(Located inside the Courtyard hotel.)
Solid food and service, primarily for US travelers. There's nothing wrong with this in hotel restaurant, and there's nothing too exciting about it either.
It's open early (06:00), so you can get a decent breakfast before heading out to your work or meeting at the plant (of course, that's why most of us are here), and it's a decent dinner if you're tired or just tired of going out. Breakfast here is way better than the breakfasts traditionally included with this price point of hotel in the US.
On several days, I ate egg white omelets with spinach and cheese. These are smaller than what you are used to from the USA, but it was certainly enough for me. Egg whites and spinach were fresh, and overall the omelets were well-cooked. They come with a side of refried beans, but if you ask they'll substitute with sliced tomato. They also include a bit of fresh salsa which changes by the day. This brightens up the flavor of the omelet.
They have precut fruit plates available to serve with yogurt and juice. If you get giving waitstaff, they'll put together a plate of your favorite fruit, instead of whatever they have premade. The fruit is fresh and good quality.
Coffee is served with breakfast. It's decent and hot, but not that strong, so plan a stop somewhere else, if you need something richer. Breakfast is served with toast, too, the sometimes the bread is just warm and doesn't have any color/toasting.
Dinner here was fine, reasonable quality, reasonable portion, reasonable flavor, just not that exciting. There is so much good food in Monterrey that I see La mesa de Geronimo as a good breakfast spot on work days and dinner a pinch for when I just don't want to be bothered.
Solid speed and waitstaff, too. read more
