Last night my boyfriend who works out of town was finally home after three weeks, and we decided we wanted to out to a fine dining restaurant for dinner, just the two of us on a romantic date. We had reservations at another place, but when we walked in it was loud and there was a a wait, so we decided to try another restaurant and stumbled upon La Casa; and that was the best choice I made that night. We had no reservations, but there wasn't a wait and the waitress who seated us joked with us as she sat us down, we waited a minute for her to grab menus, and that was it. Our server came around and poured us water, greeted us and asked if we had any questions, pointed out the drink menu and gave us a few minutes to look. She was on top of everything, recommending items, being honest with us with wait times for the time the food needs to cook, etc. She then took our drink orders, our appetizer order and we browsed the menu again for our main meal. We started with a brushcetta, and then I ordered the Ricotta di Pasta and my boyfriend ordered the Beef Tenderloin. They also served us fresh hot bread with a spicy garlic butter, it was delicious. Our brushcetta then came out and it had a delicious pesto and balsamic reduction and the flatbread it was on was just perfect; about 15 minutes later our actual meals came out, they were hot and everything was perfect. My boyfriend asked for medium rare and it's exactly what he got, the Ricotta di Pasta was hot, flavourful and very filing. The servings were more than enough and I brought some home. The whole ambiance of the place was perfect, there were several groups talking in the background, but it wasn't so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. I love places that have this kind of ambiance, I felt relaxed and I enjoyed every moment of my meal, and it was such a great experience. Our server was on top of everything. She was personable and friendly, joked and conversed with us. This was an absolutely perfect experience and I definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Let me start by saying what a great meal! The setting was perfect for a romantic date on a Friday night; raining cats and dogs, roaring thunder, blinding lightning, and a dimly lit restaurant that smelled like fresh bread. The menu is impressive. We started with a pear and Parmesan salad with a honey mustard vinaigrette. Hands down one of the greatest salads I've ever had. It was a mountain of pale, pale frisée with slices of poached pears, large shavings of parm, roasted pecans and a very light but distinct dressing. Fantastic. We then had the meatballs on sourdough. Not too impressive for me since the meatballs were tough and had too much red pepper. The sauce was loaded with garlic, too, which I didn't quite get. They sat on a slice of thick sourdough, which in the end tasted like any other bread since it quickly soaked up the sauce. Not the best appetizer. For my main, I took the rack of lamb on a bed of ratatouille and fingerlings. Lamb had a pistachio and hemp seed crust, which sounds amazing but I couldn't find too much of it on the meat. Regardless, the dish was absolutely breathtakingly good. My girlfriend had the lobster pasta and it tasted like a 5 star dish. Slightly spicy, very generous portion, and the pasta had the perfect bite that only fresh pasta has. Win. I would not hesitate to take a date here. Good food, amazing customer service and owners, and a nice selection of wines.

Delicious food, amazing service…read more Spent the weekend in London, Ontario and was hunting down a place for a last minute birthday celebration. I'm not familiar with the area, so I turned to Yelp for restaurant recommendations. Pleased to say, I can always trust my fellow Yelpies and their reviews. Found this place as one of the top ranked in London. It was a little last minute, but I managed to secure a reservation for two on a Friday afternoon for the following evening. When we arrived, we were politely greeted by the owner who was incredibly friendly. It's a small restaurant, but lively at the same time. I would say, definitely dress for the occasion. We looked through the menu and decided on Ricotta Gnudi with pancetta and brussel sprouts in a butter sauce for appetizer. Deeeelicious. For mains, we ordered the casarecce with beef tenderloin tips, in a creamy cambozola and chive sauce and potato gnocchi with pork ragu. You know how usually in fancy restaurants, portion sizes are so tiny that you have to hit up McD afterwards? This was not the case. What a pleasant surprise! The portion sizes were big enough that we managed to be full from dinner AND have enough to pack two boxes full! For dessert we ordered this peachy dessert. Unfortunately I don't have the name (tried searching it and realized their menus change quite often!). It was good, but I would have to say the appetizer and entrees were my favourite. Highly recommend this place and would come again!

We decided on the following dishes: I) Seasonal grilled crostini II) Grilled octopus III) Whole wheat angel hair with jumbo prawns & scallops The crostini was by far my favourite. The mixture of duck, coriander, and toppings made for a delectable appetizer. However, the octopus was not what I expected. I think I had in my head a more tender texture typically found with squid tentacles. The octopus was oddly soft/chewy, and threw my tongue into a bit of a limbo. The pasta was delicious - a reliable seafood dish that was a surprisingly decent portion even when shared. The service stood out to me because we only ordered one entree, and the waitress recognized that we would likely be sharing, and brought it out to us already split up on two separate plates. I had never experienced such forethought, and truly appreciated the gesture. Though prices are a bit higher than other Italian joints in London, I do think Abruzzi is worth a visit.

I tried the Garlic's burger, which was okay, but nothing special, though still decent. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy, but the flavor wasn't really to my liking--it's heavily mushroom-based, so mushroom lovers might enjoy it more. I wished it had more of a nutty flavor. The pizza, however, was the star of the show. It was genuinely excellent, topped with pesto, arugula, and ham. It was so good that I still miss it! Overall, it was a good place to visit, especially after hearing some positive feedback from others. I think the dinner menu and service might offer a better experience.

You *smell* it on the way in and it's positively fabulous how potent the garlic is. Service staff were stellar too, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys if you're nearby! Very kind service staff from start to finish. Didn't matter who's table it was, we were treated very well and had swift actions despite their busy peak hours. Interior is lovingly local with loads of signed art posters of shows while keeping furniture of decor looking pretty modern. Bread 5/5 Usually I highly prefer warm bread, but the bread was a nice spongey foccacia with a lovely chew paired with a fresh spicy olive oil dip. Good enough for some seconds! Garlic bisque - 5/5 Fresh black pepper grind for this boy as well! Super creamy, super delcious, fully delivers on all the garlicky glory. It was their only soup but I'd have another one to be frank. Didn't get a good picture of this sadly, but nice swirl presentation with the oil drizzle. Garlic frites - 5/5 This was probably the only dish I didn't think was garlic'ked to the high heavens, but it did have a nice light fry to them with a good and balanced seasoning to them. I'm not familiar with this cheese they use a lot of, but it does have a nice complexity to it without too much grease. The dip though, it was just beautiful with how smokey and much umami it had with a light citric bite at the end. Garlic's Burger - 4/5 The only critique I had with this was with the bun, which was unfortunately rather dry / thick compared to the burger itself. Otherwise it works pretty well in terms of composition as the buttery goodness of the roll blends with the rather tender patty (despite their 3oz. sizing they were remarkably tender even without much pink at all). The side we got was their caeser (option for fries or soup alternative). Very creamy (and garlicky, as promised by the name). Hot and smokey fettucine - 5/5 It was nothing like I imagined it when I ordered it, but remarkably creative as it was rather far from typical italian that I've had. Technique wise it was top notch, which edged it closer to a thai or chinese dry noodle stir fry without any obvious sauce base (afaik just oil and spicy pepper). Very solid amount of heat as a good medium for the spicy-minded, which is surprising given that it's the only item on the menu marked spicy. Flavor-wise the chicken came out closer to what I'd imagine sausage to be at with how smokey it tasted, but with a nice aroma to it from browning the noodles and garlic.
