When you came to the main entrance you saw some of the greatest cars and there were some of the best boats .

The car show that was at the the La Jolla Shores park the greatest overlook of the ocean with the cool breeze and the feel of the sun. The look of the coastline with the many classic cars that delighted the many smiles of the event goers which came by groups . When I had arrived travel by the city bus you could see the many people that were walking towards the cove past the many eateries which you could see going down to the event. The many tents that had seen it was like something that I had seen from the golf tournaments as I got closer there was large Yaht with three engines that welcomed the many to the show. I would like to thank the La Jolla concourse group that put on one of the greatest event with many of the greatest classic and collectors cars from the high performance to the classic cars of the 1930 to the 1970s. From the front area as you entered the welcome to the event helping the many check in at the front and the VIPs to check in. The seaside area made such a great area to see the many come and tell about their cars the artists that were at the event had some of the greatest work showing such creative paintings. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer the many people and the feel of the classic cars it was of the greatest shows that I would put my seal on . For the many that came there were looks and the comments of the many cars stared in many movies and the TV shows made San Diego great of the cars made here.

This review is specifically for the Secret Garden Tour 2022. Wow -- my new favorite San Diego event. What a great experience -- I wish they did it MORE than just once a year! I have always wanted to go, but this was my first time and it blew me out of the water. Each garden was spectacular. I asked a volunteer if the houses are this good every year and she said YES. I questioned her if that is even possible and how do they not run out of houses??? But she said yessssssssssssssss every year the gardens are just this amazing! I really like when they let you go inside the houses. I hope one day they start an event where you get to tour the insides of La Jolla homes! I would dock a star because they hosted an Instagram challenge for free tickets but I don't think they ever posted the winner...nor did they respond when I asked about it...poor social media management.

Everyone was so helpful and their love for La Jolla was infectious. Made me think we all need a historical society everywhere we live. They totally made our trip experience richer with depth. I called them first before I left to see if there is any map of interests, the gentleman who answered was very knowledgeable, and when I went there with my mother, he was there and introduced me to the lady who knew coming events and such. Thank you everyone. I recommend all tourists and local residents to drop by time to time to guide you to love La Jolla even more!

Do you know who Eads Ave. in LaJolla is named after? Was it James Buchanan Eads?

Eads Avenue, formerly Washington, was named for James Buchanan Eads (1820-1887), an American engineer who held more than 50 patents. He designed and built the first road-rail bridge to cross the Mississippi River, at St. Louis.

They are also closed on many holidays, check the hours of operation before visiting. -They participate in Bank of America Museums on Us. Thanks to the friendly person at the front desk who mentioned this. -This museum is near La Jolla Cove which if you like birds, is not to be missed! The museum has three floors and nice outdoor areas including a restaurant. The museum overlooks an absolutely stunning coastline. They go a little overboard with recordings and staff asking patrons to stay away from the art (I get it, but geez!). Be ready for that, especially if you have kids. The Nick Cave fringy art is just too tempting for kids. I went to look out a window and was told to stay back, I mean really. They have a "calm room", and you might need to use that to calm down from being told to stay away from the art so much! Haha. I saw the Giants Alicia Keys exhibit which was great. The movie I could barely hear. They have tons of merch in the store for the exhibit, however I really wanted a t-shirt that was for the museum and not the specific exhibit, but they didn't have any.

Ok so I will split this into two reviews:…read more 1: the ships and actual adventure 2: the reservation process and customer service 1: booked a trip for the Spanish replica ship adventure the San Salvador and really loved it. The ticket also got you access to the other ships to walk around which was cool. But the coolest part was that San Salvador was sailed like they would have sailed it waaay back when. We got to see real rigging masts sails steering all being done by a crew and it was a totally amazing experience and such a perfect day. Bonus: we saw dolphins and it was a perfect day. Drawback: the gentlemen speaking throughout didn't talk into his mic often so missed a lot but oh well - who's really going for history?! such a good time!!. 2. I had a good with my tickets and called and tried to talk to folks in person and could never get someone. The tickets were cancelled but not refunded which was a bummer and staff in the kiosk even said they phone lines were messed up. A bummer. :(

The Maritime Museum of San Diego is honestly one of the most impressive history museums I've…read morevisited because the artifacts are the museum. You aren't just looking at history -- you're surrounded by ships that actually survived it. The Star of India, launched in 1863, survived mutiny, violent storms, collisions at sea, and decades carrying immigrants across dangerous oceans. Some sailors believed the ship was cursed after captains died during early voyages, yet somehow she survived long enough to become the oldest active sailing ship in the world. HMS Surprise shows the brutal reality of naval warfare during the Age of Sail. Ships like this once carried enough cannon firepower to destroy enemy vessels while sailors lived packed below deck surrounded by gunpowder, disease, and fear of battle. The Berkeley steam ferry even helped evacuate survivors during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake while much of the city burned. One of the most fascinating exhibits is the Soviet B-39 submarine from the Cold War. The inside is unbelievably cramped and gives you a real sense of what life was like beneath the ocean during one of the most dangerous periods in modern history. The USS Dolphin may have been my favorite. This experimental deep-diving U.S. Navy submarine helped test advanced underwater technology and launched the deepest-fired torpedo in naval history. The museum also includes the San Salvador, recreating the ship that explored California's coastline in 1542 -- long before America existed as a country. What makes this place incredible is the timeline it creates: 1500s exploration... 1800s global sailing... steam-powered industry... world wars... Cold War submarines... All sitting together in one harbor. This place doesn't just teach maritime history -- it shows how ships shaped exploration, immigration, trade, warfare, and entire empires.

Yes Johnny is an AMAZING DJ... I get that one hundred fold since his spins used to get my "mojo…read moreshakin'" at Mosaic Wine Bar on Friday nights. :) I would hire him for that in a minute for any gig I host but that is a different review. So now, come over here, un-crimp your little sister's jeans consider popping a squat, while stroking your "Moses" like beard, do please hear me out before you jump on your Fixie and ride off. Johnny KNOWS art and while I love poking fun at the hipstar culture that has overtaken my neighborhood, all I have to say is: wow, the young artists who display their work here are honestly VERY, VERY talented. If I had unlimited disposable income and a huge house with empty walls, I would just buy my art from the artists I see displayed here at this gallery. I don't want to meddle but this artwork is so good that it is worthy of a nod from those who are "long in the tooth" and "well endowed" in the wallet from La Jolla, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe. I really think that there needs to be a fusion if you will of the art crowd in San Diego, oil based overly dramatic landscapes are cool when you are 70 but this art at this gallery bends your mind in a different way. Anyhow, wonderful gallery with a talented owner. Step in for a spell and go have lunch in the neighborhood.

Small little gallery with a huge punch!…read more Paul and Johnny are amazing for holding down the San Diego art scene by running this venue. They feature local and region artists, producing a full calendar of events, both on site and in other venues. Each art show is a party but the main focus is the art. They take very good care of the work and their main goal is to showcase the art in the best possible light (figuratively and literally.) They make sure they study each piece so that they can approach each potential buyer with the knowledge needed to present the piece. I can speak from personal experience as I arrived at the gallery early to drop off my artwork, Johnny was training an intern. She had flash cards and she was quized on each piece. That is care and dedication that I appreciate as both a patron and an artist! A few weeks later, I was presented a check of my pieces that they were able to sell. Both owners and curators are WONDERFUL people- amicable, down-to-earth, friendly. I'm definitely a fan of Thumbprint Gallery!
