Second root canal in so many months. I always found the staff very attentive to my needs. As well all the technicians and assistants are professionally extremely proficient. What I found so impressively obvious the dental clinic is well kept in cleanliness. Like my first visit with them last year, second time around I could not find a speck of dust from vents, ceiling down to the beautiful comfortable furniture - kudos to the clinic staff in ensuring our clinic experience is of the utmost high quality of comfort and cleanliness. I was very disappointed in the endodontist (Dr. Jeffrey M Javelet) for the following reasons: 1) The inside of my cheek got a deep cut while Dr. Javelet did root canal/dental treatment. 2) Usually temporary filling is able to last 6-8 weeks. But part of the temporary filling that Dr. Javelet put in my tooth chipped off within 2 weeks, and as a result, I have been avoiding chew on that side. 3) Neither did Dr. Javelet nor his staff discuss the treatment plan/options/cost before the root canal. I was not told that it would cost more than $2500 to do the root canal and related treatment/temporary dental filling for one tooth. 4) After I was given the big dose of anesthesia, and my stomach felt crunching pain while almost my half face got numbed. Yet I still felt pain while the dental tool cut into the inside of my cheek. 5) One of Dr. Javelet assistant was not well prepared ( she did not have the right tools prepared while Dr. Javelet asked for them). Also, she even did not change the glove after she picked up the dental tool from the floor. 6) When I returned to the office to ask Dr. Javelet to fix the issue, he said the chipped temporary filling was OK and was not willing to add any more temporary fillings. However, my tongue could feel the big dent in the area and I would rather it was filled with permanent filling so that I could eat normally without having to worry before any further decisions for treatment in next step. Dr. Javelet agreed to change the temporary fillings with permanent filling at additional cost of $260. 6) Dr. Javelet put in the permanent filling, but may have overdone smoothing out the bone/gum area surrounding my tooth with powered drill ball bit, which was also indicated by images before and after treatment. And my gum got quite some inflammation and is still swollen and bleeding taste in my mouth after two day's rest. read more

10 STARS !! if I could! I had a double apicoectomy surgical procedure performed by Dr. Kevin Stewart DMD about 2 weeks ago. Let me tell you that, it's a tedious procedure to remove an infection inside the tooth/teeth and repair the roots. Needles to say I was very anxious about the whole thing. I'm glad to share that Dr. Stewart is smart, kind, compassionate and super excellent at what he does! He removed my sutures five days post-op and I felt nothing! Just so very gentle! Minimal post op discomfort and that's, because he was obviously very gentle during the surgery. He also has an amazing staff team! They are very warm, cordial, professional, caring, friendly and efficient! Nobody wants to go to the endodontist, but if you need to go, I hands down 100% recommend Dr. Kevin Stewart DMD. Dr. Javelet is a kind human being. He is patient and understanding. I have never experienced a numbing injection so soft and didn't even notice it was happening. Thus far, Dr. Javelet has done a root canal in my far back tooth (very difficult to work on) and it was so smooth and gentle I feel asleep through the procedure. I had a dental nightmare I was in SO much pain, and I had went to see a different office that ended up costing me time and money and MORE PAIN. I have to start off by saying that I've had a little bit of a rough patch with dentistry in the past couple years. I feel as though I have been put through the ringer and one after another tooth has suffered. It's gotten to the point we're I now fear the dentist which was never an issue for me. I was referred to Dr. Stewart by my dentist in the area because of the pain and swelling that I had on tooth no. 3. Poor Dr. Stewart had my emotional not wanting to be there butt in his chair. After an exam he pointed and touched the exact spot I had an abscess on and just so happened to have time take care of me if I wanted. I do not have insurance so i had to pay full price for my retreat. Dr Stewart is an endodontist so his specialty comes with the price. Being in the position that I was I took it so that I can have some relief. I had to retreat my root canal on 3 which had to be done in 2 visits. I went home with relief and eyes full of tears, because I had just paid to get a crown on that same tooth a little time before. The whole reason why I am explaining this story in so much depth is not to make this review long, but to tell you that my bank account had felt abused and it was making me hate the dentist that sent me there. Not only was I feeling hate towards the dentist. I was starting to not trust Dr. Stewart because of it as well. I felt that he was connected to the dentist who sent me there. In the end he was the most compassionate, caring, and wanted to make sure that I was taken care of doctor that I have ever been to. I left, feeling confident with myself, and with his work, and the staff was so sweet and great, and he spent so much time on me, and I felt like he didn't leave his work for his assistance to do, and all of those things changed the way I felt about all that I had been going through. I also found out that he has been in dentistry for so long and that he used to work with military vets. He was even training one of his front desk people to assist and I kind of got the idea that that's what was happening, but he was doing it in such a way That I even wanted to learn from him. This guy is truly one of those you get what you pay for things and I'm thankful and I appreciate him very much. So I'm sorry for the lengthy review but all of the emotion needed to be said if you need any Endo work, come see him he's the best. read more

I have been to La Jolla Village Endodontics for two root canals and several consultations. The first root canal was an emergency due to severe pulpitis. Dr. Stewart was kind enough to see me fast and the procedure was quick and easy. Dr. Stewart is patient and gentle, and I had no pain at all during the root canal. I consulted Dr. Stewart several time about another tooth that had a root canal done by a different endodontist. I had continuing pain due to an incomplete root canal. Dr. Stewart recommended a conservative watch and wait approach, but the tooth persisted to cause intermittent pain. He agreed to try to complete the root canal and patiently and persistently worked on the tooth to get the job done. Everyone at this office is pleasant and helpful. As an added bonus, they run on time...every time. I hope you don't need a root canal, but if you do, you can trust Dr. Stewart and his staff to take good care of you. read more

I hate going to the dentist but you know we all have to one day or another. Anyway, I had a cavity and it was hurting me so much I went the VA Emergency Room on a Saturday. They could only give the me pain pills because to easy the pain until I get my appointment. Long story short. I received my appointment for Friday one week later from the VA but they could not preform the treatment that was need, so they out patient me to private sector that same day. With in couple of hours the VA was able to find me a place in La Jolla that day (Friday). The VA staff was helpful as well during this event with my pain that I created. I received a phone from the Dentist Office with a time to show up but wait there is more. The office called me back and asked me if I could come in earlier because there was a cancellation and you know I said YES. Within two hours I was done. The whole staff was great and friendly. An absolutely superb experience with the Doctors and Staff at La Jolla Village Endodontics! Their office was via referral from my prosthodontics through the VA community care system. I'm so glad they accept VA patients and highly recommended this office to any veteran covered by VA or any network/plan. I had 5 root canals performed in 2 visits and the staff went out of their way in accommodating my schedule and timeline, even down to calling to ask other patients if they could shift their appointment. Previous fears from horrid dental experiences at other offices have been dissolved by this experience! I had 2 root canals completed on the 1st visit. Anxieties quickly calmed as was the procedure. So calmed that I napped thu most of it! I was referred to get a root canal by my dentist on Friday and by Monday Dr Stewart and his team got me in at 12noon and out by 1:45 pm for a root canal. Dr. Stewart was very gentle and I did not feel anything. It didn't even hurt when he gave me the shot for the numbing medication. Cathy was his dental assistant and she was just as gentle and calm as Dr. Stewart. Yvonne at the front desk was also very helpful getting me the appointment and making sure the Dr. Stewart knew I wanted nitrous in addition to the numbing medication. This was my first and hopefully only root canal and it was not what I expected. I expected a longer procedure, more pain and restrictions. I came out of the office only feeling numb on the side where the numbing medication was injected and was able to drive home. If you need a root canal, I highly recommend Dr. Stewart!! read more

I hope no one ever needs this recommendation, but if you do, go to Dr. Stewart! I ended up needing a root canal after some bad dental work. I just moved to the area so didn't have any referrals, but Dr. Stewart got me in immediately, assessed the issue, and did the root canal in 1.5 hours. It was so easy, it felt like it was no more than having a filling done, and I felt great as soon as I got up. No more pain! He even called personally to check in on me the next day. Seriously, it was probably the best dental experience I've ever had, and that's saying a lot considering it was a root canal!
