This restaurant is part of the Royal Safi Luxury Hotel, one of the nicest hotels in Monterrey, conveniently located downtown on Pino Suárez Ave. Everything about this place is classy and high end. As you enter the hotel / restaurant grounds it's as if you were transported far away from the hot and often dirty downtown into another world with gardens, fountains, elegant columns, beautiful architectural details, classic artwork, and serene music.
The staff is always very attentive, elegantly dressed, professional, courteous and proactive (as if they anticipate what you will require next and have it ready). Elegant table settings with tent folded napkins adorn the tables. During certain hours there is live instrumental classic music. While I was there they had a saxophonist playing songs like "Solamente Una Vez" , "Bésame Mucho" and "Eres Tu" to an accompaniment track.
There is self parking: limited parking above ground, and more in the underground garage.
The menu is extensive and includes something for everyone: steaks, seafood, poultry, Mexican "antojitos", soups, salads, burgers, etc. Regular drinks or wines.
Prices are a bit high, but this is a high end restaurant. It's expensive, but less than what you would pay for the same in the USA. While you eat you can enjoy the expansive dining room, the gorgeous architectural details and serene setting.
There is a very nice breakfast buffet with all kinds of danishes, muffins, coffee cake, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices. They also have several hot entrees on the breakfast buffet such as various guisos, tamales, beans, chilaquiles, and eggs cooked to order and brought to your table.
The lunch buffet varies each day of the week featuring cuisine from another country: Oriental Monday, Mediterranean Tuesday, Mexican Wednesday, Mixed Grill Thursday, Seafood Friday, Italian Saturday, and Grand International Sunday (which includes paella, Angus roast beef, choice of tepanyaki, and much more). There is always the fruit bar, loads of desserts, and fresh baked breads. Lemonade or orangeade are complimentary. Other drinks have an additional charge. The lunch buffet price is 350 pesos (roughly $17 USD) plus tips. For a comparable buffet in the USA you would pay much more.
The restrooms (across the hotel reception area) are impeccable, bright and beautiful. The sinks are bowls carved from onyx which has formations of tan, clear and cream colors.
I have eaten here multiple times because I have stayed at this hotel a lot. It has always exceeded my expectations. This restaurant is family friendly, but is also a great place for date night.
This last time I ate here I ordered the enchiladas suizas off the menu. It was delicious and a generous portion. I actually could not finish it.
When you're looking for an elegant place to dine that has delicious food and exceptional service, I highly recommend this restaurant. read more
