We ordered plantation shutters for all our windows and an automatic roller shade for our sliding glass window 8/19/19. Sales guy Daniel and owner Barry were great. Very communicative during the initial consultation and measurement processes. When it was time to install about 5 weeks after ordering (9/26/19), installation was quick and beautifully done. One hiccup was when our large window was not measured properly initially so the shutter they had did not fit. They said they had to place another order to build that shutter correctly. They said it would take only 7-10 business days as they would rush it. Weeks pass and I don't hear anything from them, so on 10/28/19 I call to follow up. The ladies in the office said they would research and get back to me. The next day I notice that they charged the balance of my bill for final payment when the project wasn't completed yet. I called them right away and they reversed the charges. They said their back office made a mistake and they would fix it. Ends up they didn't place the order for the replacement shutter when they said they would. They send out another guy to measure the window again and placed the order. On 11/15/19 our last shutter was finally installed. They would have gotten 5 stars if they got the order right the first time, but minus one star since they measured wrong, then forgot to reorder, and then they mistakenly charge and subsequently reversed the charge for final payment. Mistakes happen... they were upfront about it, professional and fixed it. We are happy with the plantation shutters and the automatic roller shade. They came out beautifully. read more

Just a should out to LA Custom Blinds. Cannot believe we lived here for 18 years with the sun heating up our livingroom and bleaching furniture. Michael and Barry brought us the perfect solution. Our double remote-control blinds have already made a huge impact and they have only been up one day. This will definitely reduce the need for AC and protect our belongings. AVOID THIS COMPANY !!!! With so many other blind companies out there you will be saving yourself time and money...I had nothing but a headache dealing with LA Custom Blinds. The lack of professionalism is incomprehensible. I was charged in full for a incomplete job, not returning calls and being forgotten on two separate occasions...what should have been a 2-3 week job is now 4 MONTHS and counting. PROJECT: 3 windows/ Black out shades and Solar shades...$2,850 MAY 21/ CONSULTATION: I called for a consultation and Jason Oakes came out the following day. He measured all the windows in the house. I asked for only 3 windows to be worked on and in 3 months time I would have the company finish the entire house. After discussing what I wanted and materials being used Jason gave me a final price. I payed half of the total and on completion I was told I could pay the remaining balance. 3 weeks had passed and no word from company. I called the office and was told my project was ready and it was just sitting on the warehouse floor ready . JUNE 17 / INSTALLATION: The roller shades were installed however the fascias were not properly made to complete the project. The fascias were not notched/cut for the pull down chain to fit and would not properly fit on track...The tech apologized and insured me that the problem will be fixed. The installer had me sign paperwork saying that the fascias had to be returned and that the project was incomplete and no charges will be made. I am a reasonable person and realize problems can occur and this minor set back was not a issue. The following encounter with a different installer and future calls to the company is what led me to create a yelp account just so I can leave a review and inform potential clients to STAY AWAY. JUNE 27 / INSTALLATION 2: A second installer Oscar came to the property, the proper repairs were made to the fascias. Oscar was clearly upset that he had to drive across town from Culver City to Downey back to Culver City area and then home to SGV during rush hour just to pop on the fascias which only took 3 mins to install. He was upset that he had to come for the install when the previous installer only lived a couple miles from me. Oscar had asked what had happen to previous install, I informed him of the situation and he's response was to flip the fascias upside down which clearly the fascias were not attended to do so, the rollers would be exposed and project would look sloppy. He installed 2 out of the 3 fascias and when installing the last fascia I noticed a dent and chipped metal on the middle of the fascia it was clearly damaged and he asked if I wanted to leave it as is. I couldn't believe this guy was serious. It wasn't damaged on the backside or on the side it was damaged in the middle for all to see. At this point I told him I wanted it fixed, he then grabbed his tools and the damaged fascia and went to his truck. Thinking that he was coming back to have me SIGN PAPERWORK like the previous installer but to my unveil he left....He left without saying anything. So UNPROFESSIONAL!!! THE PHONE CALLS / PAYMENT: 4 days after Returning the damaged fascia I notice I was charged in full so I called the office and left a voicemail, 2 week later NO RESPONSE. I then call the office and left another voicemail, another week had past and of course no response. I then call Jason Oakes cell, he answered..I told him I was charged in full and a damaged fascia had to be returned. At this point I was left in the dark for almost a month not knowing what the status was. I had zero communication with the company, Jason had no clue of the situation and of course nothing was being done to rectify it. After talking to Jason he told me he was going to call me the following day to let me know what was going on. A week past so I call Jason's cell again he answered and when asked about the status he then apologizes and says he must have FORGOT to call me back from the previous call...he then tells me they're working on the fascia, that was almost 2 weeks ago. I called Jason's cell again just a couple days ago and it went straight to voicemail. I left a message and of course no response back. I can understand if I was calling every day and harassing / being rude but I've nothing but polite and patient, giving this company plenty of times to fix the problem and they showed me on numerous occasions that they are not worthy of my money and future projects. CONCLUSION: I started this project MAY 20th it is now AUGUST 23rd...It's been over Four months, not only was I charged in full but the job is still incomplete. All this for only 3 windows. I am now looking at other companies to finish the entire house. I read the reviews and saw a few consumers having having issues with not receiving call backs, some issues with products it's self but I thought what can go wrong with 3 windows, oh how I was WRONG! I received a call right away to schedule a free estimate Anthony was great and absolutely hilarious. He had a sample for everything! Within 2 weeks Miguel showed up for installation of 13 windows. Miguel was great, professional, fast and made sure not a spec of material or trash was left behind. He even took measurements for the 2 windows I thought I didnt want covered lol. I had just completed an extensive interior update of my 3,600 SF home in Orange County. The final element to complete the renovation was the replacement of all the plantation shutters and the installation of new solar and light filtering shades. As a person that does their homework on design elements, I researched and spoke with a number of solar shade distributors and manufacturers in order to insure we could make an informed decision on both the product and the manufacturer/installation company. It was critical that the product be of high quality; but equally as important that the company making and installing the blinds provide a competitive price, be ready to stand by their commitments and be reliable to do what they promised in a timely manner. What a sh**show of a company, and sketchy too. I ordered motorized blinds for two windows, and I paid a bundle. There are unusual things about my windows and the room, so when the salesman and measuring person came to plan it out we made sure we come to terms on the details. However, this is where the problems started. Wrong parts, missing parts, wrong measurements, everyone passing the buck to everyone else and nobody is in charge. This company is too big, incredibly disorganized, and none of the employees seem to talk to each other or know what the other did. What's the point of a measuring guy planning things out if none of it is communicated to the installers? Even worse, there seems to be no way to discuss nuances with the installers in advance, since you don't know which of them you're going to get until the very day they come in to install. If you have anything unusual or any specific requirements for your blinds, they will promise you everything you want to get you to sign, at which point all that is forgotten and you are just out of luck and stuck in the gears of a mismanaged and huge beaurocracy where your one job is passed around from employee to employee, despite none of them talking to each other. Some of the employees seem overworked and frustrated by their mess of a company, and some are doing their best, but at the end of the day this is just a case of mismanagement. My blinds ended up great because I kept chasing after them, and my installer ended up being a good guy who finally came through after many hassles that weren't his fault but the fault of the company. The worst thing though? Their policy is to take 50% down and 50% on delivery/installation, which sounds great. However, they save your credit card info from the first payment and quietly charge you a day before the scheduled installation. No phone call. No waiting to see if all the parts are there (they never are) or if the installation is done right (it never is the first or second or third time, see above!). At that point you're just stuck there with an unfinished or poorly installed product, and since they already took all your money you have no more leverage to get them to come back to fix it. That is so unethical and shady I don't even know where to start. Someone needs to class action sue that owner for unethical business practices based on this. Any lawyers reading, look into it, this might be a good class action case. My advice if you have to go with them? Pay cash the first payment, or cancel your credit card right after it. Then only pay them the rest once it's installed to your liking. One positive thing I will say is that the final product, after all this hassle, turned out great. If only the experience was commensurate. read more

She was very informative and not pushy. She provided various options and pricing. So far without Instalation,!i give them 5 stars for the process. I recently got blinds installed in our guest room and the service and the professionalism was top notch from the get-go. When the person came in for the consult, she was very clear on how the blinds would be given the windows were not deep and that they were butting at the corner. She pointed out the drawbacks and possible solutions. The order was complete in 2 weeks and the installation was a breeze. The person was in and out in about 10 mins. This is one of the worse companies that I've ever dealt with. Alicia didn't seem like she wanted my business in the beginning, we set an appointment then she wanted to cancel it and just send the person to do the measurements without showing what I was looking at as far as the type the color or anything. So I told her that I would find another company and she convinced me that things would work out so I gave her another chance. The guy came to do the measurements on July 20th I never received a contract or proposal but I did hear from Wells Fargo who was financing the project asking me to sign so that they could start charging me, but I still had no contract or proposal, so I didn't sign. Alicia also told me that it would take 4 to 5 weeks for the shutters to be made but I didn't hear anything from her or the company so I called them and they didn't know what was going on but they would call me back, never received a call so I called back and they said the shutters would be ready Sept 15th, the 15th came and went so I called back and I was told that the shutters would be ready Oct 1st. Oct 1st, a guy delivered the shutters and told me that the installers would be here in about an hour, they did show up. They installed the first of 10 shutters when they installed the second window it was too small so they checked the other windows and they didn't fit either they were all too small, so the rest of the shutters were left on my front porch they told me that someone would come by to pick them up that day they stayed on my front porch for 6 days before someone picked them up. No one called to ask me if there was anything they can do to compensate me so I told them to pick the shutters up and we are through. I would not recommend anyone to use this company. read more

We purchased some blinds from here a couple years ago and at first it started out rough due to the window coverings we chose because we found out they were out of stock but then they had found some but then there was something else not right. The owner came out to handle the situation and so we have been happy since that was taken care of. More recently we have found there is a defect with a couple of the shutters and I made a call to have the defect taken care of. The representatives are now in the process of having my issue taken care of as soon as I can get a technician out. read more

It took over 8 months and over 8 trips for them trying to fix just 4 shades. From the owner of the company to the customer service reps, every single person working at this company is just simple horrible with bad customer service unqualified individuals with no basic sense of humanity. It starts at the top with the owner, doesn't return calls or reply to emails. His mantra is simple; Do not call customers back or reply to emails in the hopes they will go away. Anyone that have used this company previously knows the service is horrible with so many mistakes to correct simple things. They will also damage your home as the installer are very clumsy. My 3 out of 4 shades are still not fixed. Multiple wrinkles and stains. To them, this is normal as they describe it. Owner is well aware of everything but refuses to call or email me. The GM promised a partial refund but it's been over 2 weeks and crickets. There is a lawsuit coming to them. Save your money, pay extra and use a reputable company. Blinds were installed in December...long story short when the blinds were installed there was a section that was not what they promised and it looked sloppy. They have come back twice to fix it, but didn't have right pieces both times. Without going into too much detail, it's 6 months later of following up and checking in, I'm exhausted and incredibly frustrated with the horrible communication and customer service. It's turned into a part time job to get basic updates and will demand a refund to make up for all this time trying to get this thing fixed. 6 MONTHS! I finally was able to book an appointment today, only for the installer to come in and realize he'd been given the wrong valence. He attached end caps to one set but that was all he could do. I now have to make time for another appointment. I worked with Barry from LA Custom Blinds, Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles. Feburary 2016. I have called several times he never had the decency to return the call. He originally told me that the blinds were fully garnateed to last or be replaced. I finally called the main office after several calls they finally sent David out to check the blinds because I wanted one replaced even though several others where also showing sings of wearing and tears. David agreed and said several should be replaced. That is as far as it went. I called again this time the owner, Carlos, told me no they would not garantee them! He was not very polite either. Little does he know that I was going to pay to have electric one repleced in the living room. So all they really had to do was replace two small ones in the kitchen and I would have worked with them for the electric replacements. Bad business people lost my business and I hope others will look elsewhere! read more

I just moved in to my new home and needed blinds on all 14 of my windows. After looking over different estimates, I found LA Custom Blinds online. Jason came to my house and did the estimate and Moses and another guy, didn't catch his name, came to do the installation. They did a great job installing the blinds and Moses was really helpful in explaining how to work the blinds to me. I totally recommend LA Custom Blinds. They are easy to work with and the prices are better than companies like 3 Day Blinds and Home Depot. If I plan to get shutters down the line I will call them. :) read more
