I stumbled across this place multiple time while walking Corona Ave but never had the courage to walk in. Today was that day. I did my research and knew I was hungry for meat! Service: I got my order to go but, I waited inside to watch them cook! They immediately took my order let me look around. Remember all of these meats are made to order so it will take some time to cook them on the grill (~20 mins). Once my food was ready, they glady let me use my Amex and off I went! Food: I ordered skirt steak, short rib, and chorizo. It came with a side which was yucca fries. Tbh, I was scared. I purposely don't eat meat outside my house since no one can do a medium rare steak correctly. They made my skirt steak and ribs medium. However, still very tender. La Esquina Criolla has been on our bucket list. We were eager with protein, meat in a Sunday afternoon and decided to try this place which served solid Argentinian barbecue with convenient grab and go by phone. We ordered La Parrillada for 2 and the portion was more than enough for 3-4 people with great price. The sides were not special but were perfect add-on to the entrees. The quality of meat wasn't the best and even had coppery smell but tasted delicious especially with their unique sauce. read more

Usually this place is always amazing. This is the first time I have a negative thing to say. The service lacked and it seemed like the waitress was so lost that she brought our order wrong. Usually a parrillada for 2 consists a a decent amount a good shareable among 3-4. We came in around 7:45 pm. Ordered our usual, it lacked in quantity and flavor not to mention they missed something from the parrillada. The waitress tried to say she gave us an extra chorizo which was not true and I called her out on the missing item from the plate, to which she was completely lost as she disputed with the cook. The ambiance is no frills. In fat. It's a butcher shop / restaurant. They have a great selection of all cuts and the grilling is perfection. This place is amazing! Not only is the food great but so is the service. My family came here on a Friday night (towards the end of the night) and both servers Luciana and Iris were amazing. Even though they had already closed Iris told us to take our time eating and not rush. Luciana noticed my hands were full and helped me fill my son's bottle with milk. This type of service is rare, specially when servers are tired and ready to go home. We ordered the pork chops and shell steak, which were both cooked to perfection. I went to this Argentine spot a while back and forgot to write review where one of the groups I belong to went to try their parillada (or rather parillada completa.) we were set at two tables which was fine and our side ordered the more traditional parillada/Parrillada Argentino which had a mix of offal and the other side got the mixed steak one (I guess it would be parillada de bistek.) this came with skirt steak (entraña,) short rib (tira de asado,) sweetbreads (mollejas,) tripe (chinchulines,) kidney (riñón,) black sausage (morcilla,) and Argentine sausage (chorizo.) They list both as being for two people but it can easily feed three if not four. The skirt steak was good while the short rib was a bit chewy. The mollejas were good while I thought the trip was a little bit overcooked. The kidney was excellent as were both the blood and regular sausages. It was overall very tasty and worth it for the price and I tried a bit of the steaks from the pricier one which was good also. We got the ensalada russa or Russian potato salad as our side which was good. We also got a very good version of provoleta or grilled provolone in this case with a oregano based sauce. We also got dessert but I'm unsure which one. I think it was flan and maybe something else with dulce de leche (99% sure it wasn't the panqueues as I would definitely compared to the other Argentine spots) which I remember being reasonably priced and tasty also. Great Argentine spot! My family and I gathered to eat parrillada and we were not disappointed! It's a smaller place, for 7 people & a baby stroller we managed just fine. I recommend the carne empanada al horno aka beef empanada oven baked as opposed to fried. Argentine empanada are traditionally oven baked so if you want authentic definitely order that way. It's nothing special to look at but its roomy enough to come eat with at least a party of 10. I came again last night with my husband and his brother and wife. We ordered the skirt steak for 1 and my BIL ordered the parrillada for 1. My husband had the mashed potatoes with his steak and I had the potato salad. The steaks were cooked perfectly at medium rare the way we asked for it. My husband said the steak melted in his mouth like butter. Lol I tried his mashed potatoes and they were a bit dry for my taste and a tad bland. My potato salad was delicious though. Cold, with carrots and peas and good flavor. I had a sangria with my dinner which was a bit sweet and only had apples. I like various fruits in my sangria. Either way, it was good and didnt give me heartburn so that's a plus. The service was normal. Nothing out of this world. She wasnt overly friendly and just nice enough. In the past, we have noticed rude waitresses. One friend had grown up in Argentina, eaten at this restaurant a few times previously and remarked it was the closest she'd tasted to the real thing back home. We were accordingly excited to try this place. This is a butcher shop and homestyle family restaurant rolled into one, the the ambience is something in between a diner and an Argentinean aunt's catering business. Service is friendly and fast, after we ordered the waitress brought out fresh toasted bread and complimentary sausage to pair with it. Bread was warm and fresh and the sausage was a nice starter. We went with the combination grilled platters--that way we could try a variety of cuts and sides. Each combo comes with a side dish. Prices are $18-22 depending on the choice of meat. Between the four of us we got--two of the Tira de asado, vacio y entrana (short rib, flank steak and skirt steak), one Dos tiras de asado (two short ribs), and I tried the Lomo, chuleta y salichicha de cerdo (pork tenderloin, pork chop and thin Argentinean sausage). Personally the highlight of the pork combo was the sausage, followed by the pork chop. The pork chop was medium thickness and tender. Maybe because it was grilled, but tenderloin was a bit crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, but the crispy part was slightly dry for me--I think I'm used to a more moist tenderloin--however flavor was great. The BEEF. The short ribs--what beautiful thick succulent slabs of meat. Flank steak was a bit chewy in some parts but tender and moist. Skirt steak had a delicious marinade and was super tender too. Just thinking of this is making my mouth water. I would go back in a heartbeat and order all three cuts. We had four different sides to go with the combos: mashed potatoes, French fries, Russian potato salad, and lastly potatoes, beets and egg. The sides came in generous portions and overall were good, though nothing that blew my mind. They also provide chimichurri sauce in a small jar as a condiment, it was spot on--I think we nearly polished off the entire jar. read more

I noticed the popularity of this restaurant, so i decided to give it a shot. there is another argentinian restuarant across the street called el gauchito, both are similar in terms of quality, however different things were better at each establishment the interior here was simple and clean, the chorizo appetizers were a nice way to start off what can only be described as a trove of meat that I was prepared to consume here I ordered the Parrillada Completa, complete with Skirt Steak, Short Rib, Sweetbread, Tripe, Kidney, Black And Argentina Sausage, basically the works, and a nice sample to induct myself into argentinian cusine. to keep it short order the meats here and forget the offal meats / sausages here, the meats was done well; tender, moist and succulent, cutting into it required minimal effort and the taste of the meat was divine. The intestines and the kidney here however could use SERIOUS work, they did not clean the intestines and when i bit into it i saw what clearly look like the pigs last meal, which was not appetizing at all. the kidney smelled like a tasted like piss, the sausages were too salty and really were not appetizing at all. overall not a bad experience, just come here for the meat and there won't be any issues read more

My second review of this place. They do not disappoint as one of my favorite restaurant, not because they're good at everything. But because they're consistent with what they're good at. I started getting the 'papas' with my lunch meal instead of the rice, and they are amazing! Though I don't much care for the sandwiches there, Eh. They know me as the guy who 'never orders the pollo', They serve chicken with noodles stew for lunch specials on wednesdays and sometimes thursdays. But I personally don't like spaghetti noodles with my chicken... eck. I would get the regular grilled chicken with potatoes, but that's too boring, ya know? I'm that guy, yessir. The picky, annoying one. But I wouldn't waste my time being picky with a restaurant if they didn't have what I liked, Probably I would never come back to that place, like I have with several Spanish restaurants up on Roosevelt avenue or that Chinese restaurant that's 1 block away from my house. We ordered a chicken empanada, beef empananda, skirt steak for two with beans and rice as the side, and a side of plantains. Chicken empanda tasted much better than the beef since it was moist and not too dry. Skirt steak was delish. Plantains were good too. They also gave us an amuse bouche. I believe it was some type of sausages. Our glasses of water were always kept full. We sat for awhile waiting for the staff to come so we could take our leftovers home. Ultimately, we just flagged them down since I think they thought we were taking a break from the food. Then we waited awhile hoping at some point they would bring our check over. We had to flag them down for that also. There were only at most four tables at a time with two servers. During our dinner, an elderly Chinese lady came from outside to our table to sell us DVDs. It was just weird. When we left, we saw her right outside the restaurant trying to sell stuff. Plenty of street parking nearby.
