Great supermarket with anything and everything you could possibly need while in town. They have a large parking lot if you are driving there and they are right off the main road if you are walking there. I have been there now multiple times on various trips to SJC and have always founded everything our group has needed. We even went to their sister store across the street this year, but ended up coming back because La Comer has more reasonable prices on everything. read more

It was my first time visiting San Jose Del Cabo. I was staying there for about a week so my wife and I both knew that we were gonna need some groceries. We had heard a few good things about this place so we decided to stop by. Upon entering, I was amazed at this place had absolutely everything that I can think of from food to electronics to barbecue grills and everything else in between. All the staff was very friendly. The store itself was super clean and immaculate. They had everything that we needed from fresh fruit, to fresh prepared foods, to even cook foods. They also have a bakery section as well as a café. I definitely had to stop by the bakery section to pick up some pan Dulce and they had an array of baked goods, the smell just walking by was so inviting that I did not wanna leave. We were able to walk to hear from our hotel step outside and quickly just get a cab back to our hotel room. The only downside that I didn't wanna mention is that there are people that are working with the timeshares in the area that are walking around near the front of the store where the registers are. read more

This is our go to supermercado while in SJD. They have everything you need to stock your kitchen and more. Fresh salsas, fresh fruit, pastries and refreshing drinks are always on the list. We also love their homemade chips enough to take a bag or two home with us. read more

Such a large store! I was told this was the best supermarket in the world and it didn't disappoint. There's aisles and aisles of every single thing that you could imagine, so super happy that we stopped by here as our first stop on our trip. Super quick to check out as well. We love coming to La Comer just to check out the grocery here in San Jose del Cabo. It is just a few minutes walk from our resort and that goes the same with the other restaurants around the area. It is situated in a multi-level strip mall for context. Think Walmart Supercenter in terms of the breath of items that are found in this grocery. Of course there are your food items, but also clothing, electronics, a pharmacy, and of course Cabo merch for visitors. Food selection is a lot. We were able to shop for some chocolates to brig back to friends and family. I did note though that the prices of food is comparable and sometimes even more expensive that back home, yikes! Anyways, we came here multiple times just to look around and shop some. read more

Really great market that has pretty much everything you need. I can't help but think maybe the prices are geared towards the vacationers rather than the locals but it's still a great way to stock up on essentials. Great grocery store! Best part is the bakery! Worst part is the guy who comes around for a time share spiel. He spots the tourists from a mile away. This is another place that we stopped by before heading to the airport. This location was much bigger than other locations we went to. La Comer is similar to Target or Walmart in the US, where you could get groceries, souvenirs, clothes, and a lot of items you need in your daily life. They had a lot of Cabo-themed clothes for cheap, which is a good souvenir option - you can't really expect that high of a quality out of them though. Staff are nice and friendly. It was also convenient that you can scan items on little machines mounted throughout the store, and it would show the price in both USD and peso. I'm docking a star for the bathroom smelling bad - it's located right outside of the store. read more

Be aware that a charge is slipped into the bill for Golden Hills y Pets Club. Really?! We have been buying pico de gallo (salsa Mexicana) there for years and it has always been great. Today not so much. Very spicy but yet lacking flavor. Overall it is a good place to get groceries. The store is clean and well maintained. Note that the people offering to help are timeshare salespeople but that is typical for Mexico. The bakery is excellent. Well organized with big selection of delicious options. I'm driving away from this supermarket with fresh tortillas in the trunk along with my other comestibles for one week stay in Cabo area. The tortillas smells so divine. I think we should pull over and eat them immediately. There was pretty much everything you wanted at this place, including lots of local fish, which there were fillet for you on site. There are also imported goods of all kinds at considerable expense. The fruits and vegetables look at standing and I can't wait to cook them during my vacation. read more

This is one of the only acts in town if you want groceries, other than maybe a Mom and Pop establishment or megastores like Costco or Walmart (and I just couldn't get myself to go to the 2 giants while in Mexico). La Comer pretty much has anything you need: groceries, liquor, baked goods, odds and ends like coolers, etc. They even have an on-site restaurant with good, reasonably-priced pizza. I enjoyed checking out the unique ways the store presented your food choices. The giant Grouper in the fish department was a standout. What surprised me, though, was that most of the eggs were sitting out at room temperature and the lack of quality of certain produce. I guess we're used to super-fresh food in the U.S. and having everything at our fingertips has spoiled me. When you travel to foreign countries, you really see how good we have it here. Many staff there speak good English and will approach you if you look lost. Normi, a sweet young woman who worked there, was especially helpful. On the flip side, quite a few of the guys who approached us were pushing dinner cruises and other entertainment options out of Cabo San Lucas. It was a bit overwhelming. My suggestion, if you don't want to get approached by salespeople, is either say you're leaving the next day or act like you know where you're going. Because we stayed in a condo while in SJdC, we did go back to La Comer often to restock our food supply. But if I had a better option, I'd take it. Never-the-less, it has lots of stuff. And the best part is that there are numerous shops around there, including a fishing tackle store, a coffee shop, and a bank if you need to exchange currency. read more

Why it's a poor choice for groceries: There was a lot of moldy fruit and veggies. The non moldy stuff was on it's way there. The tomatoes were not moldy but were super soft. The avocados were super soft. Finally we found a couple less soft but 2 days later they were brown inside. I guess we should have eaten them same day only. I wish I had taken photos to show. So many eggs were put by staff on a shelf next to the produce where they were nor refrigerated! Meanwhile there was a big hole where the eggs should be in the fridge area. The eggs were in 2 different places in the refrigerated area and a third unrefridgerated. The milk expired in one week! Before I left Portland I bought my parents milk that expired in 3 weeks. 3! We bought 2 smaller milks and in less than a week the 2nd unopened  smaller one smelled spoiled, we threw it out without drinking any. The only plant based refrigerated milk was oat milk from Chobani which is the blandest of all plant based milks I've tried and I've tried so many. The butter was so gamey tasting. Yes, gamey! Dairy can be gamey like meat. The odor was strong. I thought it was spoiled like their other stuff, but apparently the dairy in that part of MX is just gamier lol.  We wanted to buy some cheddar but it was priced like a delicatessen cheese. $10 per lb for basic cheddar? I don't think so! The manager kept pulling down his mask and yelling across the store to other employees. This was in December 2021. We tried a couple desserts from the bakery and they were OK at best. Most of the breads in the bakery were sweet, including the rolls, the bagel looking things (but only shaped like bagels) and this other longer bread were also sweet. The french bread and the hoagie rolls were not thank God. Don't expect quality Ciabatta type fresh baked bread here.  Many things didn't have posted prices. Most everything ended up being more expensive than back home, some were similar price, and one rum brand was less there surprisingly.  Oh and if you appear to be a tourist, you will get hassled to buy cruises, snorkeling & other tours, etc...meanwhile you're just trying to read a product label in Spanish when you don't speak Spanish. One worker put a crate on the floor right behind me while I was desperately trying to find a non spoiled avocado. When I turned around I tripped on it and fell, I didn't expect it there. Check out my bruise! He said absolutely nothing while I limped away lol. There was a little restaurant in the store. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza because they didn't have the Margarita we saw the other day. It was cheap and the ham was weird tasting. We ended up only having a slice or two then tossing it. I'm giving it 1 extra star for being a one stop shopping store like a Walmart, Target or Freddie's but a ton worse. I'm adding a 2nd star because Normy who spoke English was incredibly helpful to us while there. But I had to remove a star....for way too many things lol. Also it's in a great location inside a mall, and you can eat outside overlooking the ocean in the distance (please see pic). I'd add a star for that, but ugh, at the end of the day, we just need non gross fresh groceries at reasonable prices. They know many of us are tourists so I guess it's ok to milk us for every penny :/ read more

My family and I decided to pick up some food and snacks from La Comer to keep in our room, so we walked here from our hotel. I noticed that this location is being remodeled, but nevertheless they have a great selection of everything you could want. I did notice that there were some salespeople trying to sell timeshares inside the grocery store, so tourists beware. On another note, please, please tip your baggers!! They do not work for the grocery store, they are simply volunteering with the hope of making a little money to take home. They don't get paid at all except for tips. I really like this grocery store. The store is huge and the parking lot has an underground level. Be sure to bring your own bags or be ready to purchase large bags for $1. They have a large selection of alcohol, produce, candy, cookies, chips, drinks, and anything else you are looking for in a grocery store. Place is really clean and the staff are really nice. They do have timeshare agents in this place. Be prepared to be asked what activities in you want to do while on vacation. The people are nice and will find you some good deals. read more

We gave it 3 stars cuz at the end watch out if you ask the cashier anything she calls her friend over to help and the guy tries to sell you a timeshare. I'm an all inclusive person every time I go to Mexico But when I go to this store I ask myself My don't I just stay at a hotel that's not all inclusive so I can buy like everything at this store This store has everything you need to souvenir to food to beach toys! Pretty authentic and way better than the food you get at the all inclusive hotels to be honest My fav thing here is that they have cold whole milk It might not be a big thing to most but it is to most mothers with a two year old that's on whole milk. Most places in Mexico only carry's dry shelf milk and it's a huge problem when traveling with a toddlers that's on milk from the USA to Mexico So this store is a huge for mommies!! Large selection of groceries and housewares. Some of the prices are comparable to stores we would find in Las Vegas, others were downright expensive. An example would be, eight slices of Gouda cheese was the same as $10 USD. Sadly, the resort we stayed at, did not provide some of the utensils needed to finish the preparation of the food at the store. They had some extra large prawns. I would've loved to of grilled. We did stock up on water, adult beverages, energy drinks and snacks totaling a little over US$230. Still cheaper than the resort fees. read more

For people back home in Hawaii, la Comer is Spanish for food and almost looks like a bigger Safeway supermarket. With a little Walmart added in. Full supermarket with a good sized clothing, household items, and souvenirs. A true one stop shopping for almost everything you need Deli, salsa bar, salad bar, full meat and fresh seafood section, and bakery, above what supermarkets usually have. read more

Not much has changed, La Comer replaces Mega in San Jose del Cabo. This giant supermarket carries fresh baked goods, meats, seafood, ready made meals and groceries. This is one of my first vacation stops, a place to stock up on liquid and solid nourishment. The panaderia offers bins of freshly baked bolillos that you pick yourself. Grab a tray and load 'em up with the light, soft and delicious bakery items and the friendly ladies will prepare them for take out. A large wine and spirits section will fuel you with everything you need to get that perfect baja buzz at affordable prices. Couple that with exotic juices and wow your guests with delicious cocktails. But don't drink on an empty stomach. The seafood department is stocked with whole fish, filleted fish, ceviches and an assortment of seasonal items like chocolate clams, scallops and squid. Adjacent to the seafood department is a gigantic produce section offering the bounty of Mexico at fantastic prices. You will also find a tortilleria selling hot and fresh tortillas, both traditional and blue with many home made salsas. The meat eaters will be impressed with the carniceria. Throughout the store you will notice signs that say 3x2, which means that you buy two and get the third one for free! I returned several times on my vacation and it looks like they intend to discontinue selling clothing at this store. The shelves are marked at 50% off for a liquidation sale. La Comer's prices are reasonable and the quality is spot on. The baggers rely on propinas (tips). Slip them a buck in exchange for a big smile and light up their day. read more

Like everyone is saying, this amazeballs mega store seems to be a Mexican Walmart. With more lime green shirted staff than you'd know what to do with, finding someone to ask a question was uber easy. We saw an amazing and fantastically presented meat counter where those staff wore gloves AND masks while handling the raw meats. We saw aisles and aisles of all things food THEN saw tires for cars (and even more). A huge electronic area with easily 30 smartphones and TV'S for sale. We even saw a comfy sofa (yes I tested it). We located vanilla (vainilla) extract for too little to brag at. My boyfriend bought the vanilla, a hat and some ginger beer(d) with alcohol. We oggled the hard liquor too. Yes. We. Are. Overwhelmed.
