Rue Legendre, in La Pigalle, is rapidly becoming a street worth visiting. Small bars and restaurants are springing up, all part of the growing scene around La Pigalle. La Legende bar has all the ingredients of a great spot for a cocktail, some wine, or an excellent glass of beer. The decor is retro, but not pretentiously so. The music (live or jukebox) is excellent, the service is friendly (well, it's not hostile, which is the best one can hope for as an Anglais in Paris), and the drinks are both high quality and reasonably priced. Some of the other spots evince a rather snobby attitude, especially if your Francais is tres mal (like my own). But this place took it all in stride. Don't bother bringing your hens or stags, as they will show you the door. It's a place for a nice drink with a couple of friends, a good conversation, or to enjoy a glass of wine far from the madding crowds. Just don't ask for the Bailey's--Countreau--Coffee shot. It's a pain to make and the bartender will lose what little respect he had for you. read more
