I went here yesterday with my girlfriend, after she heard good thinks about this little Italian restaurant. It's not in the most fancy part of town (the center of St. Josse), but it has some big office buildings nearby (including some European Commission buildings), which might explain the existince of such a restaurant, which not the cheapest one, in this neighbourhood. When entering, you notice that the place is a bit small, with tables being close to each other, but the warm atmosphere and the friendly waiter immediately make up for this.
The dishes are not written down on a paper menu, but are only written on the blackboard, which probably means that they change according to the season and the availability of ingredients. I went for a paccheri alla norma (€16), my girlfriend for a spaghetti frutte di mare (€25). Both were excellent. It might be a bit expensive, but in this case I was very happy to pay this for such a good meal.
We also each had a delicious Italian Gewürztraminer accompanying our food.
The waiting time before taking the order was a bit long. In the first act the waiter explained the menu, and then left us with generous time to think. Some water, bread or already taking our drink order would have been nice. However, after we finally ordered, the food arrived relatively quick. So in general no complaints about the waiting times. And the friendliness of the waiter more than makes up for this.
In the restaurant is also a small Italian store, more like a walk-in closet, where you can buy Italian wines, spirits, olive oil and other specialities. read more
