(There are some other coffee shops in Paris that are similar in style, but if you *don't* eat animals and their secretions, any time you go to one of those "cool type" shops you have to settle for just a cuppa.) No! Us vegans want something to EAT, by jove. Thank God for Grounded. Everything is delicious and creatively presented, the hot chocolate is actually made with melted dark chocolate (um, SO GOOD,) and their menu is always evolving with the seasons. AMAZING food, guys. I'll be back -- hungry -- for more of their savory fare.

The two items we ordered were both SO good. We ordered some sort of toast that has almond butter, hazelnut butter, jam, and coconut flakes. It had the perfect amount of sweetness to satisfy a slight morning sweet tooth. The other item we ordered was the bowl of the month (or maybe it's the bowl of the week?) It, too, was wonderful, and so filling! Grounded is really cute and cozy inside, but I will say that it was HOT in this small space. Also, there isn't much seating in here. Maybe enough for 12-15 people. Still, the food here is incredible and the man working at the counter was so kind. Definitely stop in here if you can!

I think the reason you see brunch items in these pictures here is because they are sister restaurants and I bet the pics are mixed together because of that. I have seen that before with two restaurants that are owned by the same people.

On that fateful day I immediately knew that I would return someday...yes, I put that out in the universe, and thankfully the universe listened! Living in California and having an obsession with all things coffee and brunch is easy with so many options available (gotta love that California lifestyle!), but sometimes it's a challenge to satisfy these cravings when traveling in other countries. Well thank goodness Holybelly exists in one of my all-time favorite cities, Paris, and it has become one of my go-to spots when I get to travel here. This most recent visit, I had my usual Eggs with Sides (usually the sautéed mushrooms and green salad). My boyfriend had the Eggs with hash browns and beans so we could try a little bit of everything. We were hungrier than usual because we literally had just arrived in Paris from San Francisco, so despite our exhaustion from 15 hours of flights and layovers, we had our hearts set on making this our 1st stop! No time to waste! Food was amazing as usual, hit the spot perfectly, and our Flat Whites were rich and creamy. The only negative thing is that they don't have milk alternatives like almond milk or soy milk, but when in Europe, we don't get too picky because we know their dairy is much better quality anyway. It was wonderful to get to meet the owners Sarah and Nico this time as well, and they were incredibly welcoming and friendly when I decided to go up to them and introduce myself. You guys have a lifelong fan here in California, and I can't wait to return to Paris to checkout Holybelly 2 when it opens!!

The owner is straight forward to warn larger groups of the small tight spaces up top and wards off any NBA players without helmets as their is low clearance upstairs. The menu is all French and limited English by the servers but it's easy enough to navigate. We came with 5 for Sunday brunch and sat right away but one had to sort of share space at the table. We ordered mixes of omelettes and Benedicts. All came with nice small whole potatoes and a little sour cream. You can modify or add quite a bit. Eggs are your choice of style ultimately and apparently the brunch includes pancakes. We were confused by that and they come after you've eaten the other items. I'm not sure if we paid for that or not but we chose to move on without. It came with your choice of tea or coffee AND a small orange juice. The eggs were cooked very delicately and moist with cheese and good meat in the omelette. Overall it was a fine breakfast compared to croissants and coffee but a little expensive.

The space as a whole is extremely quaint, the ceilings are low but it adds to the charm. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming and the overall ambience of the restaurant was lovely really leaning into the egg and chicken theme. My husband and I both got omelettes and they were delicious and you can tell everything was fresh from the eggs, to the veggies in them, to the salad on the side and even to the spectacular crème fresh that came with the eggs. Would definitely return here on another trip to Paris. If you're looking for a fantastic egg breakfast look no farther this gem will be your go to.
