancing/singing, arts/crafts, numbers/letters/words, outdoor time, snack, nap, etc. Our son (and daughter) are always bringing home new school work and art. We can't get him to nap, Lucy does it every day. There are lots of things for the kids to do, multiple play areas indoors and out, the backyard is a little kid's dream. Everything is in Spanish. My kid carries on whole conversations with his Spanish grandmother because of what he's learned at Lucy's. I have had to learn a little bit myself just to keep up! Lucy is disciplined around schedule, activities, behavior. The kids learn to socialize, share, play together, clean up, resolve conflicts, behavior and consequences, etc. My son actually likes to clean up?! Lucy runs a tight ship! My son one day just started using the toilet. While I could try to fool myself that reading books and explaining what to do was the key, or luck, I know Lucy's was a big part of it. Diapers and pullups were gone right away cold turkey, even at night. Not one accident. Took that potentially painful process right off the list. My son tells me cool things that I know he must have learned from Lucy's. Lucy is very proactive and responsive to parents. Returns texts right away, photos, calls, handles special requests, reports on activities and how the kid is doing, whatever is needed. She resolves issues fully and quickly so we can be comfortable that our kids are in the best place they could be. Lucy, if you couldn't tell already, is imminently loveable, with lots of love and energy for those around her. I sleep very well at night knowing my children will be in the best hands at Lucy's tomorrow. read more

Both of my children have grown up in Lucy's care and I can't say enough good things about our experience. My daughter started at around 3 months old and just graduated after being there for 3+ years. My son also went for ~3 years. Both thrived in this environment. Lucy and her staff are so patient, warm, and loving. The indoor area and outdoor playground are clean, organized, and in great condition. My kids loved the home cooked food and would eat Lucy's frijoles but not mine. They learned a great deal of Spanish and always looked forward to going there. I am still very close to many of the families that we met at Lucy's. I would highly recommend it to others. read more

OMG, this place is amazing. When I came across thier craigslist posting I checked out thier website and was impressed right away. I contacted, made an appointment to meet and... the rest is history. My wife and I love Casa de Lucy. Lucy, Dulce, Lupita, and the entire staff are caring and responsible. The place is clean, the food is healthy, and the environment is loving. Our little girl has a big smile during drop offs and pick ups. My wife and I found the perfect daycare. It is such a blessing to have complete peace of mind when dropping off our little one. If you are fortunate enough to get into Lucy's then thank your lucky stars. My son has just "graduated" from Lucy's on his way to preschool but my daughter thankfully will be there for a few more years. From the start Lucy has been the most loving caretaker you could find - from the moment she opens the door with that huge smile to the last minute of the day when she hugs your child tight on his way out the door. I honestly don't know where to begin but I will start with a few highlights. In addition to the very loving environment, Lucy and her team make wonderful nutritious meals everyday, make sure they stay on a schedule (my son sleeps his 1 1/2 - 2 hr nap each day - better than at home!) and makes sure they get plenty of exercise and outdoor time. They also do arts and crafts and come home everyday with something that they have done. Lucy also helped my son to potty train - and made what could have been a tough process very easy. Lucy also understands that each child is different - she was incredibly patient when my son who was 14 months at the time had a hard time transitioning at the start - he literally would not leave her side for his first month - and this was during when she was planning her wedding..! It wasn't long though before he ran into her arms and couldn't wait to to start the day with his friends. Lucy is also beyond just a daycare - my son has learned so much - from his letters, to his numbers, to his colors - and is able to trace/connect all of it together. Oh - all of this on top of being Spanish immersion! Lucy also has a great team helping her - all of them as sweet and organized as she is - and my son never stops talking about all of them. I also want to mention for all those working parents out there that it can be hard at first to bring your child to daycare - I think of my children visiting at my friend Lucy's house - and I know they safe, sound and happy - and I have never looked back. We started my youngest at Lucy's when he was 3 1/2 months old. I met with a lot of other providers and kept comparing them to Lucy. She and all of her helpers are awesome and warm and caring. When my husband and I initially met with her we immediately liked her and felt like everything was set up really nicely for the kids and her backyard is huge with lots of stuff for the kiddies to do. So glad we chose her and that our little guy will be learning spanish. My husband and I don't speak spanish but we don't find that to be a problem at all. I would highly recommend Lucy! read more

We moved to Redwood City about 5 years ago and know very little about the area. Finding a daycare for my baby was challenging. I called dozens of family daycare and centers. I visited 5 family daycare before meeting Lucy. The first daycare I saw was disgusting. An old lady with dirty mats, old toys, and cribs. She was coughing and still took care of a baby that day. I was scared and shocked. How can I bring my baby here? This must be the worst daycare I ran into because the preceding daycare were better and better. Despite seeing many decent daycare, I have to say Lucy daycare stood out. I couldn't believe I found this plays and had no doubt that this was the perfect place for my son. Her house is just not clean but beautiful. She charges the average price in that area which I thought was too much compare to San Francisco. However, she was willing to give me an adjustment that fit my pocket for dropping him off late and picking him up early. She never charged us extra for dropping him off earlier than arranged and picking him up later at times. Best of all is that she teaches Spanish. I'm very excited about my son learning Spanish. I've seen some work that the older kids had done and it's incredible. They can read and write Spanish at the age of 4. You can't find anything like this anywhere. My son was with her for about 7 months and I plan to leave him there until he starts kindergarten. I don't think I can find a better preschool for him than where his already at. Linh read more

Simply the best day care!! Lucy and her staff are amazing!! They are super caring and kind to the kids and treat them as if they are their own. My son went here for almost 2 years from 2 1/2 - 4 yrs old. He knew no Spanish at all (we don't speak Spanish at home). In his short time there, he learned to speak and understand Spanish. It's amazing, he picked it up so quickly. He loved it there. They cook great meals for the kids, do lots of fun activities and have an awesome yard for the kids to play in. My son learned a lot while he was there and was very well taken care of. I highly recommend Lucy's daycare!! read more
