The unsuspecting location: a supermarket strip mall in Costa Calma hides a local tapas bar. El Bar…read morede Marko is a diamond in the rough that produced my favorite meal in Fuerteventura. Find the restaurant tucked away on the ground floor on the corner all the way to the right. Choose in door or outside seating, the staff is eager to please and explain all of the menu items, helping to make sure you order the right amount of food. The atmosphere is relaxed. A few tables, a bar, and the place would begin to fill up over the course of the evening. Beer is served in a chilled glass. Splitting five tapas with a dessert was just the right amount of food for two hungry individuals. +Do not miss out on goat cheese while in Fuerteventura. The fried wheels topped with jam were exquisitely bold and creamy, flawlessly balanced with sweetness on top - molding me into a person who appreciates this variety for the first time. +A fun interactive dish the fish pies were a puzzle where each component was a fresh and essential piece. +Tasting the polla a la moni I was blown away with the most tender chicken, so simple and nostalgic, I was pawing at the bowl. +Mixing sweet and savory, the fried eggplant with palm honey was crisp and dreamy. +My husband raved about the apple meatballs stuffed with blue cheese and caramelized onions so much - though I don't eat red meat he had me taste the sauce, utterly impeccable. +Dessert came in a jar, a butterscotch flavor with a pudding consistency, topped with what tasted like freeze dried honeycombs. A perfect ending to a delicious meal. Do not judge a book by its cover or you will miss out on the best food the island has to offer. Good to know: +There is a pinball machine in the arcade next door +You will find free parking down on street

Friendly, english speaking servers, and great wine choices. Food was very delicious. Patas Bravas trio was great, 3 different style of potatoes. The goat cheese and fig plate was delicious, one of my favorites. Also had seabass croquettes, which were very good. The beef skewers was not what we expected, but still delicious; beef and toppings prepared inside a pita, there were 4-5 pitas in the basket, so it was more like mini-gyros in a pita, but still good. The prices were good for the size, all our plates were less than 10 EUR each, and the bottle of wine was 12 EUR. Delicious meal, huge menu, pretty restaurant, and very nice outside patio. I recommend!

We ordered 6 and the waiter was shocked saying we'd never manage it! As we waited, we thought maybe we'd ordered too much but we had 4 hours til the restaurant closed so we were in no rush! As it happens, we managed 6 tapas, basket of bread, pudding, a cheeseboard, bottle of wine and liqueur. Don't know what that says about us! We didn't find the portions huge but they were delicious: The fried Lanzarote goats cheese and black pudding with baked strawberry and pepper cream gets a special mention. Staff were really warm, welcoming and funny. We're really glad we chose the old harbour to stay in as it's a lot quieter and with lots of great eateries serving fresh and artistically presented food.
