Overview: On a ski trip to Mont Tremblant, we were given a recommendation to try Bistro A Vino - what a lovely little gem! While the menu was small, everything on it was well thought out and there was a wide variety of dishes to fit everyone wants and needs.
Atmosphere: Similar to many restaurants I visit in Fairfield County, CT and New York City. The restaurant had an upscale feel without being stuffy. There was simple decor and it was quiet enough to have good conversation. While it was a more formal restaurant, it still felt comfortable to be in. I personally love restaurants like this.
Service: Impeccable! First, I communicated with a lovely woman named Chantal, who helped me with making a reservation. She was very professional and helpful with quick responses via email. Many thanks to her for being so accommodating! In this area of Canada, the main language seems to be more French than English and the waiter, Christoph (I believe his name was) was patient with us as we choose our meals. He was also very helpful with giving good recommendations as he was well versed with the menu. What was also interesting, was all the females at the table were served first, which is not something you see everyday in the states. Many thanks to both of them for the amazing service!
Food: Everything was incredible - including the presentation! Since we were a group of nine, we were able to taste just about everything. Highlights from the first (I primi) course include the Atlantic salmon tartare, crème brûlée with foie gras and the tempura shrimps, homemade mayonnaise with smoked chipotles. for the main (I secondi) course I'd recommend the tagliatelle with porcini, local mushrooms and black truffle oil, the gnocchi with ricotta, organic tomato sauce and fresh basil and the Quebec veal steak, brie fondant, garlic and rosemary sauce. For dessert (I dolce) we loved the black chocolate (simialr to a chocolate lava cake), chocolate brownies with vanilla ice cream and mascarpone and frangelico eclair with maple syrup ice cream.
Drink: There was an extensive wine menu, which personally i was extremely happy with. There was also some specialty cocktails which were well received, however I didn't order any as I am more of a wine person.
Recap: We had a wonderful experience at Bistro a Vino! Everyone in our party seemed very happy with everything as it looked like there wasn't a speck of remaining food on anyone's plate! A perfect place to dine after a full day of skiing, that's for sure. Would definitely recommend this for groups, date night, girls' night and even a family dinner. If you're a foodie, you'll love this little place! read more
