This was a recommended restaurant by friends who lives in Rancho Costa Verde. The place was along San Felipe's malecon (boardwalk). Very friendly staff. We requested to be seated inside as it was very windy. We ordered carne burrito, fish tacos, shrimp tacos, steamed clams & mixed ceviches. The burritos were different from what we know in Cali. They're flat as what is inside was the meqt only; the spanish rice, refried beans and greens were on the side. Everything was good, ambiance relaxed and the price was right. read more

NEVER AGAIN! Pass through San Felipe a few time a year and this has been my go to informal restaurant on the Malecon for awhile. NEVER AGAIN! Ordered shrimp tacos and was served oil soaked deep fried blobs of batter with the possibility there was diced shrimp inside. The oil was old and possibly rancid. Ate one taco and now I'm in my room worried about food poisoning. BEWARE! zero stars! read more

We enjoyed or dinner here right on the sea of Cortez. Service was great. We ordered too much food! The shrimp cocktail was enough for dinner. I also ordered the coconut shrimp, which I'll be having for lunch tomorrow! The margaritas were made with a sour mix, which isn't our first choice. This can be a very touristy destination, but tonight was full of local ex pats. We will come again, especially off season. read more

My husband catch a fish, and he asked the staff if they could cook it for him and they did, they did a great job it was very delicious!

This place has amazing salsa! We actually asked for an order to take home sadly it didn't make it back on the car trip. I ordered the garlic shrimp and hubby had enchiladas. Ate here twice during our stay. The food was delicious and fresh. I ordered the whole fish for 200 pesos and it was enormous and delicious.

Been vacationing in San Felipe for years now and just had the pleasure of enjoying a dinner here. Customer service was friendly and accommodating. Beers were cold and plentiful. The coconut shrimp I ordered were huge and crunchy, so yummy!! My boyfriends mother ordered the fried whole fish. She told the waitress she was very hungry so if she could bring her a big fish and to her surprise the waitress brought her 2 fish!! So delicious, crisp and clean tasting. My boyfriend is not a fan of mariscos so he always orders a meat dish and this one did not disappoint. He ordered 3 enchiladas, one beef, one chicken and one cheese and 2 quesadillas with carne asada. Very flavorful and filling. Not only was all the food great the presentation was also thoughtful. Our server Mayra was sweet and prompt. Overall it was a great experience and the food was fresh and tasty. We love San Felipe and we really try to support small business and the economy here any chance we can get, and this restaurant is a great place to do so at. read more

I ate at La Morena the first time I visited San Felipe, and now that I live here during the winter, I come here frequently. I love deep fried food and have had the whole fish several times. It's crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. I usually order one of the shrimp dishes; I like the coconut shrimp, Philadelphia shrimp, Costa Azul shrimp (wrapped with bacon and stuffed with cheese) and breaded shrimp (I said I love deep fried food) Those who prefer shrimp with sauce, they have several sauces and every one I've tried was very good. One thing I really enjoy is that the front of the restaurant is open and faces the Sea of Cortez. On nice days (ie most days in San Felipe) you can sit at a front table with a great view of the Sea, people watch, and even bring your well behaved dog in next to your table while you enjoy your meal. read more

This restaurant served me the most disgusting Mexican food I've ever had. The chile rellenos were lukewarm and watery. The rice they came with just tasted like unflavored white rice and looked like it was died a weird pink color. The rice really grossed me out just to look at it. The beans it came with were fine except some gross chips were mixed into them. Overall, not good food at all. Now a note on the service... I speak Spanish with moderate fluency and I try very hard to speak the language to the best of my ability. When speaking to a waitress at this restaurant, I used a word incorrectly. Instead of politely telling me or just ignoring it altogether, she laughed in my face then walked off and began talking to another waitress about what I had said. I was confused because I didn't realize what I had said was incorrect. She was looking at me from across the restaurant, laughing and making faces at me. Needless to say, I felt humiliated. I treat the Spanish language with respect, but received no respect in return from this woman. This restaurant is TERRIBLE and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

We went back again and again to get the fish with Mango & Chipotle sauce. The fish and the sauce are both absolutely the most delicious thing. I highly recommend anyone in San Felipe go to Mariscos del Morena and order the Pescado con Mango y Chipotle. I also really enjoyed the Bloody Mary & their salsa is pretty tasty too. We were able to bring our dog and sit in the outside seating, which was very helpful to us. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant since 2004. It was very small, great service and great food. Since it has gotten much bigger and with that the quality of food and service has also changed. Service is slow, food takes time to get done, orders came out wrong and the food was not good. I loved this place before its no longer the same. read more

First off I am giving this place 3stars beacause of staff,they are very happy and in a rush to get u seated take your order but once you get your food you have to chase them down to get more drinks any additional sideorder. As we had our dinner on a slow night only 3 tables had guest and service was lacking attention to customers. As for food i had shrimp plate with mango chipotle sauce i really enjoyed the flavor,it was a good size serving. My husband and daughter shared a shrimp tower said to serve 2 but i think 3 can enjoy as they were unable to finish it,they agreed and state flavor was good. read more
