I can't say enough good about Dr Courtney, Dr Walker and their staff at La Cueva Pet Care Center. I'm the president of Carlsbad Cares Animal Rescue and Sanctuary and I own Aunt Kitty's Pet Sitting . It's so important for us to have wonderful vets. La Cueva always goes above and beyond for us. Recently I took one of our sweet chickens in to see Dr. Courtney. She took wonderful care of our feather baby, called us with reports and gave first class care all around. It's so nice to see such a thoughtful and kind person who understands how much we love our chickens just like our fur babies. Dr Walker Sr. is also first class. He worked closely with me to save a tiny bottle baby kitten who's thriving and happy now. He always goes above and beyond for our animals. I also can't say enough good things about Linda at front desk and the rest of the staff. Everyone is always helpful and cheerful. Everyone there is a true animal lover. I think their prices are very fair given the service we get too. What a blessing it is to have them here in Carlsbad. read more

The Veterinarian is very caring and knowledgeable and the staff follows cue! I am really pleased to take my doggy to see them.

Took our Yorkie, Miss Beanie, in for a checkup. Everyone at La Cueva was wonderful. We will be returning for Beanie's next checkup!

Update just a heads up if your animal is sick and they can't figure out the problem they send said animal home to suffer. Emergency service is a joke. Dog couldn't walk before or after they tried to say it was the floors. Ridiculous I've had positive visits with la cueva but this one is inexcusable. read more

I give them a zero. What kind of vet doesn't address that my dog couldn't walk and had been puking 3 days before appointment. They said it was an upper gastrointestinal. So they had to wheel him to my car on a gurney. And they didn't think anything was wrong with him. Needless to say that my dog was sent home to die. Our precious baby died that evening. Called their emergency number and they said to bring him in at 8 the next morning. My Baby died a horrible death. He started bleeding out from his rectum. Dr. Walker said the reason he went in was for the vomiting and he wasn't there for him not being able to walk. I'm gonna bash this place and I don't care what they say or do. BTW I was told that Dr Walker lives in Roswell. He and most of his staff are horrible except for Linda who went over the ordeal. read more

Dr. Marvin Albright has been my families vet since the late 90's, early 2000's. He has always been so wonderful to all of our fur babies. Along with all the nurses and staff, they are all great people. Always so very helpful, kind, and respectful. I wouldn't trust anyone else to take care of my pets. I couldn't thank the staff and Dr.Albright enough for all they have done for not only my pets but all of Carlsbads. Definitely recommend this to all fur parents out there. read more

If you set an appointment here, except to sit for another 30 to 40min before you and your pet are even seen. Do these people even understand the theory of appointment? We all have other things in our lives so if you can't get to your customer when you say you will. At least have the courtesy of telling me. It's called customer service. read more

I really wanted to like the new, attractive facility, but I can't. Details will ID me and my deceased two year old otherwise healthy $2000 family pet I brought to them for routine vaccines and neutering. Bad vet practices, switching out vets for a planned procedure, bold face lies I can prove easily if I were to take legal action, but the lack of following known vet protocol is why I won't go back, ever. Vets have off moments, but when all they have are off moments, time to pull the plug and find another. Update: College of Veterinary Medicine Kansas State University says this is a case of improper oxygenation during neutering that caused permanent brain damage. This was a stand-in vet for Dr. Albright, I was told. read more

I came to work in Carlsbad and was recorecommend by coworkers about this place. Had my dog nutered there and shots. But when my dog got really sick couldn't even get a nurse to come out to look at her. Went to another vet in town and found out she was running a v high fever from an infection. And also shots that I had asked for to be given to her at time she got fixed weren't given to her. Very unsatisfied with them and another that they cannot hire someone to just answer the phone!! Very frustrating waiting in parking lot calling no one answers and then no one wants to see dog cause apparently dogs and cats getting spayed or nutered is way more important!! Never again will I ask for their service. read more

Thank you to the kind staff here for fitting us in at the last minute. We are new to the area and our dog got hurt/sick which left us scrambling. After a poor encounter with another location, we were happy to find this one. The Dr was super nice and great with our dog (who is a bit scared of vet visits). explained to the vet that my dog has not eatin or drank water in 2-3 days or moving correctly and that she was walking strained with her back legs very stiff. He said she was fine without doing a single thing. gave me nausea medicine and i was in and out of his office in like 5 minutes keep in mind this is the friday before labor day all this dude cared about was getting off the clock. i would of gave this man my whole check to give a fuck for not even an hour. i'm now sitting here on labor day with my dog in a completely worse shape with no one to call because the vet did not wanna do his job before his 3 day weekend. god forbid my dog pass away because of this negligence read more

I've been taking my pets to this vet clinic for over two years now, and it has gone down hill. I had to give them one star, but I would of rated them a zero. Staff are very rude, except for the new little blonde that sits at the front desk. She is the only one that is nice and try's to be helpful. My last visit the animal tech hurt my dog, used rude and abusive language. You would think that individuals that work in an animal facility would be kind, and caring to the pet patients/owners that they see. We, the pet owners bring them into you and spend a great deal of money. We expect quality care, because We don't just consider them an animal, to us they are FAMILY! read more

I will never take my animals back to this vet. Following my dog receiving stitches a few days ago. I noticed last night that something was not right. I called the office 15 minutes before they closed and expressed my concern and stated that I could make it before they closed as this was an emergency and my dog needed to be seen. They denied me emergency care telling me that it would have to wait until morning. It could not. Shortly after the phone conversation ended my dog had an abscess burst on his back which would not have been formed if proper medical care was taken. I.e. Putting a drain in him so that the fluid had somewhere to go, which Dr. Marvin Albright failed to do. I am deeply dissatisfied with the care given at this establishment and would not recommend this place to anyone who cares about their family pets. read more

Awesome pet care. Beautiful little cat with one eye was dropped at my house. She looked abused. Her bad eye got infected it took me a while to get her trust up to get her to the vets. I had to keep cancelling appointments. But they worked with me caring and kind these people are! They were so gentle and loving with her. They took excellent care of her and me. I can't say enough wonderful things about their care! Now little carport kitty is on her way to healing and being integrated into my household! No more carport for my new kitty.
