My son ended up going for almost 2 years! After just a month we saw how much my son loved it and was learning. He had just turned 2, we thought the transition would be hard but he loved it and he loved Sheila. She truly cares for the kids. The environment and activities were engaging. He often came home singing new songs, with new crafts/activities, and a larger Spanish vocabulary, it was great. Sheila even helped support us when he began potty training and really helped us getting it done. We left because my son got into a preschool program but he will often still ask about his little friends and if he is going to Sheilas. Being a first time mom finding a place we trusted was a priority, little learners checked all the boxes and we feel we got so lucky to have found it.

Reyna took care of first my son, and then my daughter…read moreover a period of 4.5 years, so she cared for them from the infant stage to ages three and four when they went to preschool. We found her when we first moved to the area and quickly needed to find daycare to start new jobs, and she quickly became an important anchor for us in this community. Reyna feeds the kids home-cooked meals and really helped our picky eater to try and like new foods. (Also, not having to pack a lunch and snacks for the kids every day saves you so much time!) She does a range of arts and crafts projects with the kids, workbooks for the older kids, story time, and trips to the park/playground (interior to her complex) twice a day. She taught our kids the alphabet and their numbers (in English and Spanish) before we thought to, and potty-trained both kids (a HUGE help). Especially as first-time parents, she helped us navigate a lot of "firsts." She is very flexible and speaks to the kids in English and/or Spanish (whichever the parents prefer). Our kids made great friends at her daycare, and were well-prepared when they transitioned to preschool. Most importantly, she really knows and loves the kids, and tailors her care to their needs and interests. Our kids adore her (and often asked to go to her house even on weekends). I'm very sad not to see her every day anymore, but will still be bringing my kids to her house on school breaks and luckily will still have her in our lives.

This is of course in addition to Lucy's house is very clean, Lucy is organized, has prompt communication with parents, and just sorta...knows when something is up with the kids and how to handle it. Our kids still "call" Yeya on the phone to say hello. All to say, this place was like a second family to us for several years, we're very grateful both our kids had their foundation here.

They provide food and snacks which makes it a lot easier as a parent and will help you with nap schedules, potty training, etc. They have very little closures throughout the year compared to most other daycares. The admin staff, especially Ms. Lopez, is amazing and really cares about the students. Ms. Lopez is "on the ground" enough that she knows the kids names and they all say hi to her when they see her. The preschool teachers, Ms. Gwen, Ms. Margaret and Ms. Kim, are phenomenal. They approach any issues with kindness and sensitivity. They are also firm with the kids and set good boundaries and routines. Finding that balance is typically difficult, but they do it with finesse! The curriculum here, even with the preschool class, sets the kids up for success in higher grades. It balances play and fun with learning. From letter recognition to name writing to "STEM" - via tiny science experiments - music and Spanish, outdoor play and story time, they do it all. Since day one, my child has been excited to go each day and has thrived in the Harper environment. The learning progress I've seen, especially at such a young age, is astounding. Our son joined the Kindergarten program halfway through the year in Jan '25. He had been at a well-regarded RWC public school, but unfortunately he struggled there with behavior, academic, and motivation issues. Basically, he was slipping through the cracks. He was regressing academically, and most worryingly to me, he was starting to hate going to school. He started at Harper at the mid-year break. There was certainly an adjustment period - the Harper kids were *so* far ahead academically. But, the curriculum is individualized and the support was tremendous. It was amazing how quickly he improved on all fronts: behavior, academics, and motivation. He literally sprints from the car to class each morning. He is so excited and talks about what he learns constantly. He has developed a positive attitude, curiosity, and emotional maturity beyond anything we could have hoped for. Ms. Shaynee, his teacher, is an absolute rock star. We feel so lucky to have had her as his teacher. The class size for elementary grades at Harper is absurdly small right now. Like, 5-10 kids. At first, I thought it would be weird. But it's actually a wonderful number for this age, and it makes Harper such an incredible deal. It's obviously a new school and a new program, and I'm hoping it grows with him as he progresses through the grades. Overall, if you are looking for a private elementary, I just can't recommend Harper enough. No private school in this area is cheap, but I feel we get incredible value for our dollar. The fact that the aftercare is so affordable helps. Also, we hear that if you have multiple kids there then the cost goes down a lot.
