I wasn't crazy about this place at all! Sure it's a cute little hole in the wall, but it wasn't the complete package. I ordered the chilaquiles with red sauce and a side of machaca. The machaca was dry. The sauce almost tasted flavorless. My son ordered a BLT, he seemed to be happy with it. My husband ordered a chile verde omelette. He like the chile verde, he said it was very tender and the sauce was flavorful but no spice at all. I also ordered a shake and my son did as well, and it was served at room temperature. I'm used to cold shakes. For what we ordered, I feel it was a bit over priced. The service was ok, nothing over the top great and it wasn't bad. This place wasn't terrible, but, not a place I would run back up. I don't even know how much I would recommend it. read more

I was completely ignored, when I asked a simple question. No problem all is forgiven, she must have been overwhelmed... I finally got on a waitlist... My first time here it was amazing and a wonderful experience. I love to see how they have grown and how much progress has been made here. The downside is the management and coordination. Very cute little place, and you can tell locals are eating here, since some even bring work and laptop to hang out here. We parked in the little lot on the other side of the hotel then walked back. We were greeted promptly and told the wait was 30min, but then found a bunch of open tables quickly. The menus came in English and Spanish, and our servers were helpful and friendly. However, no idea what happened, but our juices took more than 45min to arrive. Literally finished our food, ready for the check, asked if the juices were ready, because I wanted to cancel them and just leave, but we were promised they would be right up. Still took another 15min. And it was not worth the wait. The Reconstituyente was supposed to have tomato, cucumber, celery and some spices, but all I tasted was bland green juice. The mango lassi had large chunks of what I'm guessing is cardamom jam on the bottom, just not pleasant to clog the straw up with and to hit the palate with overpowering flavor. The food looked really good, but all were just a bit disappointing. Our friends' "special toast" with eggs on top were bland, and they had to ask for salt and chili. Hubby's huevos rancheros came in a bowl that looked like soup because the sauce covered the eggs completely. The tortilla got soggy fast. The sauce was tasty though. My chilaquiles gave a good first impression. The crispy tortilla was drenched in a delicious salsa verde and topped with a single poached egg. But as I dug into it, I felt like I was missing all the other toppings I was used to when I got the same dish in CDMX or Guanajuato, like the queso fresco, crema, or onions. Good crunch, taste and a shareable portion that includes egg of your choice (I got egg whites) and it's paired w/black beans. This little place is off the road between 2 large hotels. Not a very large place but a very good one. They serve breakfast Mon-Friday 8-12 and then change to their menu to lunchtime. They serve a daily dish after 1:30 pm (1330). The daily dish changes every day and is made fresh. They have a small vegetable store which you see them get the ingredients to make your order. We had the chilaquiles and a omelette. I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed the meal. The plates are not huge but big enough to be shared by children. We shared with each other and I was so full and I can eat! When you order your food the chef or waiter get the veggies and fruit from their assortment they have with in the store. The service was outstanding also. Give it a try you will not regret it. read more

If you are in Ensenada, you must eat breakfast here. We have been here a couple times now. Everything is so fresh and well made, you really can't go wrong. Highly recommend their fresh juices. Parking can be a little tricky, if you can't park in front, there is a gravel lot after the hotel that the restaurant recommended we park in. read more

I wish I've heard of them sooner, I'd become a regular for sure. But better late than never. Probably because you can't see from it's exterior what a gem it is. That's a small place 2-3 miles away from all tourists crowds of Ensenada downtown, on the main road though. Besides being a restaurant, they sell local groceries like cheeses, veggies and salsas, all seem to be high quality. I had Panini Sandwich with Salmon, and it was a truly 5* sandwich. They are famous for their breakfast, but be aware that breakfast is only served till 12 pm only. Also, fresh juice with local pastry was to the point. The interior is relaxed, it's simple but you feel comfortable there and it feels good. I'll be back for sure when I'm in Ensenada. When you are tired of all those tacos and other usual suspects - give them a try, you'll love it. read more

A great little market / cafe that is a little difficult to find. It is not the most well marked place but once you find it, you will not be disappointed. It is situated between a hotel and housing development. If you get to the hotel, you have gone too far. Once you find it, you will be pleased but the humble decor and friendly staff. Some staff speak English and some do not. I had no problems using my Spanglish. Sitting outside, you can bring your dog. The patio was shaded and there was a nice breeze. Started with the chai which was a bit on the spicy side. I found it a nice diversion from the usual chai. I went with the Los Californianos which was great mix of tortillas, tuna, avocado, and black beans. Man, those beans were great. The sauce on the tortillas had a little kick to it, but nothing a gringo can't handle. Excellent dish. Wifey was pleased with the Zanita which is vegan toast. This will be my second time here and so far this place does not disappoint, the wait was not long and the service was by far better then any five star restaurant I have been. The coffee is fresh made with love and at my table kept my cup full. The location I a bit of a confusion but nothing that a map can't fix, the inside is great displays of their products served to you are well kept and look fresh, the fruit looks amazing and it smells like good food and even better ingredients. I think it's a great place to have breakfast, and while our chilaquiles were good, I think the portion sizes could have been slightly more generous. Beans were healthy tasting, and my scrambled eggs were decent. Our total literally came out to less than $14 USD which is unheard of back home. Gotta love the current USD to Peso rate! Take advantage of this. They do accept major credit cards which is nice and convenient as well. Our server was nice and brought out our food & drinks very quickly which was a plus. I think this place is cool on the inside, but needs a little more coziness added to it. It is definitely hidden on the side of the road, so it's easy to miss. Keep it on the lookout. There is no official parking for this place other than the dirt road that is directly in front of it. Be careful of the mud if it's raining. We dealt with a lot of mud around that area! read more

Wow, I wish I could give La Flor de la Calabaza more than 5 stars!!! This place is amazing. Everything here is made fresh, and I cannot stop raving about this place. I ordered the Los Motulenos fried egg. When this dish came out, I gobbled the entire thing up. Fortunately, I snapped a picture beforehand so I could remember it always. I had to ask for a spoon so I can drink the soup the food was drenched it. The combination of the flavors were amazing. I wish my stomach was bigger so I could have ordered a second one. They have a variety of healthy drinks on their menu as well, but my favorite drink was the fresh squeezed orange juice. Hands down, this place has the best orange juice I've ever had. We loved this place so much that we ate here two days in a row. Amazingly delicious breakfast using organic and natural ingredients. We tried the oatmeal, fresh fruit with yogurt and granola, sandwiches, juices, coffee and bread with freshly made lemonade. We also took some granola and cookies home with us because everything was so fresh. The restaurant is super rustic which adds to its charm and the service is friendly.
