Fantastic dinner last night 1/16/25, at the Sweet Spot. Started off with guacamole & chips. Both the chip's & guacamole were delicious! Chips seemed freshly fried to perfection & the guacamole was simply prepared, but the avocados were perfectly ripe & the three of us all commented how delicious they were! For dinner I had the fresh fish special which was a fresh, flaky, bid piece of Sea Bass, sautéed with a garlic, red pepper, topping. It was served with perfectly cooked vegetables. The fish portion was huge! I thought for sure I'd be taking home half of it, but before I realized, I had eaten the whole dinner. #2. Had the chicken piccata. My husband was happy with it. It looked like a creamy sauce, almost an Alfredo sauce. #3. Had the Baja Fish tacos & was really pleased. She gets fish tacos everywhere & said these were possibly the best. Meet the owner via a fb group she was kind in the group and that made us stop by. A very cute spot. Friends birthday they treated her well. A great unexpected change from traditional Mexican food! We ate Friend 1 had steak, baked potatoes and veggies. The steak was so tender and seasoned so good, didn't need steak sauce. Friend 2. Had sweet and spicy shrimp with rice it had just the right kick Friend 3. Had fish and chips, they use panko bread and I'm not a fan so I skipped My son had baby back ribs fall of the bone I had the sampler it was huge enough for 2 people the wings and brisket was my favorite The drinks didn't lack alcohol either My only complaint would be more desert options. The food was really gross. Fish and chips consisted of fish sticks that in the states you could buy in a box in the grocery store. While the fish was fresh it was 'fishy'. It was great to find good American southern food cooked right down in Mexico. Everything was great, service, food, prices, and the establishment was clean and the staff spoke English - even though I tried my best Spanish. Highly recommend this place. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful views and decor. I only give 4 stars because there was an unusually long wait for food and we were visiting in the off season. So summer patrons beware. But that being said, the sweet spot has good food and affordable drinks! read more

I am hardly at a loss for words, but after having this dining experience, suddenly I am finding it hard to express how wonderful it was. My son (12 years old) just said "Wow! Everything here is so good". My 13 y.o. Daughter just said "this is poppin'". My wife is gorging herself on the kick a$$ ribs, and I am enjoying a taco salad! This was satisfying to all, and we will never make a trip to San Felipe without coming to "The Sweet Spot". Btw, my wife was on her second margarita about 10 minutes in. Everything was delicious. I wandered in here on New Year's Day 2016 on a road trip from LA. The decor is ok, there is a bar with outdoor seating directly across from the beach. On Thanksgiving and New Years/Xmas they serve a special dinner. New Years 2016, the special was smoked pig, candied yams, Mac/chess, rice and black eyes peas, and desert. It is great southern cooking from a blend of the owner (Louisiana) his wife (Texas) and chef (Arkansas). I have eaten at western restaurants abroad that try a holiday special meal for ex-pats. The food here far exceeded the American restaurants I have encountered around the world. Great bar-b-q and others liked what they ordered. Met the owner and his wife who were quite hospitable. I would definitely eat there again. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. The only reason I'd give even one star is because the bar staff were friendly and made a great drink. Being that we didn't want to get sick from eating beef in Mexico we asked to see the burger before it was cooked, I realize this is an unusual request but we've done the same in upscale restaurants back at home with fish. The sever sent to cool out, he was very defensive and offended by our request. We explained why and said if they couldn't do that we would eat somewhere else. The cook became angry and refused to show us the beef patty. We asked to speak with the owner, the owner came out and said, "I hear you have a problem with our beef!" We explained no we wanted to check for freshness since we have had bad experiences in the past with beef in Mexico. He also became very defensive and said they only serve usda beef, we said great then there shouldn't be a problem, if there is we will leave and go somewhere else. Reluctantly they brought us the beef, a frozen patty. We said great no problem we will take two burgers please. The burgers were terrible, dry, lacked any flavor and it was piled on with so many other things I couldn't get it in my mouth, I had to pick it apart to eat it. The French fries were soggy and very greasy. In all we didn't enjoy a single thing about our meal. We will not go back. read more

Great potential but awful food and service. The food was overpriced and came in very small amounts. The sampler BBQ platter was supposed to serve 2 and my husband could have eaten it all himself and still be hungry. We asked why we were only given one rib (which was tiny, maybe 3" long) when the menu said two- and the cook said oh we usually cut it in half but we didn't. Unbelievable. Also there was 16% food tax plus 15% gratuity for tables over 6. The owner is just trying to gouge everyone for money. Bar is the only decent thing about this place. We have been here many times. D'Andre makes a great fresh squeezed margarita. The food is great and the outdoor atmosphere is relaxing. Great place to watch Football in the fall. He generally closes during the hot Summer months. By far the cleanest restrooms in San Felipe! read more
