First off. We messaged Mike through WhatsApp and he got back to us almost immediately. And he answered all our questions even into the night when he was clearly off work. So the communication was superb. He was very personable and helpful. First off, I HIGHLY recommend you arrange transportation there and back if you're staying in Quebec City. Its not terribly far out of Old Quebec, but theres no way you're gonna get an Uber or taxi our there any time soon. So the day arrived and we got to the dog sled area, and it was really cool. We're from Florida so cold is not ideal for us. And the paper said that day that Quebec was LITERALLY the coldest place on planet earth that day, so...ugh. Anyway, when we got there they gave us a quick briefing on how to do it and safety issues. Then we mounted up. Got on our own sled with four dogs pulling. They are all BEAUTIFUL and sweet dogs. Then off we went! Some things you should know. Its not all a leisurely ride through the woods by dogs that just know the deal and go. You constantly have to egg then on saying Allez, allez, allez! At some points you need to hop and help push the sled up very short little inclines. So not terrible, but not for people completely out of shape. And the dogs stop to pee and poop. Like. A lot. More than you'd expect anyway. No one's fault. Nothing to be done about it. Its just nature. But good to know to prepare for it. We were gone about an hour give or take. Which is the perfect amount of time. Other places we looked at had mu h longer rides, which before we did it sounded great. But believe me, an hour is plenty! Its taxing whether your mushing or riding. My wife and I took turns doing both so we could both drive and ride. Its a super cool experience. The guys that work there are knowledgeable and very easy going. All the dogs were great. Never even thought I'd put this on my bucket list since it's not something you can go and do anywhere. But getting the opportunity was an amazing experience. Great place. Great communication. Great dogs. What's not to like? Allez. Allez. Allez! read more
