Without seeing a menu it's hard to tell what they were gonna have only thing I read about was breakfast and brunch. When we showed up they didn't have their menu posted outside like the other Restos but I got such a good feeling when I walked in that I didn't care and just grabbed a spot on the Deck. Beautiful deck with amazing big comfy wooden chairs with comfy seats. There's a beautiful tree that goes over the seating area covered in purple and gold lights it's really pretty. Service was quick and friendly the man we met was from France very sweet and gave us great service. Food Kale and cheese salad was amazing! Flavours were all there and the piece of cheese was huge so no complaints on the cheese portion size. Only thing I would change is put thicker pieces of Lardon as I noticed it was very thin and little slices of bacon hard to grab it. Chicken burger with cheese and cranberry sauce is great the chicken was to thick tho it should of been hammered out more but the chicken was perfectly cooked and crispy great quality. They added tomatoes and mustard which was a bit random almost like they tried to make it a good old fashion American burger but than they made something fancy. I would suggest maybe a sweet mayo and a tart cranberry sauce. I did request that they don't put walnuts in my salad but they did I told the guy but I said it's okay I'm not deathly allergic just to be careful for next time for others who are super allergic. He said sorry explained they just weren't thinking the guys in the back he offered us drinks we said no. We will back it was such fresh vegetables and great service everything tasted great

They don't take reservations and it's popular so we hoped we wouldn't have to wait long. During our 24 minute wait they have a coffee urn at the entrance to the restaurant so we can help ourselves while we wait. What a fabulous idea!! We sat outside in the outdoor Adirondack chairs while we drank our coffee until seating opened up for us. This place was hopping, and it seemed like that was the way it was throughout our time there. As soon as we were seated the lovely server, Catherine, gave us menus and asked if we wanted more coffee. It was really difficult to chose what to order because everything looked delicious and made on the premises. Because I grew up in Montréal I had to have a traditional Québec meal of the "Cabane à Sucre" Omelette which consisted of an "omelette" (which had to be the lightest and most perfect little pillow, which we were told could be eaten with maple syrup poured into the center when you lift off the top); maple-smoked ham, "oreilles de crisse" (like bacon but very thickly sliced and crisped to perfection, complimented when dipped in their homemade tomato relish); homemade baked beans with chunks of smoked ham and sweetened with maple syrup; home fried potatoes, pure maple syrup and toast (I opted for their HUGE Cottage Bread slices). My nephew's wife had the Table d'ôte consisting of a generous slice of Québec Tortiére, smoked ham, homemade baked beans, home fried potatoes and mashed turnips (with carrots). Applicable to both of us was how we reacted to our meals. Upon each bite of our respective morsels, we slowly savoured the flavours and textures and sweetness as if it were the first time we'd ever tasted Québequois cuisine. It was heaven for our tongues. We made sure to give Catherine a nice tip for her amazing service and lighthearted attitude. On our way out (I had a doggie bag) we stopped at the counter to purchase their homemade Pea Soup to have for dinner. Tasty and light and prepared with very little salt. If you are ever in the Val David area, or anywhere in the Laurentiens (or Montréal, for that matter) treat yourself. It's well worth the drive. Voilà!!

The flavor of the salted bacon came through better and was tastier than the ham. The soup was nice but was on the lukewarm side and needed salt. The little coleslaw was somewhat bland and over-peppered for my liking. Otherwise, a cute and not too expensive place for a quick bite to eat.

We usually end up there sometime between 11am and 1pm on a weekend day and naturally there is always a line (and the parking lot gets busy). Fortunately they started using a buzzer system to alert you when your order is ready, but be prepared to wait, longer than you would think for a fast food-type place along the side of the highway (usually 10-15 minutes). I suppose if you think of it more as a very casual restaurant (with no waiter service...), then the wait time is more acceptable. Though I usually get some all dressed steamies (classic steamed hot dog and bun, dressed with relish, mustard, onions/cabbage coleslaw) and a classic poutine (both excellent - the poutine is made using thick cut fries, doused in gravy, but with a good ratio of curds to fries), they have a number of other menu items, including a bevy of homemade desserts. The last time I was there, I decided to try their lasagna, which was part of a daily special that came with a drink, soup, and dessert. I chose the vegetable soup - full of veggies, hearty and tasty. The lasagna was actually amazing - loaded with so much melted browned cheese, served pipping hot with garlic bread on the side. Homemade meat sauce inside and I am pretty sure there was pepperoni scattered on the top, right under the cheese... and you can see in my photo that there was some green peppers on it - the effect was kind of like eating an all dressed pizza lasagna. I loved it. I chose a square of homemade carrot cake for the dessert, and fortunately they let me take it to go, but then I promptly left it on the table, oops. I like that there is a lot of seating outside, as well as a small playground - a great rest stop for kids. Cleanliness of bathrooms inside is hit and miss - women's one is usually fine, but not the men's. Cash or debit only, no credit. Overall, I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're looking for some classic Québecois fast food!
