It' was very crowded the day before the 4th of July holiday but it was well worth the wait! The steaks I bought, ribeye and porterhouse, were very flavorful and very tender. I've been reading all the reviews and some of them. I don't understand they say the meat is good but it's pricey everywhere you go is pricey but I see everything here is fresh. You can't get that nowhere anymore. The quality I seen I never been there but by looking at every single picture by looking at the smiles on the work, his face and the owner you can't get more than that I am gonna go there, but when I see people put two stars in one star and then they say it's good stuff but it's pricey. They don't deserve two stars that's wrong from what I seen. I gave them five stars they deserve five stars. Every way you go as pricey. I've been to a lot of places and their meat doesn't look as beautiful as what I've seen and their prices ain't bad a lot of other places you go to you have to pay for that kind of me 20 something dollars a pound before you make a decision on giving somebody a low star score think about it. That's their future that's their business they make money this way and you do this to them. They lose money and I don't think it's fair. I don't even know them, but I watched all the pictures I made a judgment call and I feel that they deserve five stars and whoever gave two stars and less is wrong specially after they said the only thing that was wrong was the price is what do you want it for free? They gotta pay their lights. They gotta pay their mortgage. They gotta pay their employees. They have to pay for the food and look at the good prices as they get 1699 a pound 1599 a pound those are cheap for that kind of meat and it's beautiful cut. I'm a find a way to go down there and buy me because I know I'm gonna be happy. Please think about before you give them such a Low score don't do it unless it's something terrible and I don't see anything terrible this makes me sad. We have to keep businesses like this open so those big food chains don't take over and sell a garbage. They have all fresh meat. I've been coming here for a while without issue but the last time I came here, I bought only a single steak and was charged $30. I always get the same order and it's always around $23. I didn't think much of it since meat varies and I probably just got a much larger steak. When I went home, the steak wasn't bigger than my usual order so I weighed it (with the packaging) and it was still much lighter than the cost. They normally weigh it without the packaging as well. The cost isn't the issue, but it's very dishonest. I usually don't even think twice about my order and the cost, just pay and head home. Although I wasn't for sale when I walked into the meat market, there were plenty of other hunks of meat to devour. Upon walking in I snagged a ticket to wait in line...didn't know this was a thing and couldn't believe the amount of people in the shop for 9:30AM! Waited a fair amount of time for my number to be called. Maybe 15 minutes? They have 8+ workers in there not including the staff taking boxes in and out of the joint. Any who, I'm eager to dive into my brisket that did not cost as much as I had intended. Only $18.00 for 2LBS. Good deal for a sexy piece of meat. I'd cost a little more according to my better half. There's a reason why this place is always busy with a line. Not only is their meat quality excellent, their staff is wonderful, prices are pretty decent. For some reason it took me a few years before I finally tried this place in the height of the pandemic. At the time of my first visit, when they would only allow a few people in the store at a time and there was often a wait of about 30-60 min on weekends, the employee could not have been more patient with me in answering all of my questions about a particular cut of meat and how I might want it prepped to bring home. Every subsequent time they've been great - I've gone in for random beef bones for stock and suggested some veal when they didn't have one particular type. I took my friend's recommendation and visited the International Meat Market to buy some delicious skirt steak. I noticed that past reviews have mentioned that this place gets packed quick- which was very accurate lol. But don't let this discourage you from giving this meat market a try! Their quality of meat was phenomenal so a little crowded space is definitely worth it. The butchers helped me from the minute I arrived and welcomed me with the friendliest service. They asked what I was preparing and gave me some great recommendations and cut the meat to my preference. I prepared a ropa vieja for my family and we could definitely taste the difference in quality between our local supermarket meat and the meat from here. AND they take credit cards. Gitto sends out a printed circular weekly. The front of the circular, and the only name printed on anywhere on it is Gitto. When you go in the store and pick up the items, the workers say that the price printed is a Key Food price not Gitto price although like I said Gitto is the only name on the circular, Key Food is nowhere. It's like they are pulling a bait and switch just to get people in the store. Then when you point it out to the workers, they are extremely rude And don't want to honor the prices. Fuck Gitto. I really like this place, it's in a spot where you may think that they're closed, but they are not. You have to be buzzed in. It's really a hidden gem. They most deal with restaurants, but you can go in and receive a check list of all their products, and mark down what you want. The employees are very helpful. I've been here three or four times since I've moved in and the meat here is good quality, and cheap. Honestly, go to C-Town or Key Foods get the same cut and IMM will taste better. Go to Whole Foods or to get the same type of quality and you'll come away broker. The great thing about having freshly cut meat is that you can tell them how thick you want cuts to be. I've asked for about an inch and a half for steaks and it's been carved up fine and I've asked for chicken to be pounded super thin and they've done it just as easily. I could easily just walk the floor here and be amazed with all they have. I've come in at off hours so have never really had to take a ticket so instead I just look at the racks of spices and oils and other dry goods they stock (those can be a little pricey) while they prepare my order. Let me start by saying the meat is really high quality and the staff is awesome.But the one star is for the fact that they charge an arm and a leg on top of the regular prices and since you dont get a detailed bill you never realize what you ended up paying so much for, and the prices for cutting the meat are listed nowhere in the store. This time however to understand why I wnd up paying so much, I got only one item i.e. Lamb shoulder which was $5.99 a pound, however when our helper started weighing it he put in the price of $8.99/lb and I asked what are the extra three dollars for. So basically you end up paying extra 3 dollars for every pound if you get it cut, which in my opine is outrageous.
