Well, after a couple of years of dining here a couple of times a month I have to say that the big problem is the inconsistency. We will dine there one day and have an outstanding meal with everything hot and fresh. We will then go back a few days later and find the breakfast inedible because everything is cold and has obviously been cooked long before we ordered. The telling tale is the croissant that is included with most breakfasts; out of at least 30 times that I have had breakfast there I have been able to eat and enjoy the croissant exactly 3 times....the other times is was so cold and chewy that I just threw it away. What part of fresh bakery do they not understand and how hard is is to keep a half dozen croissants in a warmer at all times? The potato gallete and the quiches are another example since they are pre cooked and will sit on the griddle for a few hours if no one buys them and they you have the opportunity to try to choke down a piece of jerky disguised as breakfast. Looked forward to having a good chicken Caesar salad I know LaMadeleine can produce, on this cold winter day in front of their fireplace. It was around 3 pm. I ordered chicken Caesar salad. There was not enough romaine lettuce at the serving line so they checked in cooler. Said they had run out, that 'somebody must've forgot to order'. Then complimentary bread was low and the few slices that were there had dried out. Fireplace was not burning. I asked about it. They said with a shrug 'I don't know, it's broke' with no apologies nor reassurance it was being addressed which you could then accept since things like that happen. 2nd time I've had the same bad experience at this location (including no fireplace. Last time staff didn't know how to light it!). LaMadeleine is a great restaurant but I'd suggest waiting to eat at LaMadeleine when in another town! Too mad right now to even describe the whole 45 minute pick up disaster that followed me home. They didn't get my order through the online system. Charged me some weird amount through my bank. When we are driving to our destination in Texas, we sideline through Tyler. We do that so we can eat at La Madelines. We stop going to and going back home. The stop going home was terribly disappointing. This is the first restaurant we ate in since Covid started. It wasn't busy. The ladies doing the orders had an attitude. Snippy. Sort of like, we are bored, would you hurry up. We started to leave, but didn't. Our order was totally incorrect. They ended up re ringing up our order to get it correct and owed us money. The French onion soup was cold. One of the sandwiches didn't come. After about 15 minutes, i took the receipt to prove we had paid for it. Another sandwich had requested no lettuce or tomatoes. Came with lettuce and tomatoes. There is an allergy to tomatoes. They said they would make us another (snippy). Started to take the sandwich. We said we would keep it so they wouldn't just take the lettuce and tomato off. Then 2 of us on both sides of thee counter watched them make a fresh sandwich. The quiche was cold. One of us ordered a salad. It make them sick. Don't know if we will go out of our way again to stop at la madelines. read more

Firstly, the service was great. There were plenty of customers on a Sunday afternoon but the turnover was quick. My friend ordered chicken friand and tomato basil soup which were both yummy. Just had lunch during their soft opening on Sunday. This was a training day for staff. The food was wonderful and the staff friendly. I know the next few weeks will be crazy busy for them. The French onion and mushroom soups were as good as homemade and my favorites. We also tried the Quiche Lorraine and Cordon Bleu pasta and Caesar salad. Delicious. Why do we all go to our favorite chains? Because we know what we're going to get. Well, we do unless we go to La Madeleine in Tyler, TX! I travel here for work, and this is my second disappointing visit to this restaurant, so I will not be back. I ordered a sandwich and salad for dinner tonight, and a half sandwich to throw in the mini fridge for my lunch tomorrow. I got the French Dip...which came without the au jus. So...it's a mediocre-at-best, puny-looking roast beef sandwich. I tried the chicken Parisienne sandwich that I also purchased, which is normally my trusty favorite, and it was mostly bread with a little chicken and some cheese. I don't know why it's different at this location, but every other time I've ever ordered that sandwich at other locations, it came with tomato and some kind of lettuce. It NEEDS it, especially when they skimp on the chicken. The lettuce in the side Caesar salad was gross. Maybe it's the recent romaine outbreak worrying me, but I didn't eat it. Lol. Also, my order was ready way after the time it was supposed to be ready, and the restaurant was dead. How does all of this happen when you have no customers?! Tyler is growing and has so many awesome restaurants now. Next time, I'll just go somewhere else and get a real meal. read more

Went here for an early dinner one day. We normally go to the one in Shreveport, which is fabulous, so we thought we should try the one in Tyler. We were not impressed with the service at all. A man behind the buffet took our order, handed us the soups we ordered, and then left without even handing us the receipt! We had to take it from the register ourselves! Then we FINALLY receive our order after about 20 minutes, and it's two half sandwiches on plates with absolutely no garnishes or anything. Then we have some man sweeping the floor right next to our table which is totally offsetting when you're trying to eat. We thought that there would be no way they could redeem our experience, until we decided to just order some desserts and go home, and Josh (one of the employees) was so nice and friendly and held a conversation with us, and also served us the best lattes we have ever had! Tried the Quiche florentine which came out very cold, sent it back to receive a "fresh" one that seemed undercooked. Also ordered the potato soup, which was cold. The person I was with ordered the turkey cranberry puff pastry, which they never brought out/forgot about until we had to ask for it. This is my first experience at the one in Tyler. I thought the food was good but I do not like having to stand in line to order. I prefer ordering at the table. The prices were reasonable the staff were all preoccupied and not very friendly with the exception of the sweet man who was busing tables. He was so very nice. We decided to do a 'ladies lunch' at La Madeleine, and were exited to try the food and enjoy the atmosphere of a 'French Cafe'. Walking up to the door, our expectations were seeming to be on point. It was a beautiful appearance. As soon as we opened the door, however, it was our gateway to chaos cafeteria style. The "cafe'" is decorated very nicely. It really could have been something spectacular, if if weren't for the complete and utter confusion on the ordering process. I don't like going somewhere to eat where I feel disoriented and stupid and am then told to get a tray. A tray is an immediate signal, to me, that you are not at a Cafe', you are at a cafeteria. When we arrived, the place was empty, but there were so many people behind the food line, it was overwhelming. Everyone back there was very helpful and friendly, trying to explain the ordering process. Unfortunately, the food we received was cold. We ordered the french onion soup (disappointing), the potato soup (average), the Brie sandwich (wouldn't order it again), quiche florentine (bland), and spinach salad (hard to mess that up, the taste was fine). I didn't like that you are given a glass and have to also go and get your drinks fast-food restaurant style. The entire experience was disappointing and not enjoyable. We shall be lunching elsewhere. We happened upon Madeleine's and probably drove the employees crazy as we tried to figure out how to navigate the restaurant. We looked at the menu and decided we wanted more than sandwiches and soup, so we decided to get some French pastries for the next morning and look elsewhere to eat dinner. While waiting for the order, I saw a rosemary chicken entree advertised on the counter. So we stayed. I ordered the chicken and then had to go back to the line to order the sides of rice and French onion soup. My husband got a big bowl of onion soup and then decided on the ham and cheese sandwich. He got a strawberry salad as the side for the sandwich. There was lots of going up and down from the cash register to the sides to figure it out. Then to figure out the drinks. My husband got tea and was given a glass to fill. I got pink lemonade and was given a glass 3/4 full of warm lemonade. My chicken was delivered to my table. The waiter took the electric notifier, but did not bring my husband's sandwich. I went to ask and was told it was coming. Finally I looked for a manger and he said the order got crumpled in the machine. Finally, the sandwich came. The soup was delicious. The chicken was good, but I did add salt to it for taste. My husband ended up taking his sandwich home and I took most of the chicken home. He ate the sandwich a few days later and said it was very good. The pastries we took home for breakfast were excellent. read more
