I came here for the swimming pool and it was kept in good conditions. It was a cold evening and the pool was heated which was very nice. The pool was long enough to get a nice laps workout. I also explored the machinery and there were lots of experienced machinery to work in certain parts of the body. There should be signs thought out the gym reminding people to be mindful about their use of cell phones and eating in the gym. This gym has become super disappointing over time. The machines are forever out of service. The water fountain downstairs was out of service for weeks. The men's sauna has been out of service for a month. People don't re-rack their weights which isn't surprising but stuff is all over the gym and not maintained/organized by staff. The staff typically has the barcode scanner facing out and don't usually interact with the members coming in. It's very rare I get greeted or acknowledged by staff (which is fine - simply commenting in their customer service). It's frustrating that we're paying for amenities that are out of service for so long (specifically speaking for my boyfriend who has been frustrated with the sauna not working for so long). The attachments for the cables are extremely hard to find. I've seen some laying around in random areas of the gym. It's to the point that we purchased our own cable attachments to bring with us. The gym is typically dirty all around. I go at like 6 in the morning so it's not like it's 6pm and it's the day's worth of mess. The dust build up is a daily issue it just never looks like it's been touched. The gym is just not taken care of. It's to the point that we purchased our own cable attachments to bring with us. Fairly new and clean gym. Not as crowded as I expected on a Monday and around 5PM which I described as the jungle hours of most of the gyms in the area. I recently joined LA Fitness and overall, I'm satisfied with my experience. Like any gym, there's some broken equipment, which seems common across big fitness chains. I reached out to customer service via email regarding the sauna, and they responded promptly, but parts have been back-ordered for months with no repair in sight--at this point, it feels pointless to keep following up. On the plus side, cleanliness is above average. The cleaning crew is always around doing their part, and while I've seen complaints about this in other reviews, I honestly think some members are more to blame than the facility itself. The staff is clearly making an effort. This gym has the potential to be a 5-star facility if they addressed equipment repairs with a bit more urgency. Also, for a gym with tons of equipment, it's surprising that there's hardly any space or racks dedicated to stretching. One consistent positive is the front desk staff--they're always pleasant, greeting me with a 'good morning' and sending me off with a 'have a nice day.' Small things like that make a difference. I've been going to this location for more than a year now; my two daughters also have memberships. Due to the behavior of other members, I'm uncomfortable with them being there. The amount of pot smoking at LA Fitness in Lodi is astounding. Every day, there are one or two cars filled with young men who are smoking pot; they then go in to play basketball or work out. While that's not LA Fitness' problem, here's what is: The locker room reeks of pot, and I've seen men smoking while taking a break from basketball -- in the basketball court area, IN THE GYM. I also saw a pair of gentlemen, accompanied by a woman, take a few puffs from a vape in between burpees IN THE GYM, on the green nylon sports turf. I doubt that any employees will enforce rules and/or confront these offenders, as at least one employee also smokes on the premises. Yes, I've seen him quickly putting something in his pocket as he comes out of the "unisex" bathroom, which then has a strange smell. Hmm... That's not all: There's a large population of men who walk around or work out shirtless. Seriously? Does NO ONE observe rules and decorum here? I'm not talking about the basketball enthusiasts who come off the court for a quick drink at the water fountain -- I mean the constant influx of shirtless men upstairs on cardio equipment, downstairs on the weight room floor, or simply leaving the locker room and walking through the gym to the exit with no shirt on. I don't want my jr. high school daughters at a gym with young men who are obviously trying to show off their bodies walking around half-dressed. I also don't want them working out at a pot-infested gym with people literally using marijuana in front of them. At this point, LA Fitness in Lodi feels like an unsafe environment. I've talked about this on the gym floor with another displeased member, and his plan of action is to contact the Lodi police and ask them to patrol the parking lot more often. Out of all the la locations I've tried in NJ this one is my best option. On a scale of LA filthiness it's like 7-8/10. Trust that better than average. Well lit. Does get crowded in the evenings but unlike other locations you can get to the machines/weights you need pretty quickly. Only once I had a lady hogging two machines going back and forth and ignored me when I asked which machine was she using. The only thing I wish this LA fitness has are more cleaning solution and paper towels throughout. It's concentrated in one area so not many people clean the machines especially if you're at risk for losing the machine you were just eyeing. read more

Managers change on the regular, the main guy that was cleaning the place well with blue hair is gone and now the place looks dirty. Bathroom sanitizer liquids, soaps and TP's are often empty. This place is awesome. I recommend this location especially with staff that are professionals and extend out to their customers on a consistent basis. Not only is the location itself impressive, they also have a large parking section at the busy hours of the day. I recommended this gym a few years ago even when they just opened. This gym has been stirring up quite the commotion in Lodi. My job has partnered with them and we were at their Member Appreciation day. The gym is beautiful and definitely esthetically pleasing. You've got some cardio machines on the first floor, all your weights, basketball court, spin room and pool. On the second floor you have all your cardio machines and the aerobics room. It's a lovely set up and definitely better than my old LA Fitness. While I'm not a member, I've worked with a lot of the managers and employees and they're very friendly. It seems like a great new addiction to the town. There's lots of guest passes and specials right now before they're grand opening. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Just want to ask... is it the staff's fault you don't put the weights back? No. Is it the staff's fault customers leave their garbage all over the floor and don't clean the machines? No. The problem here is the clientele. I've lived all over the US, but sadly was raised just up the street from where this place is (I remember when it was a chemical plant). They're a**holes. Went in to cancel my personal trainer contract that you can cancel and get a refund if you do so within 72hours. They will say things to you to try to keep you in the contract. Anything you agree to just make sure you get it in writing. I talked to Paul and he told me he canceled it and that he also canceled my appointments. I asked if there would be written confirmation or email for canceling my contract like they do when you sign up. He told me "they will send you one in 10 business days when they refund you" I felt uneasy and knew he was lying to me. I called the corporate line at (949) 255-7200 to confirm if it was canceled. On the phone they told me it was not canceled and called the fitness center to confrim I went in. the woman on the phone was told Paul was not available when customer service tried to reach him. The customer service woman on the phone then went ahead and canceled it for me. I received an EMAIL IMMEDIATELY notifying me it was canceled and that I would receive a refund. I am upset that I was lied to and mislead. Why can't people just be honest. I went ahead and went to another location to cancel my membership. I am not going to give money to a place that lies to and misleads their members. Also when you sign up ask to read the contract. They will just tell you to sign and not inform you of what you are signing but ask to read it. Also the parking lot is a mess. Do not go here, it's expensive for what it is. The equipment is ok but you can never use any of it anyway because there's way too many members. The bathrooms are extremely gross and I tried to cancel the membership which you can only do Monday through Friday 9-5. In the past six months, this gym has become pathetic . All the cable machines have gone through various repairs and they take their time to repair them. All the cable machines are missing their cable attachments. Certain other machines are needing of repair but they take so long to repair them. The dude on the phone told me it's impossible to cancel the membership over the phone (which is BS because I just did it) so he lied first of all. Second, their office management closes at 5?? On weekdays? When people have work until 5? Hmm I wonder why! Then I had to leave work early go to the facility, then they made me wait an hour and I had to REMIND the guy again that I'm here and he's response was "oh ya! Sorry forgot you were here" WHEN I WAS WAITING FOR AN HOUR. Then he proceeded to cancel my membership and gave me a thumbs up and told me I was good. Then today, I see that I have been charged for 4 MONTHS when I literally cancelled it! Then I called them over the phone outraged and had to connect me to corporate because they were incompetent to take care of it themselves. Never got a refund, and finally cancelled my membership. Please save yourself the trouble, the employees there don't care about you or their jobs. It's the least friendliest place to go work out, the equipment is old and dusty. My sister and I have both had multiple issues with them and if I were to list them all we would be here all day. The gym is filthy as well, especially the women's locker rooms. I tried to cancel my membership but you either have to do it in person between 9-5 during the week or call corporate. Because I work, like most people, I chose to call corporate. I called three days in a row and was on hold for about an hour each time before the phone hung up. I had to take a day off of work to go in and cancel. The following day after canceling I was charged two additional fees and was told that if I didn't want to be charged I should of canceled 5 days prior to my billing cycle, which I tried doing. When I first started coming the weights were left around all out of order but the manager Mike got his team together and the problem has been fixed. Staff is rude and untrained. My brother and I decided to sign up for the 5-day guest pass that allows you to bring a friend in with you, so it should be good for two people. Upon arrival, the front desk felt very unfriendly and we immediately got denied entry because I didn't have a guest pass, even though my brother had his guest pass since mid-week. On the club's website it clearly states that guest passes are good for you and a friend. Instead we got offered a 1-day pass for me that costs ~$30 and we got denied to talk to a manager because the staff is too under-trained to know how the club's guest passes work. The Paramus branch was closed at 5am, so I called the Lodi branch to see if they can contact someone at the Paramus branch to wake them up or find out why no one open the doors yet. The girl who answered the phone was really rude with me, and when I asked her to see if she can contact the corporate office, she was like "thank you for letting me know how to do my job" and hung up the phone. Had a terrible experience at this location. Was visiting out of state and wanted to use the free guest pass perk and was informed that they could not approve a pass if you had an out of state ID. Keep in mind I was with a member who has access to every location. The manager, Lauren, did a horrible job of finding a solution and communicating this policy. She was willing to have me pay for something that was included as a membership perk. I would not recommend anyone to use this facility. The legendary LA Fitness has finally opened in the heart of downtown Lodi. When you walk into the facility the service desk is directly in front of you. The pool and hot tub to the right and kids center and weight machines to the right. Walk past the service desk and you will run into the basketball court and spin class. Make a left and if will lead you to an elevator and locker rooms. If you are lazy like me you will take the elevator up to the cardio machines on the 2nd floor. Or you can take the stairs that are not too far away. When you go into the locker rooms they are immaculate so far. They also attach to a steam room and bath room. Twice a month they have a membership appreciation day where they have local vendors come down and hand out coupons and free samples. Very nice in my opinion. The staff that I have encountered so far are super nice and will work with anyone. The best part about it, it there is a GREAT CLIPS right across the street and this particular location gives amazing haircuts. Everyone should check it LA Fitness and then head on over and check out the plaza across the street which includes a 7/11, Family dollar, TD Bank, GREAT CLIPS, and others.
