We were so lucky to have found this place. Everything was super tasty. My favorite dish was the chilaquiles and the second fav was the bean sauce covered tacos The waffle was delicious too. We will be back. We went back after almost a year. Service was noticeably slower this time since there was only one waiter, and it took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered the chilaquiles con carne en su jugo (absolutely delicious) and the quesabirrias (great flavor, but unfortunately very soggy--not crispy at all. Wow!!! What an unexpected and pleasant surprise to find this gem of a restaurant. To date, this hidden is probably one of the best in all of Nogales! Everything is made from scratch, so if you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. But any wait is worth the quality food that is so flavorful. The menu shows an eclectic list of dishes that runs on examples of the highlands of Mexico, the Yucatan peninsula, the Oaxacan central lands and even vegetarian staples. Service is attentive. I've tried flautas ahogadas, chilaquiles de birria, carne en su jugo, empanadas de camarón, cafiaspirinas, and many more!!! All of their dishes are great!!! This time I tried for the first time their chilaquiles with carne en su jugo, and chilaquiles rellenos de chicharrón. All I can say is that they are BOMB!!! The place is not that big but it's very cute and comfortable! The people that work there are always with the best mood and customer service possible. It puts you in a good mood! I drove across the border just to try this place out while on a road trip with my dog. I would have to say that it was the best breakfast I've ever eaten from any country I have ever visited. It truly stands alone. The dish I had was called "Enfrijoladas de Arrachera." Three fresh tortillas made on-site, filled with a generous helping of the juiciest and tender beef I have ever eaten, sweet onion, pieces of jalapeno, and plantains. The entree was presented in a triangular, taco formation and topped with a frijole sauce and Mexican cheese. Washed down with a cup of fresh coffee. Unlike so many of the restaurants across the border that serve instant coffee as coffee, the coffee at La Llorona is brewed in a pot. The wait staff was good. My personal server was great. Pleasant and attentive without being a kiss ass. Explained the dishes in both languages, which I liked and appricated. Even though I had to wait almost 40 minutes to cross back to the U.S., I would do it all over again in a second just to have the opportunity to have that taste in my mouth and feeling in my stomach again. read more

I had been wanting to check out La Llorona after hearing people rave about it more than once. I have to admit, it fits in perfectly to the Calle Hermosillo food-scene and is most definitely unique. They have a great menu and although a small restaurant and a good 10 min. drive from the border, it fits quite a bit of people, has a full bar and is decorated beautifully. I had the agua de mazapan to drink (a Mexican peanut butter candy made as a drink, similar to horchata), the shrimp empanadas as an appetizer, the cochinita pibil torta ahogada and a taste of my BF's chicken mole. All I can say is...amazing. This isn't your traditional Mexican food restaurant. They really take a unique spin on all their meals and make everything in house including their fresh, homemade corn tortillas. Even the chips they bring out before your order with two types of salsa and bean dip are fantastic. I am really excited about this restaurant and they've definitely gained a new customer. $26 for 3 beers, a drink, an appetizer & two entrees for amazing, homemade food? Sold! read more

This place was recommended by my sister, had to come in and try it out! On the outside it looks nothing like the inside. It is definitely not something you would expect, in the inside it is small about 8 or so tables, and a bar top with a full bar. You come in and take a seat where ever you would like. No host to greet you, (in that part we where a little lost, wasn't sure). There where about 4 other tables taken we sat closest to the door and the AC. It was just me and my BF. We sat for about 2 minutes and a waiter brought us menus, in 5 mins we received chips in a basket with 3 salsa choices and some beans. (Which where all really good and tasty). Especially the cucumber spicy salsa. We ordered drinks he had a soda, and I had a cucumber lime water. The cucumber lime was amazing!! It was made fresh, I recommend. I got a large, big cup to hold. Then we ordered our food, the bf had the chicken mole, and I had the bean arrachera burro. Big portions, they make it their own. Very delish! Everything was good and tasty in the food department. As far as service ? It was good until we where done with our food and our drinks needed refills and we needed boxes. Our waiter was very distracted with a woman in the bar top (she was the only one there). I'm guessing he is the bartender also ?, but the lady wasn't eating anything just having a cocktail, and chatting with our waiter. It took him 20 minutes to get us a refill, we just asked to get it to go, we asked for boxes, and our check and he disappeared again to the bar to chat it up. At this time I was annoyed, but kept calm. He returned 15 mins later with the check, I used the restroom and I told the bf to handle the boxes to take home leftovers from my meal as it was super large and tasty that I didn't want to throw away. When I got out of the restroom, (Which is a single restroom, small and looks nothing like the restaurant, no decor, just plain different.) the waiter was boxing up the meal. I sat down and he said he would bring a bag, we had the check ready on the table and we sat there for another 15-20 mins before he arrived to check us out, and bring a bag. I just wished we got the waitress instead of the waiter, we saw her very attentive with her tables, but oh well it's ok the food made up for everything! Oh yeah one more thing! This is one of my fav places in Nogales. All the food had great flavor. I especially like the cucumber drink w lemon. I have had their tacos and their pescado. For fried fish I couldn't believe the flavor. They bring out chips, salsa and chip and beans. My fav is their beans and the green salsa. read more

Wow their mole is just amazing. So full of warm spicy flavor. They give a lot of food but I kind of expected that. I walked from the border to La Llorona so I could build the appetite. Their shrimp tacos are also really good. I had been to Seis kitchen in downtown Tucson earlier for brunch and didn't think anything could top that experience in Nogales this evening. Boy was I wrong.
