Ok first of all let me say !! We have been to this place with a tour bus that came from chichenitza !! We love Valladolid ! The food and service here was great!!! Ambiance is great with all the statues and stuff here!! This is a must when doing a tour to the ruins!! Do the cenote ( swim hole) after is a must!!! Oh!! They serve beer and drinks here also!! Came here as part of out tour for Chitchen Itza. Decorative, outdoor venue that serves food buffet style. Food was extremely delicious and flavorful, and there were plenty of options as well. Our server was very attentive as well. Sad to know that this will probably be the only time I'll ever visit, but very glad to have done so. read more

We came for a buffet here and we were astonished with the food and the ambiance of this place. An excellent customer service with plenty of food options for traditional Mexican and continental. I honestly don't understand the amount of five-star reviews for this restaurant. After visiting Chichen Itza, we were so excited for an authentic Yucatan experience, but were left disappointed. This was our first stop once we arrived in town and we picked an amazing spot. The location is beautiful. We sat in the courtyard and ordered a yucatan sampler platter and a few frozen drinks. The food came out quickly and we enjoyed all of it. We also started with some guacamole which was tasty as well. Overall, it was a great spot for food and drink. It was very scenic. Buffet ends at 5 so make sure you come early to partake in a more leisurely buffet experience. The thing with a buffet is, the quality is not that great, but you get a lot of variety for the price. We had a lot of traditional Yucatan dishes outside of this place that was much better. But if you had to just go all in, then sure, this will get you everything in one spot. I guess the one great thing about this place is the all you can drink Corona and juices. They also had a lovely coconut ice cream (just skip all the sorbets!). read more

Not only is the interior decor + ambiance was freaking mind-blowing, the food itself is amazing and did I mention, extremely affordable? We came here for dinner after we stopped by Chichen Itza + cenote. Our driver recommended we stop by this restaurant, and ordered for us. We got the platters, and fresh juices/beverages (mango and horchata were by far our favorite). The platters included meat, vegetables, cheese, tortilla + more. The flavors were strong and tasteful. We ordered enough food for 8 people (and more that we weren't even able to finish), and spent only about $50 USD. Is that's not affordable then I don't know what to tell you. Also, if you have time, stop by the town square and little shops in Valladolid. read more

La Casona de Valladolid was a pleasant surprise stop during a booked tour to Chichen Itza by the Xcaret Hotel. I did not have any expectations going in and honestly, it was my favorite place to visit during the tour. The food is muy delicioso and the drinks are cheap! $2.50 USD for a large glass of tamarind tequila is a price sent by the Mayan gods. The food is impeccable and I could not get enough of the salbuches and panuchos. I doused them with the habanero salsa and boy, did it wake my ass up! I fell in love with these dishes and the cook indulged my mother and I on how to make them at home. The staff are incredibly friendly and do their absolute best to keep the restaurant running smoothly. The food was all inclusive to our tour but we left a nice tip for our servers as their customer service went above and beyond to treat us like family. We came in a bit early for dinner but didn't want to wait another hour or so to be able to order dinner a la carte so we decided to try the buffet style lunch and it was very good. They had very authentic Mexican meals and the service was excellent even though we were the last ones here since they were getting ready to close and set up for dinner. We visited la casona for lunch buffet. The restaurant was decided by the tour company which we took to visit xchen itza. Ambience of the restaurant is really good. It has the antique look and staffs are really friendly. There were lots of options with respect to food. The name display was only in Spanish and we could barely understand if a particular item had meat in it. Very few options for vegetarian and you have to come up with some creative ideas to make some mix and match tacos with the veggies , guacamole, cheese and cream. Taste was average and could see people just putting the hands to take the food. Tortillas are freshly made so you can try them. You can try some desserts too. You might not have much options if you take the bus toor as you spend a lot on those tours. read more

The food was pretty standard...nothing too special, but still a lot better than the food at our all inclusive resort. If you're taking a day trip to the pyramids at Chichen Itza from either Cancun or Playa Del Carmen this restaurant in this perfect little Pueblo is great place to stop in for some authentic Yucatan food. Entering this place feels like entering an 18th century hacienda. With it's open courtyard setting and cool breeze in the evening this place is wonderful to eat outdoors in an otherwise very humid climate. All the XCaret buses seem to stop here for lunch around the same time so it was quite crowded when we were there and it was pretty much every man/woman/child for him/herself. There is a huge buffet with quite a lot of variety of both Mexican and American-ized foods, including an US-style salad bar. For dessert tapioca, rice pudding, various small pastries and brownies, and sorbet. The food was average and the service nearly nonexistent. IMHO, nothing to go out of your way for, but a good place to take kids. read more
