I'm extremely disappointed with the way I was treated at the LA Fitness located at 6461 Plantation Center Dr, Raleigh, NC 27616. I'm visiting family here in North Carolina and came by this location with my fiancé. I'm a paying member based in California and didn't realize my membership didn't include out of state access. When I scanned in, the guy at the front desk immediately asked if I was from here. I explained that I was just visiting, but instead of offering help or explaining options, he was rude, dismissive, and made no effort to assist. There was no explanation, no attempt to offer a guest pass, upgrade, or even a basic welcome. He simply turned us away, without care. I even called my home gym in California, and their manager was very kind and understanding. They said that this location could have offered a courtesy pass but when I brought it up, the staff here, especially the manager Daniel, refused and acted like I didn't matter. It was honestly one of the most unwelcoming gym experiences I've ever had. To compare after leaving LA Fitness, I went to Planet Fitness nearby, and guess what? I'm not even a member there, but they gladly welcomed me in, offered me a free guest pass, and treated me with kindness and respect. Their staff was professional and accommodating, something this LA Fitness location seriously lacks. I've always had great experiences at my home LA Fitness in California, where staff are helpful and friendly. But this Raleigh location made me feel disrespected, unimportant, and embarrassed. I wasn't trying to get in for free I would've upgraded on the spot if someone had just taken a moment to explain. Instead, I was kicked out like I wasn't even a member. Really upsetting experience. LA Fitness corporate should be aware of how this location treats loyal members from out of state. read more

Back when I lived in Winston, this was definitely my go to gym and now that I live 30 minutes away I still make the drive to come here because no gyms in the area even compare. The short Black man at the front desk was very rude. I was home visiting family. I am ashamed to say, I'm from NC. I went online the night before & got a 3 day pass. The membership representative another short man, but Latin denied my 3 day pass. They were unprofessional and did not follow through with my 3 day pass. This is FALSIFICATION of endorsing and promoting 3 day passes. The gym was EMPTY that was a warning sign or red flag. Why push away a proud North Carolinian Black Successful Woman wanting to workout out on my vacation. I live in NC during the holidays and summer breaks so with a little convincing from the unprofessional workers or front desk staff. I would have BOUGHT the membership or PAID $20 a DAY to use the gym. I'm extremely saddened plus disappointed cuz I'm sure they have this attitude with all women. I observed only one woman in the gym out of about 7 people working out and she was the custodian, cleaning the floors. Do not go to that gym!!! Run from the tiny elf-men (2), because they have a chip on their shoulders, and do not want to do their job along with encouraging females to workout in a nonjudgmental or inclusive environment. GYM ALERT in Raleigh,NC (off Capital Blvd in the Plantation Shopping center, where the old Lifetime Fitness was) : As of Wednesday 2/22/23 has opened up as LA Fitness. I walked in and asked for a tour(so this review is of the tour only). It still had that new smell and you could even see paint on the base of the doors while walking in, but nevertheless people were there working out. I was greeted kindly and given a clipboard to fill out some preliminary info about my fitness goals, how did I hear about the gym, etc My daughter and I were given a tour by Randy, who took around the space and advised we could take pictures to show my husband who was not with us but had interest in seeing the space. Since I worked out at the previous gym that was there, I was interested in seeing what changes were made. It is definitely a layout that allowed for more equipment and bigger and brighter group class rooms. The women's locker room had new lockers but the sauna inside didn't appear to get any upgrade space wise. It still is a pretty small sauna for such a big gym IMO. No group class info yet as they are still hiring and figuring out what will be offered but in looking at their other locations, there may be yoga,Zumba,cycling and more. We sat down at the end of the tour to learn more about membership but since my husband wasn't there, I got a copy of the info so we can discuss options. Note-There is no kids room like they had before at Lifetime Fitness. To get a preview of what it would be like to workout here, definitely go online at lafitness.com and get a FREE 3 day pass. I took a tour (my daughter took pics, see below) and as of now they don't know what group classes they will have but are hiring. The cardio room and cycling room looks great! This is a solid gym. The equipment is all new and state of the art. They have plenty of free weights and an amazing astro turf area with TRX spot, boso and half boso balls, kegel balls and plenty of abdominal equipment in this designated area. Theres plenty of equipment to get in an excellent workout. The man that gave me the tour and signed me up is named Daniel. He is very knowledgeable and will walk you through the entire process. Plus he has been in the gym business for decades so he doesn't just talk the talk. He works out and dedicates his life to fitness. For the cost of membership, this gym cannot be beat! read more

I was planning on checking it out after work. You can sign up online for a free trial. However, they called me 4 times in less than 12 hours. The last time they called, I was hosting a work meeting. It was from a number I didn't recognize so I excused myself to answer (in case it was an emergency) and as soon as they said "Hi this is ___ from LA Fitness" I said "I can't talk I'm sorry" and hung up.
