Off the beaten path of tourist-crowded restaurants, souvenir shops, and groups of students after school, this quiet respite is actually a monastery! There's a spa, restaurant, and to get to the elevators/stairs to your room, you pass through their museum. You have a couple of choices when booking - a contemporary room (upgraded, modern, minimalist), or a traditional one. Heads up (literally!) - the contemporary rooms are on the upper floor, and have a slanted ceiling which may be awkward for some. The restaurant is wonderful - breakfast is European-style. It comes with the room, and there is so much variety to choose from. Don't expect it to be like some hotel chains in the U.S. with noisy waffle makers, machines that dispense juice, or huge toasters that rotate your bread. Loved staying here - central to everything, including an 8-minute walk to the train station!

The website said bring hairdryer, which I did, a big use of space for a carryon only traveler, but I did as stated, only to find a hairdryer in the room. Bed is a twin, but very comfortable, duvet, mattress cover, nice linens. Don't even think about checking in before 4 pm. I tried at noon, 3 pm and finally at 410 pm my room was ready. They did keep my luggage though as I waited. WiFi works well. I travel and work from the computer so WiFi is a must. I purchased the breakfast included meal plan. Will let you know how that is.

I wish I had taken the time to learn some of the language before I drove into their country. That said the people in Quebec were unfailingly kind. Anyway, this is a RV park across the river from Quebec city. It is a quick drive to the Pont de Quebec bridge and from there you can pass to Quebec city in about 20 minutes (we opted to take the ferry but more on that later.) There are quite a few sites on the property and it seems that they segregate based on the size of the rig. The class a sites are well laid out with a nice concrete pad with little to no shade. The smaller trailer sites are pretty close together but they are nicely treed. The lady who owns the place spoke some english and was very helpful to me she was also incredibly kind to my kids. She really went out of her way to try to communicate and made sure she recommended the best places to eat and things to see. She also advised us not to drive into Quebec city and to take the ferry. Great advice since parking a trailer would have been a huge problem. There is a screened in room with a television and a wifi hotspot. I was able to connect and work for several hours with no problems. I did have wifi at my site but I'm not sure if there is at all of them. They have 2 different networks going so she said if I had a problem with one to try the other one closer to the office. They have two showers per bathroom and 2 washers and 2 dryers in the laundry room. I can't remember what the cost was but I know we had to pay for both the showers and the laundry. This is a great park in a perfect location close to grocery stores, restaurants and even a costco. I'll be back to Quebec city someday and I'll surely stay here again.

I might be misremembering that. Guy behind the desk did not seem to appreciate my pathetic, terrible attempts at French. Girl behind the desk the next day was nicer. Neither was outright unpleasant. Didn't eat breakfast here. Why on earth would I eat a continental breakfast when I'm a few miles up Rue Laurent to QC? Overall, this was a perfectly fine, reasonably priced hotel for a weekend-stay.

There were people immediately to take care of our luggage, and to wave us away when they said they would take care of the parking and any other logistics. Check-in was easy, and I was delighted to discover I had been given an upgraded room without making any request or having any particular status. The room was twice as large as most hotel rooms I've stayed at, with delightful views, a large and very comfortable bed, a couch and desk, and a style that was elegant without being stuffy. My fellow travelers had a room that was even more phenomenal because of the view it had over the water and the cruise ships that were coming and going. Hotel staff were always helpful with suggestions for places to go or neighborhoods where we'd find a selection of restaurants to eat at. In the evenings there is a small and comfortable area to order drinks and to listen to the guitarist or to simply sit and watch the fireplace. Although it is a high priced hotel, I would absolutely return. Its location is perfect. Walkable throughout the old town area and to the port. And its comfort and sense of quiet unpretentious luxury cannot be beat.

It did not disappoint. We got a room upgrade to a lovely view of the castle and it even had a balcony. The breakfast at Chez Muffy was exceptional...the first morning it was so good I deemed it the best breakfast of my life (over a 1/2 century of living too). The only minor complaint we had was that we arrived late and the bar was closed. We were a little hungry so the front desk receptionist offered us some snacks from the mini bar. We should have realized these snacks would be mini bar pricing even though he handed them to us from the reception desk. $26 of chips and pretzels showed up on the bill! Our mistake. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again though. The bed was comfortable. The shower great too. And the service was very friendly.

The wooden floors are awesome, so much better than old, stained rugs in many hotels of similar price. The bed was comfortable, the TV was fine, once I figured out how to deal with the two remote situation. Front desk staff was helpful when I needed a taxi and when I had general questions about the area. Rooms are cleaned by maids only if you are staying for four days or more, so be aware of that. While not luxurious, the room fits the needs of a traveler well. I will definitely consider staying here again.

It looks like a castle in the sky. It is an older hotel but is beautifully preserved. So much history there. The rooms can be a little small- specifically the bathrooms unless you upgrade. We booked a room on the Gold Floor and had a great room, very small bathroom. The cleaning service was inconsistent. We got mouthwash after 3 days but not to start. No slippers like typical Fairmonts. The Gold Floor lounge is nice. Definitely not our favorite gold level lounge but still nice. Limited healthy protein options at breakfast. Vincent was our absolute favorite. We made an attempt to sit in his section every morning. His bright spirit was the perfect way to start the day. The bar downstairs is beautiful. It has limited seating and lots of non-guests want to experience it. The cocktails are so good and service is great. We are headed back in the winter and are looking forward to seeing it during the holidays.

The employees were all friendly, personable, and fluent in English and French. In the morning the hotel provides a bountiful buffet with eggs, croissants, bread pudding, fruit, baked beans, and more! Coffee and wine are available self-serve in the lounge at all times. I'm deducting 1.5 stars due to the terrible, stress-inducing parking situation. Hotel Champlain has its own walled-in parking lot which has marked spaces about 2" wider than the width of a vehicle. The lot has various obstacles like columns, a curve, an incline, and a luggage cart storage area, designed to maximize your chances of crashing into something. Every time we moved the car, we needed two people to stand outside the vehicle: one to keep wheeling luggage carts out of the way in a slide-puzzle-like shuffle, and one to give verbal directions to the driver like "you're two inches from the concrete pillar so pull in your side mirror." The hotel has over 50 rooms and only 24 parking spaces. We paid an extra fee for a guaranteed parking spot, but several times someone had parked in our spot anyway, necessitating a report to the front desk and rearrangements. I rate this hotel 3.5 stars rounded up to four stars. I want to stay here again!

Having paid 1400$ for 5 night stay 5 months in advance, I was disappointed with my room. It was dark and the tiny window looked out on 3 other windows to another building--2 feet away! Very claustrophobic! Called front office and asked if I could get an upgrade to a bigger room with a view. Was informed that there were no other rooms that day or the next ,but I could check with the front desk 2 days later. But I decided 2 days later I didn't want to take the time to move or pay more money. I learned that morning that they'd already changed my room to what turned out to be smaller, much older with dirty torn carpet. I was forced to move and although I was assured by 3 employees that they had removed charges for the "upgrade ", they went ahead and charged me extra and I got no response from my long email asking about it.
