I'm not one to usually write a review and have never written a negative review in my life, but the lack of communication and zero accountability here has lead me to post this. My wife and I made our order and paid the down payment on March 16th. We were told there was a chance we would get some of the order within 2 weeks and potentially could take up to 6 weeks for delivery. We never received an update after weeks passed, and after my wife tried calling and emailing multiple times we received one email a month later saying they would check status on our order...then we did not get a text until May 6th saying status was delayed. We've tried calling and texting multiples times with no response for the last 2 weeks and now we are coming on 10 weeks with no blinds and no status on where our order is. This is extremely frustrating especially with our down payment (50% up front). It does not seem like this is the norm for this company but our experience has been terrible so far. Had to replace a large front room window shade bc cord broke. David came out took the order and $1K of our money and said 2 wks BTW we don't accept CC anymore . Well guess what that was 2 wks ago and they have shuttered this business and Malina says now 4 wks (if she responds) it's BS. Once they came out, they were honest in which blinds were still good for a few years and which were on their way out, but we never felt upsold. We moved into a new home in Palos Verdes Estates in the spring of 2019. The house had drapes on all of the windows and sliding glass doors. We wanted a more updated look with white shutters and roller shades. Instead of reading reviews on the Internet, I called my daughter in Torrance and asked her the name of the person she used. My daughter indicated that she had made many changes, and David was more than accommodating in saying "no problem" to each one of her changes. I selected roller shades on all of the sliding glass doors since I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful views here in Palos Verdes. We have a black-out roller shade in our bedroom, and I am very happy with that decision also. The door leading to the backyard presented a problem because I didn't want a roller shade, and I did not think that the shutter would fit the door handle. We'd been shopping around for shutters and shades and came across So Cal on yelp. After collecting a handful of quotes, we decided to schedule a consultation. Pre-install: Melina, who answered all our calls and emails, was definitely on the ball with communication. We reached out to her on a Friday and because we weren't available that Saturday, thought we would have to wait until Monday to have someone come by. She was able to promise me a Sunday visit- something no other place was able to do. Consultation: David, the owner, came into our home and was very respectful and considerate. For example, took his shoes off upon entering. Out of all the other people who had come by, not one noticed we were bare foot in the house. This usually wouldn't be too big of a deal, however, it was a small indicator of the attention he paid to detail. He took the time to explain his products and BEST of all, the price was absolutely right. We ordered wood shutters for 4 windows, and shades for 3 bedroom windows, and the price was the BEST out of the 4-5 other local places we consulted with. Post-install: Our shutters were locally made and came in about 3 weeks! This was huge as the other places were anticipating 4-6 weeks! Our shades weren't ready just yet but Melina scheduled two separate visits so that we didn't have to wait. Shades only took another week so we had everything installed in the fourth week and I have to say, I am absolutely in love with my windows. David & Melina are the best for blinds! With my tenants already moved in, I had an urgent need for blinds for my rental and they overdelivered on their already super aggressive timeline. I called them on Monday after talking to a lot of others. The first conversation with Melina was super pleasant and she told me that she would give me a timeline and price. I called around 2:30PM, around 3PM I got the best price so far and she said they could be installed Tuesday next week. The next day David showed up as promised - again super pleasant and professional interaction. He measured everything in no time and said that he will be able to install them the following Tuesday. That's 5 business days! David called me on Monday and said he can install the blinds on Monday or Tuesday. I decided to have them installed on Monday. I met him at the rental and he did an amazing job and installed all 18 blinds within 2 hours. So I had the windows measured and installed within 4 business days. I know that this was super fast for them as well - but given that they went above & beyond for a customer they had never met before says it all. David & Melina will always be my first call for blinds in the future. Highly recommend them - it's rare to find this type of professionalism and service in this time of age. I had old silk curtains that were burnt out and disintegrating from sun exposure. David came out and offered great solutions and color/ material choices. No one else showed me ideas like a horizontal sliding black out curtain wall or shades that allowed adjustable amounts of lighting. David came on time and worked very fast, but did very good, quality work. The blinds look fantastic. He was clear to note that some of my windows required blinds that would have to sit on top of the window border and was very transparent about where there could be issues. He even offered for one of the windows where the shades bumped against our Simpli safe window sensor to completely redo this shade to cover the window border.
