I enjoy going to this gym, it's one of my local locations that i go to, It's clean and bright. The locker rooms are nice and clean as well. You need a lock for the locker room. They have a nice lap pool that you can see through the glass window on the first floor There's 2 floors at the gym upstairs are the cardio, workout classes and basketball court. What I wish they had is a sauna or steam room which this location doesn't have. (However I did hear a possible remodel this summer...) The have an elevator too if you don't want to walk two flights of stairs. In the first floor are the weight machines and free weights the one on one training is an open space on the first floor. The staff is friendly, they also have a lounge area with a tv and outlets if you need to charge your phone or work on your laptop rest chill. They also have vending machines, prices kinda high but you're paying for convenience. Overall nice gym I go back to... and close to Mariano's and Starbucks that i also go to. read more

I had the chance to experience this location with my cousins with a guest pass and we had a great time and workout. Jim took care of us well and we were even able to enjoy the basketball court! Great light cardio option before a workout. It's interesting that many people aren't too excited about going back to the gym, back in New York City the gyms are getting packed again! The only hard-working person in this building is the lady who is constantly cleaning. The front desk staff, if present, are always looking down at their phone. And the "sales guys" are always at one desk yapping with each other. One even kindly hung up on me on the phone today. I have been having a good time with my membership! They offer numerous classes (I love cycling and core sculpting). The instructors are very approachable and helpful with guiding your experience. When I signed up with Isaac, he made sure I did the right package for me, and answered all of my questions. He put my mind at ease enough for me to try, and I fell in love with this place. I enjoy doing cardio and classes and some weights (I don't know much about machines, but alas, Isaac said any questions he would be happy to answer). Great customer service. I wish they had their own towels for members, but hey, can't win em all! Overall, awesome. read more

This location has been steadily declining since pandemic. No longer clean. Front desk is frequently not staffed, so anyone can, and does enter without using member code to enter. Staff congregates at Ricky's desk chatting and viewing videos on cell phones. After returning from lunch, sales staff goes upstairs to play basketball. Must be nice to get paid for doing nothing all day. LaFitness uniforms not worn by staff. Lights heading to locker rooms have been out for almost a year. Nobody has an estimated repair date. This new management for this location is the worst she sits @the front desk all day doing nothing but texting on her phone the other manager doesn't do anything either they don't walk around the gym and pick up the weights from the floor and put them back where they go or tell other workers to do it other workers sit watching television also instead of organizing the weights or outside cleaning the parking lot. The club opened on 11.7. 16. They are calling this a premium plus club. But it should be called a premium minus club instead since some amenities found in others clubs in the area are missing. Point in case, no saunas. The layout and size is all new. Cardio equipment is all upstairs along with group fitness classroom, basketball court, spinning rooms. Downstairs are the weight machines, kids club, locker rooms and pool. Depth wise, the club is short - I think it will feel crowded... I am giving a 3 star rating based on a walk though of the club because the size footprint is smaller than a typical club and the saunas are not there. (No steam either and I'm not sure if there is a whirlpool in the pool area - I don't think there is.) I am disappointed... Waited 2 years for this club to manifest. I go to a gym from Fall through Spring primarily for the sauna. What are they thinking? There are so many benefits to saunas and personally, I've had some really great conversations in saunas while allowing my aging muscles and bones to warm up before working out. I hope the club designers rethink the omission of the saunas. I for one would prefer to forgo a pool for the addition of saunas. This obviously is a big issue for me... read more

I'm home on "leave", I'm active duty military serving in the Marine Corps and I'm from Berkeley. I would just like to say that I believe LA fitness being such a huge company would allow active duty military in for free. I'm obviously not going to buy a membership if I'm here for a week I brought in a free week pass and when I made my intentions clear as far as not signing up they didn't let me work out. They said they were required to walk me around and talk about the gym because that was the policy. I'm just a service member that's trying to use your facility for 5 days or less. Broaden your policy LA fitness, being such a large company I imagined you would have lenient policy for service members I'll add that my sister gave me the week pass as she is a member at this location. On two occasions she's brought in a guest or two in order to workout with her. Both times she expressed to the employees that these friends will not become members and so they simply had them sign a waiver. This wasn't allowed for me. read more

This is a great place to workout. I am mostly a treadmill user and never have a hard time finding a machine. Gym is clean, bathrooms are clean. Really cant say I have any complaints. The parking lot is massive and it is next to a starbucks which is a bonus in the mornings :) I'd recommend this gym for sure. My other gym is in Ravenswood and I'm glad I have the Elmhurst location as a backup when I am visiting family or working out directly after work hours. Elmhurst LAFitness is ok but their corporate office is awful. I mailed them a cancellation letter (to CA) in April, they never processed it. Kept on billing me monthly $30 plus billed my annual fee $50. They finally refunded the monthly fee but not annual feel. While on the phone with corporate I was polite, calm, and professional with the rep, Sarah, who insisted she can not do anything about the annual fee. I asked if the company is ok with losing a client forever and what negativity comes with that due to reviews and word of mouth. I am a seasoned la fitness member originally starting at the Melrose park la fitness (after they took over ballys) then mainly I made the la fitness in oakbrook my go to place was excited for Elmhurst to open because I could get to that location first coming home from working in lincolnshire all day without having to battle the 83 traffic to get to oakbrook Pros. Clean. Neat. Quiet. Love the locker rooms. Love the automatic water dispensers so I can actually get my bottle full with water versus the typical water fountain. I also like that the class rooms are upstairs and the cardio equipment being upstairs Cons. The eliptical machines. I prefer the ellipticals at Oakbrook better. Elmhurst doesn't have the ones that are more like yhe stair steppers. I hate the ellipticals there that have the Yellow on them they're not wide person friendly Another con. Was walking in one day and I kind of felt singled out (due to me being heavy set) by the training manager guy. Acting like that was my first rodeo at the gym. He told me he's never seen me there before and I'm thinking to myself this gym has only been open for about 2 weeks so you probably haven't seen most people here before. After a long time procrastinating, I finally signed up for a membership with LA Fitness. Having multi-club gave me a few options for deciding upon a regular gym to visit along my daily commute. I started at Elmhurst, having my initial membership personal training consultation with Jen. First - the gym at Elmhurst is great. Everything looks new and the equipment was in top shape. Second - the personal training session with Jen was an A+. She went over my goals and suggested several options for how to utilize LAFitness' training options to stay motivated and get guidance along the way....very informative, knowledgeable, and fun discussion. The session also included a physical assessment (e.g. pushups, squats, biometrics, etc) and a run-through of a personal training workout. The workout kicked my butt :) All in all, a great gym with great staff! Happy to finally have my membership. read more

This is not a premium club plus if it is what is the Oak Brook, IL location. If you can just drive past this location a few blocks and go to Oak Brook location its on the same street. Elmhurst LA Fitness is new and that is the best feature. - - No saunas - No hot tub - No heavy bags - No towel service The showers are like high pressure car wash spay due to the water saver shower heads. I'm somewhat new to the gym membership scene. Everybody felt pretty welcoming. I already signed up for a fitness plan through my work so after the thorough tour, they sat me down with a Mat (trainer manager) to talk about fitness goals. No charge and zero pressure for anything. They gave a ton of guest passes, too. After building a profile, I scheduled the complementary training session for a week or so later. Had a few days to check out the gym on my own. Very clean, nice atmosphere. Never had to wait for free weights. They're always on the rack, too. I've been going for a few weeks now, and even at peak times in the evening, there have always been benches available. The machines are arranged in a logical setup and there is plenty of room on the mats - you never feel like you're in somebody else's space. I've been to the other nearby gym several times and it's just too small and crowded - and to be honest, has a rather powerful "gym smell". I don't get that here. After working out a half-dozen times or so, I had my complementary training scheduled with Jenny. Super friendly - totally understood where I was coming from with my existing knowledge and goals. She had some great exercises that I could do anywhere; corrected some form issues, too. She kept the high intensity going through the whole session so didn't even need cardio afterwards. I felt energized rather than drained afterwards; I definitely got a good workout. I could feel the burn you get from a solid workout. I always have such an issue getting that on my own. The training was definitely worth it. I've felt more encouraged to keep coming back than I ever have at other gyms. I've been to several other gyms but never stuck past the first few weeks. I definitely don't have any intention of going elsewhere, and foresee a good path forward to reach my fitness goals. read more

've been a member since October and have been very pleased, until I checked my bank account this month and found that they overcharged me by $260 for an additional month of personal training for my wife that we did not want. My wife told the guy at the front desk a few weeks ago that she had every intention of discontinuing the training at the end of the 6 months that we signed up for, but they have no record of him having reported that conversation so they continue to charge us. She was told she would not have to do anything else, that the charges would stop after 6 months... Wrong. And they will not refund the $260. We have no choice but to use up the remainder of our personal training sessions and then cancel the membership. It really makes no sense from a business point of view because if they would refund us the $260, they would continue to make $750 a year from our regular membership dues, for many years to come... we might even use the personal trainer for future sessions, from which they would make much more money! But no, they'll lose all that over $260 and we'll simply go over to FFC. Steer clear my friends, the company is a joke. No clue about customer service. read more

Everyone needs to stop what they are doing and sign up for this gym. I truly recommend this gym to anyone and everyone who is looking to make a change for the better. This LA Fitness a great investment. This gym is the perfect catalyst to meet your overall wellness goals. The facility is extremely clean, the environment is modern and inviting, the equipment is top of the line, staff is extremely friendly/caring/knowledgeable, the members are extremely friendly, the classes are incredible, and the set-up has an overall inviting vibe...I could go on and on. I was extremely nervous about getting back into the gym because I lack the knowledge on how to properly workout in many different areas without hurting myself...a typical gym anxiety I've been told; however, the manager, Luke, and the trainer who worked with me to get it all started, Matt, were very patient with me and assured me that they, and all staff, would be behind me 100% of the way. Both Matt and Luke were very encouraging and helpful. I trust them. They not only took the time to answer my zillion random questions about fitness, nutrition, exercise techniques, etc., but they also then provided further education on the questions I was asking, unprompted. The staff here mean what they say. They will meet you where you are at and will support you every step of the way. They not only showed this through words while I was there, but they also showed this by keeping in contact with me outside of the gym in a very professional, friendly manner. Further, Luke, Matt, and all the other staff I've encountered are extremely knowledgeable about the holistic approach of wellness and discuss things such as nutrition and diet as a part of moving towards positive change. Something, other gyms myself, friends, and family haven't reported experiencing with a gym membership. I signed up to work with a personal trainer for 3x per month. I have not had my first session yet, but my personal trainer called me and we discussed our upcoming session briefly. Even over the phone, I feel that Trish and I are going to be a perfect fit. Our family is military and PCsing to another state, just driving through but I desperately needed to go to the gym after 3 days of road trip. My mom recommended the gym here, so I went online for a coupon trial to use the gym, to my surprise Isaac (an employee here) called me after I filled out my online request and he took care of all I needed so I can go to the gym; he was diligent, eager to help, willing to listen, and responsive. Perfect club for the price. It's clean and all of the equipment is new. They have a ton of free weights, hammer strength machines and traditional machines. Upstairs they have all of the Cardio Equipment you need. Top that off with a basketball court and swimming pool and you can't ask for much more for the price. A couple of tips for those that don't like high pressure sales. Sign up online, they have really good deals that are national and not much different from what you can get face to face at the club. Also, you aren't obligated to use the free training session they give you. Just say no and then stop responding to the inquiries if you aren't interested in personal training they eventually go away. Good gym for the price. For those complaining about amenities, you should probably fork over some more money for the type of gym you are looking for. read more
