Quality of the products, price, availability, installation workmanship, and customer service/support were all factors in making a daunting decision. After meeting many companies, I was drawn to the independent and local businesses in order to support them but they also provided a more personal experience compared to the big name brands and big box store vendors. One local and small business appointment was with Miguel of MJ Blinds. He was able to meet with me quickly at my home and brought many samples, options, and selections to examine and see first hand. Miguel had a wealth of knowledge from his experience of sales, product familiarity, installation, quality, fulfilling clients needs while being mindful of budget, backing up the products and installations that he provides, understanding aesthetic and design, and more! He exuded a passion for providing beautiful window coverings and also sincerely taking care of his clients as the relationship would be as long standing as the longevity of plantation shutters. Miguel measured all of the windows and doors with confidence and precision knowing that the construction of the openings are not perfect. We decided on a particular shutter style, sliding door vertical blinds, and roll up blinds to be included in the estimate. Miguel was intimately familiar with his pricing of products and installation costs so he was immediately able to quote us a number. He graciously gave us his best pricing and incentives to consider. I was impressed with the quote and the fast turnaround of having the shutters custom made ready for installation compared to long wait time of other businesses. Hand-shake done deal! Installation was on schedule as forecasted by Miguel. Miguel and his own team of installers arrived and completed everything within hours not days. All plantation shutters and frames fit with no issues and Miguel installed the vertical and roll up blinds himself promptly and efficiently. What a beautiful transformation to our home that we had longed for from the day we closed escrow on it but had no funds to spend as a young couple stretching to pay the mortgage in the late nineteen nineties. We waited 20+ years to finally enjoy the timeless presence of plantation shutters. Coming forward to January 2026 - Still basking in the glory of white wooden shutter aesthetic, form, and function. One of our larger windows has been recently experiencing what appears to be rubbing of the lower shutter doors on the frame which make it hard to close smoothly. Possibly the large size of the doors are causing the hinges to loosen or sag? I reach out to Miguel after these years past and he immediately responds to my inquiry for help. With no hesitance, he steps up and offers the availability of time slots that an employee can come by and assist. I choose one that is only a day away and thank him for the expedient appointment. His worker is on time and immediately goes to work to correct the problem after grabbing some of his tools from his panel truck. With some effort which included trial and error, one shutter door is quickly adjusted and the other side is removed, taken to his truck, adjusted, reinstalled, touch up spray paint applied to areas that were rubbing that matches, and doors are returned to functioning as designed. A cordial offer to fix any others while he is here is declined as we have no other problems with the 9 remaining windows that have plantation shutters. We thank him and he is off to his next job. Miguel contacts me soon after his worker leaves to check on the repair and my satisfaction. I give him the good news and accolades for his continued support of me as a client. He is appreciative and reminds me to call upon him with any further questions or needs in the near or far future. This is a small local business owner being accountable for the products and services that his company provides, standing by his word, and extending a level of customer service that is exemplary and worthy of sharing with the community.

I had the worst experience with Budget Blinds when one of their staff/vans hit me my car in a…read moreparking lot and then tried to gaslight me like it didn't happen. I was pulling through the parking lot and the man was backing out. Although I was pulling forward already, along with the car behind me, I still stopped to wait for him since he clearly wasn't going to (super strange). He then backed into my car, and didn't stop until I honked. I got out of my vehicle to tell him hey, you're hitting my car! He rolled down the window and said "NO, I'M NOT!" It was baffling because he was still physically bummer into my bumper. I tried to explain - literally, you are STILL in my car, he should get out and see. But he simply stayed in his car yelling that it wasn't happening. It really was bizarre. So when I went to get my phone to take a picture, he THEN pulled forward and was all - see I didn't hit your car. Aside from a small scratch - which he claimed he didn't see - he acted like the whole thing was made up. Fortunately for me, there was an eye witness parked directly next to us that saw the whole thing and tried to calmly (I was less calm) explain to the man that he saw the whole thing too. The unstable man then asked the witness 5 TIMES "But did you ACTUALLY see it?!", of which he responded, Yes. The Budget Blinds man then huffed away claiming we were crazy and then drove off (I have pics). Again, there was a tiny scratch so I won't report it. However, it was certainly such a bizarre experience with this man/van/place that I would be wary to use them for my home or recommend them to anyone. I do not need to work with potentially unstable people.

I'm not one to usually write a review and have never written a negative review in my life, but the…read morelack of communication and zero accountability here has lead me to post this. My wife and I made our order and paid the down payment on March 16th. We were told there was a chance we would get some of the order within 2 weeks and potentially could take up to 6 weeks for delivery. We never received an update after weeks passed, and after my wife tried calling and emailing multiple times we received one email a month later saying they would check status on our order...then we did not get a text until May 6th saying status was delayed. We've tried calling and texting multiples times with no response for the last 2 weeks and now we are coming on 10 weeks with no blinds and no status on where our order is. This is extremely frustrating especially with our down payment (50% up front). It does not seem like this is the norm for this company but our experience has been terrible so far. Hopefully they can make this right.
