This LA Fitness was the worst gym I have ever been to. I am a gym rat; therefore, I give most gyms grace as long as they have the equipment and members/staff respect the GYM. However, this place charges me 20 dollars for a day pass. Let me tell you what I got for my 20 dollars. 1) There were no cleaning supplies on the gym floor (i.e., disinfected wipes and/ or disinfected spray&rag). You can imagine all the sweat and body liquids that were built up on the equipment, yuck!  2) The level of respects for the gym was zero! The members/guests do not re-rack the equipment. There are free weights scattered across the gym, like sand. I have to go on a hunt to find a matching pair of weights. Worst of all, the employee does not care to track members' weights. Note: It is the employee's job ultimately to care for the gym.  3) The gym pool grants access to the family and their children for a fee. Suppose the condition of the gym floor is poor. I have concerns about the pool's sanitation and the children's safety.  Because if the main floor gym is unsanitary, I have major concerns about the pool. read more

THIS GYM GAVE ME AND MY FAMILY STAPH INFECTIONS!!!!!!! This gym is honestly a joke. Upon the beginning of my time there ( I've been going for 3 years now) everything seemed pretty normal. However, over time I've noticed that the gym had a horrible stench when you walk in. The entire gym floor is covered in CARPET, in which you can see visible dirt stains on the ground from god knows what, And where the machines are from PEOPLES SWEATTT. Never in all of the gyms I've worked at, have seen this type of layout and uncleanliness. Not only this, but near the juice bar area, you can literally see and SMELLL THE ROTING BANANAS IN THE FRIDGE. and to accompany this rotting smell there is a huge stain right underneath this cooler too. So you can see, smell and practically taste exactly where the smell is coming from. Not only this, but when I had came with my mother to visit the gym. In which I had paid a membership fee for, I was stopped in front of the entre gym, while the employees put my information on display, while other members were entering, trying to validate my membership. The third insane occurrence at this establishment is, my sister came in to the gym and had an altercation with members of the gym, over a machine that was not working. To this day, her and I STILL get harassed by three women who were the aggressors in the altercation. Nothing was revoked from their memberships. They are still free to go in and harass anyone they'd like to over ignorant issues. Now, THE LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT THING, My sister, her boyfriend, and myself have all contracted STAPH INFECTIONS. this gym doesn't not provide consistent cleaning products to their clients. Half the time I go in and am not able to get cleaning wipes to clean equipment before my workout. Anddd it is not heavily encouraged and displayed to clean your equipment throughout the gym. I have been working out at many many gyms for about 5 years now, and none of them had CARPET AS FLOORING, and I have never contracted STAPH EVERRRRR. And never had altercations like the ones I have at this sorry gym. Not only this but I have had people who work in the gym tell me about how unprofessional the staff there is. Out of all of the personal trainers there, my friend was the only one that was NASM certified, let alone certified at all. This gym is a great way to waste your money, time, and health all in one place. I strongly encourage you find any other gym to go to than this. My name is Diego, and I'd like to formally express my dissatisfaction with the experience I had at the QUEENS - SOUTH CONDUIT location and formally request a refund for the membership I signed up for approximately two weeks ago. From the beginning of my experience at the gym, I noticed a series of issues that completely compromised my experience as a customer. During my first two visits, I was able to complete my leg and back workouts without any problems. However, when I attempted to train chest, I noticed a lack of essential equipment such as dumbbells and triceps bars. I found this very strange, as I've been training for over 20 years and have never encountered this kind of limitation in a gym. Only after asking the staff did I find out that at this location, in order to use certain equipment, you must go to the front desk, leave a personal ID or valuable item (such as your phone or watch), and then retrieve the accessories. According to the staff member, this policy exists due to previous incidents of theft by other members. I find this policy completely inappropriate and uncomfortable. No member should be subjected to this kind of procedure just to complete a basic workout. Furthermore, this information was never disclosed to me when I signed up, which I consider extremely serious. When I sat down with the representative to register, he should have informed me of this specific policy. Had I known this in advance, I would have never signed the membership -- which seems rather obvious. Instead, this information was only disclosed after the contract had already been signed, which I see as a serious failure in transparency and customer service. Three days after signing up, feeling frustrated, I returned to the gym and requested to cancel my membership. The staff member was understanding, acknowledged the issues, and assured me that the refund would be processed. He also told me he would call the next day to confirm the refund, but that never happened. After a few days without any follow-up, I went back to the location, and unfortunately, was treated extremely rudely by the manager, who showed a complete lack of empathy and refused any possibility of a refund, instead referring me to a phone number where, after several attempts, I also received no support. I would like to emphasize that I only used the service for three days, and that the conditions offered at this location do not reflect the standard one would expect from a professional gym chain. More seriously, these conditions were not disclosed prior to signing the contract. Given all this, I respectfully reiterate my request for a full refund, considering that the lack of transparency during the sign-up process, combined with the equipment access limitations imposed by this location, have violated the trust and good faith that should exist in any service agreement. The woooooooooorst gym. I've been coming here for years only because of convenience. It's either I'm harrassed by men for the la home. The establishment won't do anything. On several occasions men have became aggressive towards me to intimidate me off a machine.No matter what management it's under. What staff changes there's no change. There's no cleaning supplies, they change it to those ridiculous wipes. Okay same thing they never restock. It shouldn't matter when it's open. It's about 930am and there's no wipes the gym opens at 6 am. This neighborhood is horrible and so is the gym. There's better LA fitness. I wish they took pride in the machines. I used to love this gym but the hot tub hasn't worked in months and that was one of the only reasons I joined this gym. There's a Planet Fitness across the street for half the price and similar amenities. There were some incidents recently where staff allowed another member to throw away other people's items and then someone stole another person's wallet from their gym bag. It's declining in quality and I'm considering terminating my membership. I don't recommend joining this gym right now. Machines are broken all the time. Maintenance is definitely lacking. read more

This LA Fitness is the only convenient location to where I live SADLY. The staff are very moody especially the receptionist woman with the locs. I walk in and she'll just look at me and look away even if I greet her, I get ignored. It's very rude being that I'm such a warm person and stand firmly on hospitality. The establishment itself needs lots of work, this is the dirtiest LA I've been to and the dark lighting doesn't help. The equipment needs to be checked throughly, there are several machines that stay "out of order" or broken without acknowledgment for months on end and when you bring it to their attention they just brush you off. The locker room reeks! The pool seems fine, I've yet to take a gander at it. They finally put up a screen for scheduled classes. Imagine walking into the stretching area (big room with mirrors) and ask what time the class starts and ends, then being met with attitude and huffing and puffing and being told that "teens don't pay attention anymore." I'm 25 and there's wasn't any information to know when a class is happening. The staff is majority Black, which is SEVERELY DISAPPOINTING, fix the attitudes, be more welcoming, and please fix the machines. I am paying $39 a month and the men's locker room is filthy. It has only one paper towel dispenser with actual paper towels. Some of the soap dispensers don't have soap. The dispenser in the actual bathroom never has paper towels and now the sauna is condemned by NY due to health issues, so that's not working. As a business owner, I am reluctant to post critical reviews, however the precipitous decline at this facility must be considered for all potential guests. The Howard Beach location is hands down the worst facility I have experienced in my 20+ years visiting many different gyms across the nation. It is so bad that guests have been forced to bring their own equipment (clips, ropes etc). In fact, some lucky guests if they are lucky can use the clips and other equipment if they leave collateral (car keys, ID etc). To make matters worse, the carpet is literally eroded in many parts of the gym and dozens of machines are rusted and/or inoperable! This type of organization has little sense of capital improvement or quality service. You have been warned! read more

This is honestly THE WORST gym I've ever gone to. I've gone to gyms (LA Fitness locations) in Harlem, The Bronx, Queens, Long Island, & Hollywood. As well as other gyms (NYSC, Crunch, Blink, Planet Fitness, etc) over the course of my adult life and this is hands down the dirtiest, most unprofessional, and least maintained one of them all. The staff barely acknowledges you when you walk in. They're almost always hanging out, talking loudly, and treating the place like their personal hang out spots. The women's locker room is also pretty disgusting. Many members are on their phones, having arguments and yelling more times than not. Others will play music in the sauna.. Which is supposed to be a place of relaxation and escaping the world. Not where you go to hear people scroll their social media with the volume turned up. There was even an incident (argument btwn members for lack of respect from one party to the other) where a man walked into the women's locker room, then two male staffers entered shortly after. One of the women involved in the argument was completely naked when they came in and had to run for a towel to avoid being exposed. WTF? The machines are always broken/not working and giving errors messages. The weights are rarely in the racks. The front door to the establishment has been broken for who knows how long?! The toilets don't work and often have fecal matter sitting for hours at a time or just leaking water from the sides. Honestly, the only reason I still come here is because it's the only gym in the neighborhood with a sauna. I use this for health reasons and refuse to compromise my health because staff and members don't understand gym etiquette. I'm looking forward to the day when a better location opens around here. LAFitness in Lake Success (New Hyde Park) is a "Signature Club". Many of the cardio machines on the mezzanine are either completely not functioning or are not working properly. The front desk has been telling disgruntled members since the fall of 2023 that they, "are waiting of parts". Perhaps it's (past) time for the lease or purchase of brand new machines! Well I'll be darn, an area that was once used as a dumping ground for the mob now houses a full service gym with a swimming pool and parking lot. How things have change...I'm no gym rat or expert. In order for me to be satisfied I appreciate cleanliness, friendly staff and the ability to use the machines. I have gotten all of the above. The locker room, restroom and sauna has been clean any time I have used them. Although my interaction with the front desk has always been all of 10 seconds I have gotten a hello with a smile. The energy you put out is what you are returned with. Neil and Anthony were very helpful showing me around and welcoming me to the club. Since signing up I have had to wait for a treadmill on one occasion but I am sure there are peak times where this can be expected. Having parking, a pool, secure lockers for your small personal items under camera surveillance is comforting. The yoga class with Stephanie is good as you get a good stretch but you have to be mindful it's a yoga class in a gym, the environment may not always be zen and peaceful. My personal trainer is pricey yet awesome, he will remain nameless because I want to keep him for myself. Typically I come here to satisfy my minimal workout requirement in my head and go home. Nothing more and nothing less but overall this gym works for me. read more

Great gym! I got a chance to visit this gym with a friend of mines. It's pretty big and spacious with lots of work out equipment. Several machines of the same type helps out tremendously, especially when it's rush hour. The parking makes it very convenient. They have a nice set up and overall layout of the gym. I didn't get a chance to try out their classes but they have a great selection. I did get a chance to try out their juice bar which was filled with great selections. I wish this gym was a lot closer to where I live, that's usually my deal breaker for a choice of gym that I pick. Even though they do have a sauna, it would be nice if they had a steam room to go with it as well and provided towels. That's also something I look forward to and changed my gym experience. This is by far the worst gym I've EVER been too. The front desk staff lacks mannerisms and will rarely greet you when you come in, the weights are all over the place, usually only one sink in the bathroom has soap (out of 7/8 sinks) and usually the soap is diluted. Today, the cleaning guy Pablo started to bang on the sauna door and aggressively yell at a guy because he forgot to take his shoes off before going into the sauna. I am writing a review for this La Fitness location, which is by far the worst gym I've ever been to in my 20+ years of working out. The men's bathroom is filthy, and the stainless steel part of the toilet is rusting and corroded. Please bring all your supplies when you come to this gym; if you think you're going to get a good cable workout, you will be mistaken. This gym has no cable accessories, so go on Amazon and purchase your own. Weights are all over the place, and different areas of the carpet are worn out. I never see anyone cleaning this gym. Currently the pins you use to choose a weight for every machine is gone. In other words, probably 60% of all machines are useless unless you bring a metal pin of your own. Previously, the grips for the cable machines were non existent either or you had to give colateral, in the form of keys or an ID, for the few they did have or buy your own. Let's not even talk about the possibility of them losing that collateral. This place is a joke and a waste of money. Took months for them to buy more grips and it's been weeks without the pins. They could do something about the pins and buy some temporary metal pin replacements to use meanwhile but instead they tell you, "we don't know when the pins are coming in." I will be signing up to planet fitness for $10 a month and will no longer pay $60 to this waste of a gym. I recommend you do the same read more

Zumba with Deborah is spectacular but very packed! Well because she's the BEST!!! and any body works class with Guissepe is great! I've been coming to this gym for years, but since the start of the pandemic the quality of this gym has dramatically plummeted. There are never any dumbbells available (there's literally 1 set of 5lbs and 10lbs dumbbells in the entire gym so good luck snatching those) the benches are always taken, and none of the machines have attachments. No matter the time of day, it's always packed. I ended up having to purchase my own metal hooks AND attachments in order to complete my workouts which is ridiculous. I've since terminated my membership and now attend a private gym. It's more expensive but the quality makes it worth the price bump. read more

This gym is woefully understaffed, and a lot needs to be done to make this place worthwhile. Aside from the lack of staff, the other main problem is some of the members. Dumbbells are never in their right spot... Forget about finds the 50s in their spot on the rack. They're halfway across the gym by the cable machine because some idiot didn't put it back. Additionally, some members are outright animals. On two separate occasions I found feces on the floor or on a toilet. The first time, I didn't report it to see if would be tended to by staff. After a two hour workout, it was still there. I reported it on the way out. The second time, I immediately reported it. 40 minutes later on my way out, i checked it out and it was still there. Other issues... The sauna is nowhere near hot enough. The whirlpool has more chlorine in it than water. Oh, and did I mention some of the members need to get booted? read more

So after going for about a month and t went from five stars to two stars. Reasons and these are just a few. I haven't the slightest idea whose in charge of re racking weights but with so many people sitting at the desk to check in or at the membership registration area with feet up and no shoes on someone could. The weights are literally never racked I've come at 5am when the gym just opens and I'm walking around the gym looking for weights and they're all racked in the wrong areas 5 pounds on 80 pound location. The locker room bathrooms aren't cleaned regularly, planet fitness shouldn't be beating La Fitness in terms of racked weights. Depending what time you come people are there with big speakers playing music all over the gym which is so annoying, especially when you can hear it over your headphones. They do not have adequate amounts of cleaning items to clean the machines and benches after use or before. Many of the BowFlex like machines are missing the attachment pieces to use the machine, so people either bring there own or crowd the two that have working equipment. Upon signing up I was informed someone would Call for personal Training and as one game with the membership, I'm still waiting on said call a month later. When did this location open? This place is the worst location I have ever been to and i'm glad I didn't jump into getting a membership because of the easy commute. The equipment is dated and the treadmills make a lot of fucking noise.
