One of our favorite farmers markets here in San Diego! They have a great selection of food from Brazilian to African food. Their selection of desserts is also wonderful! They have lots of vegan options as well. All the vendors we have come across have been super friendly and down to earth. It's sometimes packed, but usually still enjoyable to walk around. 5 Stars for the La Mesa Farmer's Market. It meets on Fridays from 3-7:30pm. This is a really good place to come if you value eating local. I'm always trying to source food that was grown/harvested as close as possible. You can find real Avocado Blossom Honey at the farmers market. Real is rare. A lot of the Avocado Blossom Honey you see on grocery store shelves is really low quality stuff. CUTE! Did you know? Because I didn't know... La Mesa has their own Farmers Markets on Friday evenings?! From 2:30/3 - 7pm (I think). It's like all other farmers markets but larger than some and smaller than some. Couple block radius with nearly the same vendors (shops and food). However, less crowded and walking is way more enjoyable. My visits to farmers market are mainly for fresh vegetables and fruits. The picks were organic green beans. I love love love green beans from farmers markets. After preparing they have this clean freshness taste. Side note, Trader Joe's 'Organic' String Beans taste disgusting. I came to this farmer's market specifically to the meet and greet at Yasukochi Family Farms. There were many vendors selling produce and other goodies. I didn't have time to check them all out, but will definitely visit more stalls in the future! As for the Yasukochi stall, they had a lot of fruits, honey, veggies. Their CSA box has more selection though. They helped me pick out some produce and said that I can microwave artichokes! That was a good tip, since I didn't know how to prepare it LOL. read more

The last time I was at this market, it was still located in the Civic Center, and I really liked it there because of the available parking lot. As a disabled person with a 81-year old mother, it was very difficult to find parking even remotely close. Fortunately, we found a spot, only because people were leaving since it was near closing time. The time of day seemed to impact the vendors as they started to close up shop. It was a little off-putting. That said, the produce we did see looked gorgeous, and the food we ate was good. That said, I'm not too sure how soon we'll come back and give it another try. read more

I went to the La Mesa Farmer's market a couple of weeks ago for the first time in a couple of years... and my how it's grown! It was a bit of a trick to find parking, but I was able to find a street space just a few blocks from La Mesa Bouldevard. I went with a good friend of mine and her dog. Upon arrival, one of the first things I noticed was just how dog friendly this Farmer's Market was. It was fun to sit at a bench on the side of the road and see all of the different dogs of every shape and size walking down the street. This farmer's market is not huge compared to some others in San Diego, but does have a wonderful variety of vendors. There were veggies, crafts, cheeses, hot food, flowers, desserts, a coffee cart, and more. Also, all of the restaurants and shops were open, which really provided a fun La Mesa Village experience. My favorite thing that I bought was a Valentine's dog scarf made by a woman who makes scarves that fit over a collar, so you don't have to tie it. It's adorable! I may have to go back and get another. They had a singer/musician too which added a festive feeling to the evening. The hot food variety was a bit on the small side, and I think there could have been more benches or tables to sit and have something to eat. Overall, this is a very nice farmer's market and a really nice way to bring the community together on a weekly basis! I look forward to going back. read more

With my visit to the Farmers Market, it was at the middle of the day and the time of the day it was just coming on the afternoon and the many vendors that were still arriving and the many food vendors had already set up for the day and the many other vendors just had closed the many tents with the many things I would like to see the variety. With the many farmers markets that6 I have been to is the feel of the atmosphere and the sellers that have that feel good and many that have some of the best natural products and the freshest baked goods and the wholesome cheeses that are from the farms of California. The many states that I have traveled to and the sights and sounds of the farmers markets can be summarized in one word is the down-home feel to see the many great products. The way you get when you go to a country fair the smell of the food and the barns and the animals that give you that whole some feel and when you look at everything is that you have been to one of the greatest Farmers Markets. The City of Lamesa does have that down home feel with the many farmers that I have seen and the Country Cheese Maker that is what makes a farmer market. From the people that greeted me at the entrance and told me about the many areas of the Village and the great food looking to see some of that in the Farmer's Market. The great help and the direction to see those that can help those for the first-time visitors and those that are the first visitors they can be the ones that like to look around and have some of the food of the vendors. The one place that had amazed me was the Vendor that did Italian Deserts and the baked goods that were Incredible they have much more to try and with the day it was so much time. I took home the deserts and tried the coffee truck that was at the end that was a great coffee blend I'll be returning to tackle more of the Farmer's Market there were a few things that caught my eye with the hot foods they looked Incredible. Farmers market located in the heart of the Village and the easiest way you can travel is to take the Trolley and get off at the Lamesa Blvd Trolley station. The Farmer's Market is located up the street from the Trolley Center and if you drive you may have to park a few blocks that within walking distance to the Farmer's Market. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer, I found that the Lamesa Farmer's Market is one of the best and the many vendors to see there was one that gave meaning to the Farmer's Market is the Cheese Maker its always great to see an old-fashioned cheese maker that when I had tasted had some of the creamiest cheeses. This farmer's market in La Mesa gives off street festival vibes. The aisles and sidewalks are packed with families, young people, locals, and of course, all sorts of vendors. Along with the expected fresh produce and foodstuffs, there were also merchants offering candles, soap, pet treats, jewelry, flowers, plants, and clothes. Entertainment included live music, a magician, face-painting and balloon animals. There is a nook dedicated to food booths splitting off onto 3rd Ave, and several food trucks at both ends of the market. The businesses and restaurants lining each side of La Mesa Blvd were also overflowing with patrons. It's inspiring to attend an event that's so embraced and supported by the community. read more

Hard to find parking so we had to park like 2 blocks from the Market, but it was fine it is a nice area to walk , was a little crowded but expected for the warm weekend everyone is out, found a lot of organic food needed for the week and also enjoyed the ready to eat food at the carts , not too noisy so is still enjoyable with the family read more

It is an OK farmer's market, but to its credit it is the only real local one. Santee has one, but with only like 6 vendors. This one at least has a good amount. They have a small "hot" food alley, fresh vegetables, and flowers along with a coffee stand, frozen ice treat thing, and what seems to be a rotating of other treat places. My favorite is hands down the Sweet Potato Pie guy, he is very nice, and entertaining. Plus the pies are amazing! read more

Worthless. Avoid. I was a regular when the market was near the police station in the vast empty parking lot. There was plenty of parking and it was accessible to all. They moved the market to the worst place, the most congested area of downtown La Mesa. I tried going there today and circled around for 15-20 minutes looking for parking, burning gas and adding to air pollution while doing so. I gave up and left. Prices are reasonable at most vendors. Have to admit, I am all about the beets. There are a lot of people, but it's not difficult to navigate my powerchair. It's fun to people watch. Also fun to run into neighbors. My sweetie loves the free samples. We roll/walk from our home to save on metered parking. A friend took me to the Farmer's Market today. I had a wonderful time. It is in a cute part of La Mesa & parking meters close by. The vendors are very personable & the selection of fruits & vegetables were delightful. The prices were spectacular especially knowing most everything was picked that day. The strawberries were so sweet. I didn't know you could still buy those sweet strawberries. I also found a dairy free yogurt that was to die for. I have numerous health problems, so I was excited to find this place. I could really change my diet & have a one stop shop. I would love to try the eggs. Then all the food vendors. We had Indian food & the portions are large enough to share or take home for leftovers. A little bit of everything, but not too big to overwhelm you. It might only be here for one more week. This Farmer's Market is def. a lot smaller than the ones in Hillcrest or Little Italy. However, I think it's a great place for all the La Mesa locals to gather on a weekly basis. There are about 10 different vendors that come each week, and each one is as friendly and warm as the next. My personal favorites are: OH LA VACHE - #CarbsOverload! ... but I'm not complaining! They sell amazing bread and pastries. My personal favorites are the coconut pastries and the blueberry scones, which are $3 a piece or $5 for two pieces of your choice. I usually spend about $20-$30 whenever I come. I know, I'm a fatty :) FATHOM FIVE FISH CO - I got two orders of the tuna and salmon. They come in small containers about the size of your palm for $6 each. The fish was fresh and I loved the texture of the tuna :) Great buy!! Parking is a bit tight, but I could understand why everyone was eager to get into this farmers market. There was a wide selection of herbs, crafts and oh yes FOOD including fresh produce and hot meals. There were at least a half dozen produce stands and the prices were about the same at each. The prices were reasonable but about the same that I can find at my reg produce store Sprouts/Henry's. There was also seafood, nuts, various ethnic hot foods, olive oils and a variety of dips. My favorite dip is the "Bitchin" sauce in the chipotle flavor. This is great with regular tortilla chips but I plan to experiment with this on homemade fish tacos. I will be coming here on a regular basis, there is so much more for me to try. I come here not so much for the price but the wide variety which I am grateful to have in my hood. read more

For a San Diego farmers market this is decent. When I compare it to the one I usually go to at UCI, it's pretty small. Is it me, or are the SD farmers markets really expensive in comparison to OC ones? Produce was a buck or two more per pound, and the artisanal food items were also much pricier than what I'm used to. We bought some gourmet pasta from the vendor here. It was fantastic. They give you samples which don't do the pasta justice at all. We got the lemon pasta and were able to use one portion for two meals (for 2 people). There are not a lot of produce vendors selling similar items hence no competition really. Maybe that's why the prices are high. Still, there is a little of everything from fruits to vegetables and the odd gourmet food item here and there including artisan breads. There is also seafood, nuts, flowers, and some cooked food vendors. I've got to visit a few more farmers markets down in SD..... this one is much better than the SD Public Market one. That one was even more outrageously priced! read more

It would be a two if not for the accessibility for La Mesa residents and the great farmer Gilbert of Gilbert's farms. Smallest of the farmers markets in San Diego, no freshly cooked food like other farmers markets and only about 10-15 stands. Not worth coming out unless you live in the area. If you do live in the area then it's still worth visiting to buy someone flowers because there are multiple sellers with beautiful arrangements for really cheap. Parking is great because there is a large free parking lot right next to it. And it still provides fresh farm vegetables and fruits. Why go to vons?? Gilbert farm's owner Gilbert is very friendly and has the best value on strawberries. They are really sweet and he sells them at $2/basket or 3 for $5. read more

It was so beautiful today and finally got to check out this market. This happens every Friday from 2pm-6pm. A few vendors from vegetables, fruits, pasta, sauces, honey and even flowers. I got some apple cider and sauces by Bitch'n Sauces. Really good stuff, made with almonds which I like. The sauces I got was the chipotle and cilantro chile. I like the chipotle more. I like how were able to sample the sauces with chips. The guy also makes the chips too so it was delicious! I let the hubby choose the sauces, since I always pick things. I'll definitely come back to get more apple cider and check out more vendors. read more
