They rob you by unethical practices. They act all concerned about your special needs Child but really don't give a damn they just want your money thank you. Not knowledgeable and rob you from their process money. It's sad if you think people care and they don't. People like me they weren't knowledgeable, which I am now are dollar signs to them. My praise cannot be great enough for La Jolla Learning works! My son has a rare type of dyslexia, not the "seeing letters backwards" kind, so he was older by the time we realized just what type of therapy he needed to get his reading comprehension up there. WOW! The results have been amazing! Vita has been a wonderful tutor, as was the prior tutor he had who left due to getting married & moving....both women have been awesome & truly professional. My son has been working with his educational therapist at La Jolla Learning Works for about three months. In that time I have seen his confidence in his academic abilities grow. His reading has improved by one grade level. I'm also seeing signs of improvement with his growth mindset. His ed therapist is patient, encouraging, and helps him to see the positive side of things. As a parent I appreciate the report that is emailed to me after each session (it helps me to start a conversation with my son about what he learned that day - no more "I don't know. I don't remember."). I also feel that I have a team to turn to when I am lost for how to support my son academically. La Jolla Learning Works is an expensive investment and you will not see overnight results. But if you have room in your budget and can be patient, it is worth it! I cannot begin to describe the gratitude I have for this place! My daughter and I had no idea what to expect on the ISEE exam and if it weren't for La Jolla LearningWorks, she wouldn't have done well at all. Majority of the things she needed to know she had no knowledge of, thanks to her current school district. Lori was amazing with my daughter and taught her so much in such a short time. Lori helped her to understand certain math issues, even after failed attempts by her own teachers! They had great rapport and Lori identified her trouble areas and focused on those, which helped in her overall success. Megan was very professional and realistic/honest about our timeline. We literally had a few weeks to prepare her, and while my daughter's situation was unique, Megan explained that the best case scenario is being able to learn these things and not necessarily score high on the test (although that was a major plus!) My daughter scored very well, and even got accepted!! Most importantly, she now has straight A's again at her current school which would not have been possible without La Jolla LearningWorks. Megan was wonderful to work with and provided me with tons of insight about the test and the school we were applying for as well as excellent online learning tools and resources. Bri was so friendly and was always there for me when I had questions or concerns. She provided me with an abundance of information, and made my daughter feel so comfortable and important. She was a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely be back whether it's for my daughter as a refresher, or for one of my sons as they get older. I spoke with many different tutors and tutoring centers, and finding Megan and her staff was the best thing that could've happened to us. They are very personable and tailor everything to your child's needs. The prices are very reasonable and the experience is priceless. La Jolla Learning Works has been a tremendous help to my 11 year old son. Jacob, his tutor, is a perfect match for my son's personality and we don't hear complaints about attending the sessions because Jacob is "cool". My grandson has dyslexia. He has had a full year of help with the special education tutor. I have not only not noticed a difference in his struggles with reading and spelling and other issues, he has regressed while getting help from his school. He began tutoring in July with Allison. I started noticing a difference after only a couple months of two hours a week with her. I have been so happy to see the progress he has made. The report she emails after every session is so helpful to me in know how to help him and how he is improving. I also give the reports to his teacher and his special education teacher. It has been helpful to them and his teacher can adjust his assignments at school partly based on his tutor. I can not thank them enough for finally getting the help he so desperately needed. His confidence has improved, also which is huge. I would highly recommend La Jolla Learning Works to any one struggling. read more

LearningWorks is not recommended unless you want to spend money and time for nothing. I was initially attracted by the appearance: the office looks warm and welcome; the information I received on my first consultation looked professional; and I was told that they would plan for my son striving the goal with well trained teachers and recording requirements. Though they charged a high fee for diagnosis evaluation, study plan, mock tests, and materials, I decided to give it try and bought a course for my son! However, I was totally disappointed. The high fee does not ensure quality services. The so-called study plan and materials were not prepared to suit my son's special needs; most teacher are part-time, and don't have time to understand the individual capabilities and requirements of each student. We would have relied on the teachers for suggestions but they are not helpful at all. We worked very hard and took ISEE middle test on Jan 26. I would not recommend LearningWorks for IESS test preparation. read more

As a provider in the community, I can not say enough great things about La Jolla LearningWorks! I have referred so many of my clients over the years and the universal feedback I have recevied has been fantastic. They have such a unique and successful business model for helping students with their educational needs. They only hire top Teachers/Educators with many years of expereince to work with students. In addition, they are able to pinpoint where your child/teen is specifically struggling and then create an individualized educational program around that. This is not an "after school homework" tutoring service. Their goal is to bridge the gap, both short and long term, between any discrepancy in a child's aptitude and their academic performance. Anthony has been attending for about 6 months and he has improved so much. He has more confidence in his reading and enjoys reading too. The intake process was very supportive. Finding a tutor that could work with my son who has a lot of performance anxiety and inattention issues is not easy. We are only 2 sessions into it and only requiring that he show up and develop a rapport with the tutor. The fact that staff was willing to collaborate with one of my son's outside therapists to come up with the right learning plan and approach to settling him into a routine was excellent. read more

All 3 of our kids have attended LJLW and have positive learning experiences. Two had targeted ACT/SAT prep and were able to meet their goals of what they were trying to score on these tests. Our youngest has been at LJLW for more than 4 years for personalized dyslexia support and math tutoring. Megan truly cares about her students and their families and runs a very professional, highly personalized tutoring operation. Our kids have all had wonderful experiences with their tutors and the support has been worth every penny. It's not just about grades, it's about recognizing and maximizing individual learning styles and instilling confidence and enjoyment of learning. As a homeschooling parent I am always looking for ways to enhance my daughters learning. She is in first grade and was having a hard time with reading and writing. It was her least favorite subject and we had come to a bit of a standstill. I had looked into a variety of different programs, Kumon etc. but I didn't like how they just had the kids fill out worksheets. I found La Jolla Learning Works here on Yelp and was intrigued by their individualized learning plans and one on one teaching. They had never worked with a homeschooling family before but they were more than willing to become a vendor for our school (Sage Oak) so that the school funds would pay for her sessions. Carolynn has been an incredible instructor for my daughter. She has made the learning fun and encouraged her all along the way. My daughter always looked forward to going and was so sad when our sessions were over. As a parent I couldn't be more pleased at her progress. She was reading beginner BOB books when she went in, we had 12 sessions and she finished reading her first "Magic Treehouse" book last night. Reading and Writing are no longer a chore for her and she looks forward to her work again. Our teacher facilitator with our charter school has been blown away at her progress. The sessions are pricey but have been more than worth it. Having a solid foundation in reading is essential to moving forward in education. I highly recommend La Jolla Learning works for any educational assistance you might need. They are so friendly and are very easy to work with. Give them a call, you won't regret it! read more

High praise for La Jolla Learning Works! My son was diagnosed with a visual processing disorder by his school in Feb of 5th grade. I then asked for a more specific diagnosis and was given a bit of money from the district to see a neuropsychologist in the private sector. I immediately set up a meeting with Megan. She spent time looking over the test results and answer booklets that she had me retrieve from the school psychologist and was able to narrow down a diagnosis and recommended a neuropsychologist who then thoroughly tested my son and diagnosed him with dyslexia-the kind that affects memory, executive functioning, reading, writing...poor kid! Megan was right on with her assessment and we began tutoring with Vita in June. She has been tutoring him and guiding him through the Wilson program (an OG program for dyslexia). The results are staggering! In less than a year, he has jumped from a mid 4th grade reading level to a mid 6th grade level! But what is more important to me is his overall attitude! He never really liked school, but grew to hate it in 5th grade (no wonder!). Not only did he hate school but like many undiagnosed dyslexics, his self esteem was plummeting fast! He was depressed, thought he was stupid and was having trouble finding the joy in life outside of sports and video games. His first year of middle school is almost over now and I can't say he likes school but he tolerates it, works extremely hard, advocates for himself, is actually kind of proud of his dyslexia and has even made the honor roll! He has found the joy in life again and is blossoming! He might come in to Vita's office after school in a foul mood, but he walks out of LJLW with a smile on his face every time.
