Arrived on the first Eurostar train across the channel and headed here for brunch after working up an appetite walking around Paris. Traditional aka buckwheat savory crepes/galettes (gluten free) are available along with wheat sweet crepes. I started out with an emmenthal and ham galette which was hot, fresh and delicious. I went against my instincts which said order a cider to drink and didn't but instead ordered a hot chocolate (as it was such a cold day). The hot chocolate was a disappointment as it was not hot and was positively a chilly chocolate milk when I mixed it up to distribute the whipped cream. It was also quite tiny. I had a crepe Suzette for dessert which happily didn't disappoint. Ambiance was typical of a small French cafe with tiny romantic 2 table seats as you'd expect out on the sidewalk except inside due to the chilly weather. I'm not sure I'd go back to the place but I would definitely try one of the other similar offerings nearby. read more

Great day to be sitting outside eating crepes What Ofcourse I had to get a savory and a sweet crepe (checking off the checklist). The ivory one, I got the veggies one and this was really good, very cheesy. The mushrooms are a bit on the raw side, but I guess that's just a me problem. I ate it and it was delicious. The sweet one I got an almond cream like one with chocolate, it was a good finish after the savory one. It is interesting that it is crepe but the crepe wrap was different and even wrapped different! I was satisfied. Environment Seems I was on crepe street! The restaurant was very cute, there were seats inside and also outside. Ofcourse I was outside on a good day! This whole street seemed to be Crêperie but we selected La Creperie Bretonne. We order three crepes. The supreme with ham, mushrooms, and eggs, the framboise with chocolate And a banana with chocolate. The breakfast and banana were our favorites. My daughter was also happy with her hot chocolate. The seating is colorful and cute and the staff look like they are working hard. We enjoyed it and would return, but would get more adventurous with our crepe selections. read more

Whenever we are in Paris it is our go to creperie. It is our favorite for both savory and sweet. Have always been greeted by friendly staff.

Let me begin with this review by stating, crepes are not my favorite and so my review may be slightly influenced by this fact. That being said it's located in the lovely Montparnasse neighborhood in Paris. So the scenery and atmosphere are perfect Paris. The place is small and has limited seating. Had a wonderful lunch there during our visit to Paris. A charming creperie that was busy yet giving everyone ample attention with their service. The gentleman noticed me struggling with the French menu items so presented us with English menus. My husband and I enjoyed our moment out of the rain when we had dinner at La Creperie Bretonne. The creperie I intended for us to go to was closed that day, so we surveyed all the other creperies nearby and ended up choosing this location. Although I don't have any other crepes in Paris to compare this to, it seemed like we made a good choice.This place did offer an English menu for tourists, but all the people sitting around us were locals. Stayed in the Montparnasse area for a few nights, and discovered this gem in the several blocks of what appears to be all creperies. Crepe Row, if you will. It's a quaint place, as most are in Paris, but the interior is lovely and inviting. Be careful as you walk downstairs to the toilette, as the spiral stair case is quite narrow. Staff is also friendly and efficient, and can speak English, too! Diners look to be a good mix of locals with a few tourists (me)! The menu has a vast selection of savory and sweet crepes. Even better that menus are available in English. Oui oui! That proved to be quite helpful especially since this was the first place we went to after our long international flight. Anywho, I went with the Vitre crepe - egg, cheese, ham and mushrooms. The buckwheat crepe was light and seemed 'healthy' enough. The crepe was so huge and definitely filling, and absolutely delish. I loved how the egg sat right in the middle, and was enough to spread over the entire crepe. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for a dessert crepe, but in looking at the other tables' desserts, they looked wonderful with the nutella and other decadent spreads and sauces. Overall fantastic crepe shop. We stopped here on our final night in Paris because it was close to our hotel and it was very cheap and delicious. The service was great and they were all really friendly and quick to bring all of our food out. You could even watch them cook the crepe on the side if you wanted! Highly recommend, crepes are very tasty made of buckwheat (gluten free). I enjoyed one with goat cheese, spinach, and salmon. I also had the baked apple, caramel, and vanilla ice cream. The rest of my group enjoyed theirs too. Tried the flambé just for the experience but my in-laws didn't like the taste. We were surprised to find out in the end we cannot bring home our leftover. Came here for our first meal in Paris. We went inside and were greeted and given a place to sit. Our server was very kind and gave us English menus and tried his best to tel us about the town he is from in English which was much appreciated given the fact that we speak barely any french. Since we were staying at the hotel next to and above this Creperie, we had the pleasure of not only eating here but listening to their Jamiroquai Cds all night. Nothing like the same CD over and over to let a person sleep peacefully. OK all sarcasm aside, yes I was super frustrated that I couldn't sleep, however it was part of the experience that made our stay unique. One of the best meals I've had in Paris! Decided to eat here for dinner over Josselin (the line was 6 people long while Creperie Bretonne had ~5 seats available). The restaurant is small and very packed; be prepared to squeeze and climb to get to your seat! Little trinkets, plates, and small decorations pay homage to Brittany and add to the homey, authentic feel. I came with 2 other friends and we decided to share a bottle of the brut apple cidre to share. I ordered the Crepe Suzanne, which was featured as the crepe du jour (chicken, creme fraiche, mushrooms, mozarella, and black pepper) and a dessert crepe with apples, caramel, and vanilla ice cream. After ordering, the food came within 15 minutes, which was very short considering how busy the place was but seemed like eternity as we watched everyone around us enjoying their wonderful dishes. Both crepes were phenomenal. The Crepe Suzanne had the perfect amount of filling, was perfectly crispy, and I could tell the ingredients were fresh and quality. I thought I was too full to even think about dessert but decided to share it with one of my friends; that crepe too was perfect, with the apples somehow cooked into a delicious puree and the ice cream and caramel au beurre salé mixing (and melting) together. The cider went perfectly well with the whole meal (we had originally been planning on getting the pear cider but decided to ask our server, who recommended the apple brut). OH MY GOODNESS. Mo' cheese, mo' betta. I loved all of the crepes we had here, but I think the triple cheese was my ultimate favorite ... it felt completely sinful eating cheese on cheese on cheese, but each was so good and so flavorful that I just couldn't stop. I also liked the potato/ham/chive crepe, though I could have actually done without the salad that came on the side. I really appreciate that the crepes are made with different whole grains: whole wheat, buckwheat, etc. Makes for a more filling, hearty, and (somewhat) healthier meal. The first spot my boyfriend and I decided to eat at was this cafe. We heard that you must try crepes in Paris, and so we did (since this was just blocks away from our hotel). Definitely worth paying the sweet crepes!!!!!!! I have to say, I was a bit dissappointed by the salty crepe that I ordered which is apparently one of their signature crepes: Mr. Seguin which consists of goat cheese, honey, walnuts and lettuce. A bit dry for my taste but HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Le Palais crêpe which is salted caramel with wear and appple crumble topped with vanilla ice cream. Worth every single cent!!! If you're staying in Montparnasse it probably means you're going to try a few crepes. La Creperie Bretonne served up a solid crepe that was crisp, buttery, and delicious. We tried a sweet and a salty crepe--the butter caramel and the ham, cheese, and egg crepe. They were both very good and pretty filling considering how small the portion size might appear. I haven't tried the famous Creperie Josselin because when I walked by, I saw a huge stack of pre-made crepes. NO ONE likes a pre-made crepe! One of the whole points of a crepe is that they're freshly made. I've often discovered that this is the case--the famous place is not always the best place. La Creperie Bretonne is a great alternative to its famous neighbor and you likely won't have to wait very long either. I don't think it's worth a trip out here just for this creperie, but if you're in the area and want a solid crepe, you can't go wrong with La Creperie Bretonne. read more

This place is located near Gare Montparnasse on a street filled with other creperies. My French teacher recommended it to me months ago, but only decided to try it now. First, I came on a Saturday mid afternoon, and the place was fairly buzzing. A few tables were available and I got seated near the door to the kitchen which was nice as I could take everything in. The decor (cool), and the vibe (busy and lots of people enjoying their meals). I decided to order the Nanon (salted butter caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and slivers of toasted almonds), a bowl of Cider (Breton) and to finish a cafe creme. The crepe was amazing (I thought it was just as good as Breizh Cafe's similar crepe without the sliced almonds though). It wasn't drenched in the sauce which I appreciated. The ice cream and chantilly were nice and creamy. Mouthwatering! And the cider was so good too! As for the cafe creme, it wasn't anything to write home about, but just a nice closer for the wonderful meal. Oh and the staff were nice. I speak some French and understand even more, and they didn't cringe at my accent. Haha. I've never tried the place across the street (josselin), but I'm willing to make the sacrifice in order to provide a good understanding of why others have said its better than this place. read more

After a year and many, many crêpes in Paris, this was by far ma crêperie préférée /my favorite creperie-- delicious, not too pricy, friendly service (a rarity in Paris), and authentic. I first came here on recommendation from a friend's host mother; she told us to steer away from the tourist-laden Josselin in favor of this one. Since then, it kept popping up in conversations about the best hidden gems of Paris. Once, when I was grabbing lunch with a friend, we started talking to the elderly man sitting next to us. Turns out he was from Bretagne, and this is the only crêperie he'll go to in Paris. Pretty great! It's tiny inside, and true to Paris, tables are packed in tightly, so it's also pretty loud. The kitchen (really, the griddle) is open and right in the front, and it's fun to watch the chef cook while you wait. It's hard to make recommendations, because everything I've ever had here has been delicious! If you're only in Paris for a short time and aren't feeling too adventurous, you shouldn't miss the complète-- a classic and simple crêpe with shredded cheese, ham, and a fried egg. Also not to miss is anything with caramel au beurre salé, another classic from Brittany. Whether you're in Paris for vacation or have lived there for years, this place is a must-go! It's impossible to evaluate C.B. without reference to the Josselin place on the same street. I've been to the Crêperie Josselin many times in my life, but not at all recently. I last ate there over five years ago, eating a very late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. On that occasion, there was exactly one two-top available when we showed up, despite the late hour. We felt lucky to be seated; the crepes were fabulous. We came to La Creperie Bretonne by what I'm sure is a well-worn path: we showed up on the rue Montparnasse with the intention of eating at Josselin but then realized that we had to change plans on the fly because of the long line for Josselin on the street. To the casual observer, all the establishments on this street seem interchangeable. We chose the Creperie Bretonne somewhat at random, although there is no real harm in re-writing history and stating that we came in because La Creperie Bretonne seemed to be especially charming. The place is a bit small, and tables are packed tightly together. We needed to slide our table around a few times when customers at adjacent tables came and left. If you go to the WC, you'll descend a very narrow circular staircase that functions as a slightly glorified stepladder. Wheelchair accessibility could not be described as this establishment's strong point. (The door to the bathroom is secured by a bolt that's mounted vertically. Try to remember the last time that you encountered a vertical bolt!) The two servers who came to our table (both male) took joy in their job and were fun to interact with. The woman who was actually making the crepes worked in a very restricted space and arguably was having trouble keeping up with the flow of orders from diners. It seemed to me that our two rounds of crepes (savory and sweet) each took longer than at other crepe houses I've visited in the past week. The crepes and salads were both very good. I ordered a crepe with andouille after seeing such a crepe listed among the "complete" (3-ingredient) crepes on the menu. I liked what I got and recommend this somewhat unorthodox choice to people who are looking for "something different." Our server brought salads and crepes to the table simultaneously. From a practical point of view, it would have been better to have the salads before or after the crepes, simply because the surface area of our table was so small. Speaking geometrically, I'll make the humble suggestion that the house purchase rectangular plates! We got a big pitcher of cidre à la pression. It served its purpose, but I'll bet that the bottled cider is better. ----- Afterthought: we went to the Josselin Creperie a few days later and were unanimous in our assessment that the savory crepes at La Creperie Bretonne are even better than those at the Crêperie Josselin. On the other hand, the dessert crepes at Josselin were the winners. There is nothing to do but give four stars to both places. read more

Although it's been quite a while since I've gone, I still remember how delicious the crepes were. I had the ratatouille crepe (I was inspired by the film), which was like 3/5 stars. However, my boyfriend's duck crepe was delicious. 4/5! We actually ate two savory crepes together, and a dessert crepe (the classic Nutella with strawberries and banana a la mode) after.
