Mi Kaza's cooking class was hands down my favorite overseas cooking class yet - particularly because of the man himself. Les, the owner and head chef, was fantastic!! He's an Oklahoma native with a great sense of humor and lots of history embedded into all of the information taught about local ingredients and true authentic cuisine. My husband and I were not on a cruise, however, we were able to easily hop on one of the cruise tours that includes a stop at a restaurant with cooking classes. Classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 10:30 am. It was evident locals were also in love with the place, as the clientele had explicitly stated they were there for the milanesa. Thanks so much, Les!! Really great experience for me and Baz. As a young couple interested in opening a restaurant, it was great being able to pick your brain a bit! Priceless information and a great time! A must if you are going to Ensenada - whether it's for the food or cooking class!!!

This was a fun visit. I also attended a cooking class and it was a fun class. The lunch was following the class was delicious. I ordered 2 virgin melon margarita as one was not enough. It was that good...no doubt you' ll have fun. And the owner Les was from Fullerton, CA. Its a good experience.

We went on the search for dinner, with so many places available to eat, the choice was tough. We came here, oh my. I had Mexican combo and my hubby brought fish for them to cook. They went above and beyond, in fact were going to have breakfast there tomorrow. They made us sashimi with the yellow tail and cooked the rest, it was to dye for. Good job

    The presentation is awesome

My friend and I did a cooking class here this weekend and it was fabulous! Gustavo walked us thru making salsa w a molcajete, guacamole and pellizcases. We got to enjoy delicious sangria while we made our food. It was a lot of food we were able to share with our husbands after there bike race! Definitely want to come back with our friends and make another dish! If you are looking for something to do while in Ensenada- this should be on your list!

Everything in this restaurant is delicious! From the handmade tortillas and tostadas, to the refreshing drinks, and everything in between. Not to mention the super friendly service and beautiful decorations. I loved the atmosphere here. Highly recommend.

So good!! We went here for breakfast, recommended by Lonely Planet. The menu is in Spanish, but there was a translator on hand to help go through the whole menu. We shared the Machaca (shredded beef with tomato & onions, beans & fries) for breakfast with two eggs on the side. It was plenty for both of us & absolutely delicious. The place is filled with locals & the food speaks for itself. Also has free wi-fi, the code is under glass on each table.

The beef birria tacos come with so many accompaniments -- a full bowl of chopped onions, fresh cilantro, limes, and radishes. The amount of meat and tortillas was generous and we had trouble finishing it all. The consomme was SO delcious. Service was friendly and fast. Our server didn't speak much English so be ready to use google translate if you don't know much Spanish, but we had no issues communicating and ordering. There are restrooms available as well. Both of the meats were tender and delicious, though I slightly preferred the chivo (goat), which was meatier, leaner, and more flavorful. I also especially liked the mild salsa, which had a nice refreshing flavor, and the ability to customize the condiments on each taco. Everything was delicious and came at a good value, and the service was super friendly and attentive too!

It looked like there was some of a wait time, but it turned out they did have a table for 2 available. The wait time is mostly for large parties. If you do come with a large party they have seating in the back just note it will take awhile. By large I mean 11 people (2 parties of 11 people showed up when I was there). The food. So many yummy options I had a hard time picking. I ended up ordering the combination plate as it included a little bit of everything: your choice of either green or red chilaquiles, machaca (shredded beef not the dry one), egg, beans and some fries. I also ordered fresh orange juice as I can't say no to fresh juices. I ATE EVERYTHING! It was so good I couldn't stop eating even when I knew I was full LOL. Side note def get the coffee as it is really good. We actually ended up buying the coffee they bought with us called La Negrita and is a couple of minutes away from the restaurant. Plus a local coffee vendor. Staff is super friendly and service is fast (for smaller parties). Place is clean and does have parking in the back. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast. If I am ever back in the area I am definitely coming back!

It gets better, Chef Miguel is crushing it with his take on Baja Med - with handmade pastas and some of the freshest fish you'll find. We started with clean simple cocktails done perfectly and had the black scallop ceviche and the yellowtail sashimi - both super fresh and wonderful starters!! For entrees we had the fish of the day - done to perfection and the black ink seafood pasta - the hand rolled pasta and abundance of shrimp, clams and squid was appreciated...both dishes were amazing but the seafood pasta was a standout in my opinion. Plenty of options in the Ensenada area for seafood but what makes the dishes special to me is the light touch - the sauces let the seafood shine with just the right amount of sublime flavors added...really dig it. I would strongly recommend to anyone in Ensenada or even the Valle to visit Madre, you won't be disappointed. One final note, our server Priscilla was awesome as well, just the right blend of casual and upscale - with real, authentic guidance on questions about each dish, she's an absolute joya. It's a bit of a drive for us from La Mision but I see us making the trek many times to visit Madre in the future - it is that especial.

It's small, but clean.. you order at the counter.. my wife and I were the only gringos in there, and we don't speak Spanish. We were quickly presented with a sample plate of all the meats available for their tacos. The wife and I each got a Birria taco and I also got a chicken taco with some of the best Mole sauce I've ever had. They had a table set up in back with all the fixings and salsas you could ask for and the tacos came with beans and rice. We grabbed a bottle of water from the cooler, and the whole meal came to $13 with a tip!!! I mean, that's an unbelievable value for your money. The tacos were incredible. The beans and rice were delicious and the corn tortillas were homemade and some of the best we've ever had.
