I could never find parking at this library. Yes, probably because the parking lot is way smaller than the Rosemead Library. But seriously, the few times I've been here, I parked on the street around the neighborhood and walked over. Oh well, more steps for my Fitbit! I feel a bit claustrophobic here because this library is not as roomie. Most likely you'll share a study table with another person. It does get a little uncomfortable because you'll start building invisible boundaries so your paperwork will not get mixed with anybody elses. It is a bit cozier however, but still... It's a public library. I rather be cozy at home. Anyhow, the library staff here are a bit more stearn. Which is good! I here the librarian telling others to keep the noise level down, I heard one time she ask a person to take their bare feet off the chairs! I like that! It's called respecting other people's property. The also have a children's library area for after school literature. They have a decent collection of books too. The organization seems a bit better here. Cooler air conditioning, more organized, and adults aren't as loud compared to the other library. I hope this branch expands. But doubt it.

This library is for little children and their parents. If you want a quiet place to study - look elsewhere.

However, beyond the building's design, my experiences within the library have been deeply concerning. Over multiple visits, I have encountered employees whose conduct has been inconsistent with professional standards. Staff behavior has, at times, been selective and antagonistic toward certain patrons, including both adults and children. On several occasions, this conduct has escalated into interactions that were verbally aggressive and physically intrusive in nature. Personally, I, along with my nephews, niece, and other family members, have experienced repeated instances of being singled out, harassed, and subjected to what can reasonably be described as hazing while attempting to use the library and its resources respectfully. These incidents have not been isolated, and I have documented several of them through recordings. The overall environment created by staff has, at times, felt restrictive and punitive rather than welcoming, which is not in alignment with the purpose of a public library. This pattern of behavior is unacceptable. Library staff and management are responsible for ensuring that all employees consistently uphold professional ethics, integrity, and appropriate standards of conduct--without exception or selective enforcement. I expect immediate review and corrective action to address these concerns and to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patrons.

The library has outdoor seating , indoor study area with large tables, main seating tables by the bookcases , & ledge seating by the windows. Most tables are equipped with charger outlets. The library is well managed with staff who are doing headcount & open to questions or concerns. I haven't tried their actual checkout process for books as I only come to study. Parking can be tricky at times since the library is next to an elementary school. The golden hour is coming before 2pm or after 8am to avoid the car lines of parents or difficulty with parking. I personally enjoy the artwork that is displayed in the hallway which changes every so often as it's made by the community. Overall, a nice spot to study as you have different seating options & quiet environment.

What a nice, tidy, (no so little) library!…read more I love libraries: they are one of the few places you can go to where you're not expected to spend money. You can just go there to read, do research or work on a paper without spending a dime. A rarity, these days. Anyway, South Pasadena Public Library has a really nice entrance. The first floor is the library proper: I'll admit smaller than I expected. But the kids section looked absolutely awesome and had me hankering for younger days. There were a great deal of computers, mostly in use. And a nice little phone charger station: more libraries should have these! On the second floor, there are collection of large rooms which appear set up for community meetings or non-profit gatherings. But the star of the show is the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library Bookstore upstairs. Featuring a collection of gently used books, with some really cool titles. Many books about art and architecture, crafts, cooking as well as fiction. Prices for hardbacks are comparable to a typical used book store, but paperbacks were very reasonable. But, since this bookstore is the primary contributor to the running of the library, I definitely encourage you to go browsing. Eventually books (and DVDs and Blu-rays) that languish up here for too long get shuffled downstairs where they're on sale for next to nothing. The Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library Bookstore is open Tuesday through Saturday 1pm-5pm M-Th and 11:30am-4:30pm Saturday and 10:00am-4:30pm Sunday. Definitely a nice library. Definitely worth visiting.

There was a librarian seated in the section, but she looked busy and didn't seem to want to engage with the kids while we were there. Street parking is available around the library. The library is located in a pretty park like setting. When we visited a few weekends ago, there was a tai chi class finishing up.

An LA treasure you can get lost in all day!…read more The Huntington is absolutely worth the trip. It's part art museum, part library, part 120 acres of gardens -- and all of it is gorgeous. The Gardens: This is the star. You wander from a serene Japanese Garden with koi ponds and a bonsai collection, to the Desert Garden with cacti bigger than cars, to the Rose Garden that smells incredible in April - May (when in bloom). The Chinese Garden is like stepping into another country. Wear comfy shoes because you will walk miles and not regret it. The Library + Art: Gainsborough's Blue Boy, and Hockney's A Bigger Splash all in one place. The galleries are quiet, cool, and uncrowded if you go on a weekday morning. Tips: Book tickets online -- they sell out. Get a membership if you are local as it pays over time. Go early before it gets hot in the summer. Pack water and apply anti-mosquito repellent.

I had an idea of how big Huntington was, but only once you get there, do you realize what that means, especially on a warm day. Parking is free, but had plenty filled up by the time we got through the LA traffic in the early afternoon. My wife found a great spot near the front. Tickets for non-members are $29 for adults and $24 for Seniors (65+) from M-Th ($34 and $28 respectively Fr-Su and holidays). They can be purchased on-line, but found it was just as easy purchasing through a well-managed ticket office at the entrance. I think we ended up seeing maybe 1/3 of the outdoor property. Since we started at the Chinese gardens first, spent the most time there, especially admiring all the water attractions. We then walked to the Japanese gardens. There are many benches to sit and rest, but even then, the afternoon heat took a lot out of us. We were able to take the shuttle service back to the entrance...it's just a matter of being lucky to catch one. They are only supposed to stop at marked stops, but will bend this when they see that a group could really use a ride. Both the gift shop and cafe are located outside of the admission-required area and are well air-conditioned, so provided a sanctuary before we left. Definitely need to plan ahead to be able to see all that Huntington has to offer. Planning to come back here for a longer and more focused stay (besides the Chinese gardens), and making a promise to myself to write a better review then.
