Today I ordered the elote corn in a cup with a nacho. Previous yelp pics helped me decide on the nacho. Paid for my stuff and couldn't resist that thick melted cheese all-over the nacho's so I had to grab one. Delicious cheese and nice pickled jalapenos but after about 6nachos I got a few stale ones. I continued eating because I'm greedy and had to stop after realizing the rest of them were pretty stale. You know how you might get one but the rest is cool? Nah, the rest was stale. The small esquite was pretty tasty with lots of mayo on top and cheese. Definitely mix the corn before eating or you'll get a big ol glob of mayo and cheese. Chamoyada was delicious. I absolutely love it here. It's very nostalgic for me. Taking me back to such a special time. I've been a few times now and each time I've tried something different. Today I went with the Esquite and a Mango Sorbet. My first time trying the esquite I had them put everything in it, (mayo, fresh squeezed lIme juice, cheese & chili spice) and I didn't care for the lime juice. This time I had it minus the lime juice and I must say it was deeeeelicious! Creamy, cheesy goodness! The mango sorbet had a very fresh mango flavor. It's was almost like biting into a mango fresh off the tree. It was so refreshing, even when the high was 36 degrees. I highly recommend going in the middle of the day or week if possible. I mainly come here to get the street corn. They do have treats. It's been months since I've been here and that's mainly because they left a bad taste in my mouth. One evening me and a friend went and when we walked in, the ladies behind the counter said they were closed. However the sign stated still an hour left. They said they closed early for a store party. Love this spot! We visited on the first warm day of spring, and our visit was an excellent decision! The place was packed. The parking lot was absolutely full, and the line was a mile long, and it was still one hundred percent worth the visit. There was no seating available, so my family and I camped out in the back of our SUV to enjoy our treats. I had the mango chamoyada. My husband had ice cream, and my son had a kiwi paleta. All were fantastic! There were so many things on the menu and that I saw other people eating that I am excited to try in the future, including an opened bag of Doritos filled with salsa. Have you ever received such a large portion of something in a restaurant that you look at it and think to yourself "there's no way I could possibly eat all of that" and then proceed to lick the dish clean because it's so good? That's basically the situation I found myself in today with the mango chamoyada here. At $4.09, it's not exactly a cheap ice cream, but it is so worth it. A chamoyada is layers of the smoothest, iceiest, homemade sorbet with real chunks of fruit in it, layered with a sour pickled fruit chamoy sauce, sprinkled with chile powder and crowned with a chewy chamoy candy straw. It is the strangest and most addictive combination of flavors - mostly sweet, but also sour, salty, and spicy. I picked the mango ice cream/sorbet as my base, but I bet the lime and coconut would be equally delicious. All of the other icey concoctions at this spot looked delicious, particularly the chocolate dipped frozen bananas and hand-dipped ice cream bars. I almost missed this place but I knew it's in a newer small shopping center on the side side as Krogers shopping center but down a little more off Singleton but not close to any landmarks to spot it. While coming here, my Spanish skills tries to light up since I took 6 years of it, lol. Too bad back I never kept up with it after my Mexican friend got married and moved to Hawaii! I've been wanting to try this place out and finally got around to doing so today. I met up with a gf here after work today around 6p. There were quite a few tables filled when we arrived and it gradually got busier as time went by. I came here mainly for the mango and guava chamoyada but also saw that they offered mexican corn which is a favorite of mine so of course I had to try that too! The mexican corn is served two ways here. You can either get it on the cob or in a cup. I've never had it in a cup so I stuck with my usual corn on the cob. The corn was ok, I've had better. The chamoyada was interesting. I liked the flavor of the guava better than the mango but I didn't like all the seeds in the guava. The spices were a little overwhelming in the beginning but after awhile it all kinda came together. The overall dessert was quite refreshing and filling. I liked it but didn't love it. I was craving something sweet so I stopped by this place I found on Yelp. It's located in a small plaza on Singleton and Pirkle. Parking is limited since there's a Mexican grocery store and other stores in the plaza. The place is decorated with bright paint and they have about 10 small tables for seating. It was busy when I went so I was in and out within 7-10 minutes. I wanted some esquites but they were out of kernels so I settled for an elote. The corn was fresh but I felt like there wasn't enough flavor and a bit watered down. I don't think it was made with enough seasoning. Very bland to my liking. -1 for not having kernels and -1 for no flavor. I also ordered a mango chamoyada which was delicious since I haven't had it in awhile. Fresh mango ice cream topped with fresh mango chunks and smothered chamoy sauce. I'll definitely have to stop by again when they have esquites available. They have so many choices here, all homemade, from the ice cream to the popsicles. I went for the ever famous chili/ice cream combo that like Tiffany N. said, completely reminded of those Vero Mango lollipops or whatever they were called! I got two flavors in mine - guava and mango. The guava still had the seeds in it... meh. Prefer the mango - it goes well with the tamarind sauce and Tajin seasoning (chili/salt/sugar). "la mejor de michoacan" translates to "the best of michoacan". the name is a bit general, but they are an ice cream shop. ice cream choices range from bars (fruit or milk based) to sundaes.. and to the famous chamoyadas. I haven't had the chance to try their other cold treats other than the chamoyada, but from what I observed, everyone either orders a sundae or a chamoyada. a chamoyada is priced at $3.99 a cup. there are 7 flavors to choose from: - mango - limon (lime) - coco (coconut) - guayaba (guava) - fresa (strawberry) - pina (pineapple) - tamarindo (tamarind) *quick fyi : the prefix "chamoy" refers to a mexican sauce/condiment that's made from pickled fruits. they can range from sweet to sour, but they're typically sour majority of the times. me & the bf opted for the mango AND guava flavor. looks were no way deceiving. this semi-sweet treat tastes as good as it looks. the ice cream's texture is very smooth; almost comparible to a very fine, churned icee (or even sorbet). it also taste as if it's dairy-free (milk free). both the mango and the guava were just the right amount of sweetness. then, the chamoy (sauce) gave a second balance to the treat by giving our tastebuds the sour palette. then, to top it off, lucas & chili powder was sprinkled on top of the chamoy to give a 3rd balance of flavor - spicy. sweet, sour, and spicy = a party in your mouth the chamoyada is very comparable to a "vero mango" candy. you know, that one mexican candy that was shaped like a mango.. and covered in lucas? ahhh.. those were the days.. quick notes: - all their ice creams are homemade w/ real fruit... impressive :] - there are dried chunks of fruits in the ice cream (yay for texture) - the chamoy sauce is super sour, so be ready to get your squinty, sour face on - the 'guava' flavor is made with the pink guava. it also has seeds, so chew carefully - every chamoyada is served with a straw that's covered with tamarind paste and lucas - $5.00 credit card minimum read more

Thankful for friends that has a love to eat for they found and recommended this little gem to me, knowing that I love the Hispanic chili mango lollipop. It is located in a small plaza and the shop itself is small with maybe the counter one side and maybe 9 tables with chairs. It is very clean and spotless. My bf and I arrive after dinner and there was line but not too long. They have their menus plaster on the wall but my eyes were combing to find the ice cream called chamoy (picture uploaded). They have both water base ice cream (like a Popsicle) and milk base. The ice cream was like a sundae except without the fudge, whip cream, etc. It was their version with sour, salty, and spicy seasoning. The red liquid was probably a tamarind base syrup with chili seasoning. You had a choice of pineapple, lime, coconut, and other flavors which I can't remember which they will scoop in a plastic up, drizzle it with the red liquid and top it with the chili seasoning. It had the seasons of life, salty, sweet, sour, and spicy (IMO). They also garnish it with a stick that had the tamarind with chili. All this for $3.99, with tax was $4.27. They are super nice and friendly...took time out to explain the different items on their menu. They do have other things other than ice cream, including bakery goods and this item called dorilicos which is a bag of Doritos that they garnish with pork skin, cucumbers, tomato sauce, hot sauce, and a few items, which look delicious! This place is near where I grew up so I can definitely understand the hispanic influence in the area, and I love it. This ice cream place off Singleton & Pirkle (I just love saying Pirkle out loud) was a great out of the ordinary satisfaction for the sweet tooth. Maybe I was latin in another life, but I love the sweet and spicy taste. I tried the chamoyada and I got mango and lime. A chamoyada is a sorbet ice cream with chile & lime pepper (chamoya) on top. The chile stuff they put on top is awesome and adds a little kick to the ice cream. I also tried the eggnog ice cream that I got for Chef Justin White and it was great. The service was great. Since I only know a little bit of Spanish, it helped that they spoke English and they even chuckled at my attempt to communicate in Spanish :P. I love the pictures on the wall that help you figure out what you want because it's kind of overwhelming not knowing what to get. Soooo I've been wanting to try chamoyadas for awhile now ..since I saw all these pictures from my friends in Cali being posted on IG ..didn't know they had a place that makes it here in GA until my friend told me about this place over dinner one night @ Iron Age..I bookmarked it..and finally got a chance to try it today I don't care too much for the chamoyadas..the sauce that they put in the cup and on top of the ice cream..or for the tamarind candy stick they stick into the cup..I prefer that candy stick by itself ..without the cold ice cream hardening it..making it difficult to bite off But what I do love ..is that guava ice cream that I had in the chamoyada ..OMG ..never had guava ice cream before ..n I would come here just to eat on that all day .. I totally preferred it over the mango ..you can taste the seed and chunks of guava in there ..über awesome .. If you're curious as to what the ice cream that goes in chamoyadas are..it's taste and texture is similar to Italian ice..(think the fruity ..none milk based Italian ice from Rita's)..
