Fine dining a its best. I remember when this federation house was a privately owned restaurant, these days its part of the Trippas White Group. However, the food has not gone downhill, it has actually risen to even greater heights. From the tasting plates, the absolutely delicious oyster (done in 8 different ways) to the French inspired main meals, it would be hard to pick a winner they are all so good. At lunchtime it has a real business feel about it, at night it has a cosy ambience. Unfortunately it's not cheap but I will say the food might be a little pricey but you do get good value. You won't be able to fault it and the service is impeccable.

My friends smile said it all, she loves this place. My experience of this cuisine is limited I admit though I have French work colleges who's friends own restaurant businesses . They know of this place by name. The service which my friend described as they will look after you more than other places was on the money. The snails were generous in portion. The house I wine I must say was the nicest house wine I have had all year ( Available is a posh device used to air the wine for the ultimate result). The main which myself and my oldest pal shared a plate between us was the chicken and mushroom and pork chop with apple (sorry my French is sub standard) the desert was so nice since do not usually have desert we found ourselves dinning fit well over an hour enjoy each other's company over a perfect evening. Keep up the great work La Grillade

I must say that the service here is superior. Plus the dishes are well done, the set menu has wide variety of choices; the atmosphere is cozy and accommodating. Will definitely come back again.

Amazing food, wonderful staff. Would definitely come back here again. We got a deal with Groupon for 50% off and it was totally worth it.

As a reward for being a fine, milky Mumma's Boy for most of the year, mater took me out for a birthday dinner where I was even allowed to choose m'own meals.

While we were there, a few more groups came in and it got a bit busy. The owner came over to our table to talk about the menu and greet us. He gave great advice into how big things were and what was the right size for kids (I had 4 with me) and for the youngest, he made homemade Calamari rings for a child's meal - and they were so delicious we were all circling the leftovers! The rib decision, half rack or whole, was quickly solved as I was instructed that a half would be more than enough. Indeed it was! It was the size of a full rack anywhere else! I took half home and enjoyed them for lunch the next day! One ordered the chicken burger and it was gorgeous, marinated and grilled, not breaded and fried, and it was also quite big, and half went home. Two of the girls split the big burger which had two patties and all sorts of lovely toppings. It was delicious and the owner split the burger at the table for the girls. We also had started with the loaded chips, which were loaded with cheese, bacon and whatnot, super yummy, but there was a lot there and it didn't get finished. I would definitely recommend to anyone, and we are looking forward to another visit soon.

Fire and Ice Manly is one of those restaurants where you could absolutely sit there all afternoon,…read moreand well into the evening for many reasons. 1) The food is amazing 2) The staff are delightful 3) The view is incredible We went on an early evening one Saturday night are were greeted with quite possibly the nicest staff you'll ever meet. Sharon and David, the owners have been in the restaurant industry since their teens and have owned and run a few steakhouses in their time. They previously owned Ribs and Burgers for 18 years. They have since opened Fire and Ice, an ocean front restaurant in Manly with a concept serving raw meats, smoked meats, grilled meats and plenty of seafood. David knows his stuff, and certainly knows his meats. We took his advice and went for a 400g dry aged steak, served with fries and salad. The steak was incredible and cooked to our request. Having just returned from Argentina, we feel that we do know our steaks. We would certainly recommend a visit here for their meat. Top this off with a glass of red and you're set. We couldn't go past seafood on this visit, given we were at a beachside location. We ordered tuna tataki, so fresh and accompanied by a wasabi aioli and soy. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and the kingfish was so fresh and beautifully presented on a salt slab, marinated with lemon and lime, olive oil, chilli, capsicum, coriander and chives. The seafood here is quality and certainly a must and there's even a seafood platter that would be a great option for sharing. The menu is one of the biggest you'll find, not only in size, but the amount of menu options. Oysters to small bites, both hot and cold including a few dishes reflective of the owners' South African heritage. There are plenty of pastas, burgers, ribs and side salads to select from. There's also vegetarian options for those that prefer this. Steak though, is their specialty, as you enter you can see their aged locker of the beef options, and you can have fillet or sirloin on the bone, rib eye or a T-bone. You can read about the suppliers of this quality steak in the back of their menu. Sharon is possibly one of the best front of house managers we've met. She is so kind and welcoming and we really appreciated her hospitality. You can tell her experienced with the first greeting. There are some large and private areas too, so you could certainly hire this out for a party.

Great food. Great service. Staff is very willing to alter dishes to your liking. Ten thumbs upread more

Dorothy we ain't in Kansas anymore. Heck, we so far north of Texas we is in Australia (da long way…read moreround). The problem with Ribs 'n' Rumps is that Texas exists. And Texas BBQ has infiltrated Australia, in many guises and forms in recent years. Sadly, whilst I would have visited RNR a decade ago and been delighted, these days it just doesn't cut the brisket. Whilst the ribs themselves were cooked well, and had plenty of meat, the flavour was boring, sugary BBQ. No smoke, no depth, nothing to make me eat past the first mouthful really. Plain flavours for unrefined palates. RNR is a little disjointed in this location also. The waitstaff are all trying to serve your table. So, even though you get an individual server who takes your order, every single server that passes your table from the kitchen will ask if the order they are holding is yours... Now, that's just sloppy. The meal is also off-the-charts expensive. When two peeps spend in excess of $150 to have dinner, you kinda don't expect the rookie service + bland flavour 1-2 punch combo. You expect something with some wow factor. An uppercut of intensity, or a surprising haymaker of smoke. No surprises here, just disappointment from a pretender unable to fight its way out of the wet paper bag. Whilst I enjoyed the company (5 stars!) the food and ambience left me wanting. Wanting texas. Wanting smoke. Dreaming of the Salt Lick, hand made lemonade, all you can eat platters of pork ribs, sausage and brisket for $20 and mouth-watering mesquite meat!

Ribs a are great, as are the steaks and burgers. Totally love their fries, and the kids meals are extremely plentiful. Definitely try the sizzling mushrooms, which continue to size on their iron player long after they've been served. Garlic prawns and calamari are also decent for a steak house, but you can never go wrong with a full rack of prom ribs. Oh,, and their desserts are awesome, best banana split and Espresso Brûlée!!

Salmon: Whisky cured Salmon with cauliflower custard cream and fresh roe... All three of these dishes were a light and refreshing start to a three course meal ahead. I would highly recommend the shaved octopus it's unlike anything I've ever tried, thinly sliced and seasoned well, light and airy. For entrée I had the Pork Belly, which was chilli lime basted pork belly with kimchi crumb, puffed crackling and served with greens, adzuki beans and ponzu dressing. Main I opted for the Rib Eye (pictured) is a beef steak from the rib section. The rib eye steak's internal fat melting into the meat creates one of the juiciest steak eating experiences imaginable. And dessert Apple Pie: fried apple pastry with apple toffee cream, sour apple gel, mascarpone icecream and smoked maple syrup... If you're an apple pie lover, (yes that includes Maccas apple pie) then you're going to love this. It may not be the most photogenic of the lot, but damn this apple pie is whack! Crisp on the outside, soft apple centre and drizzled with maple oooh it's a dream.
