I am a public school educator…read more Many of the teachers here previously taught in the public school system, such as one who taught for 20 years in LAUSD. The rigor is there. The staff emails all the time and answers emails quickly without needing to set up appointments--that's a HUGE difference than public school. What GCS does better than public schools is give grace--late work is accepted, retesting is often offered, and more. The funny thing is, this is an equity issue that many public districts are just now doing--LBUSD and LAUSD both offer these now. GCS has been doing this for YEARS because it's part of the praxis of Christianity--if you can have a second chance, they'll give it to you. So thankful to be part of the GCS community. I never thought we'd be private school people, but Covid changed that. Now I see the huge difference between public and private education--and I teach in a public school.

I am a grown adult now and can look back and see the ways that some teachers really take advantage of the fact that children do not have the capabilities to defend themselves. I remember many instances of abusive language and outright racism towards me (one of the only Asian students in a primarily white classroom.) I remember an extremely problematic comparison of Asians to Jews when explaining why "people didn't like Jews." I remember her calling me the dumbest smart person she had ever met and treating me like my successes mattered less than the ones of my white classmates. I remember her yelling in class, and I remember her making me cry many times. I am a teacher myself now and am horrified that this was ever allowed. I am horrified that she still works there. People like this should not be allowed to be around children. I hope she finds a different line of work.

Everyone is very welcoming and attentive to all the children. Our son has a couple food-related allergies (peanut and dairy) and they do their best to accommodate. Over the past few months, they have renovated the classrooms and made some improvements to the large play yard. There is also a centralized app (Brightwheel) where parents receive important updates, make payments, receive photo updates, and check-in/out their child/children and I have not run into any issues so far. Parking can be a bit busy on random occasions but they have enforced a new rule that prevents cars from blocking the main driveway and there's plenty of street parking if the actual spots are taken. We're lucky enough to walk to CEEP on occasion but when we do drive, there's almost always parking available for a quick pick up or drop off. Lastly, the curriculum and schedules are very well-balanced and our son always comes home sharing exciting updates about what he learned, what he saw, and/or what kinds of arts and crafts he worked on. I could keep going but I'll end this review by highlighting the excellent operation here and how happy my child (and my wife and I) feel about Cypress Early Explorers Preschool.

I have experienced their toddler and early childhood program. I have seen my kids flourish under the teacher's guidance, patience, love, and humor(!), as well as surrounded by other students who are being taught how to be independent and kind to each other. I especially love the mixed aged classroom where older kids are taught to be patient and caring with the younger kids. I'm so glad I discovered greenhouse for my kids. Thank you teachers for all you do!! My kids Love going to school. In particular it's their teachers that are exceptionally awesome and caring. I hope the administrators do what they can to keep and retain them. The teachers are the lifeblood of this school and why parents recommend others to come.

When we did the initial walk through at MGH, we informed Michelle of my son's frustration and…read morebehavior issues and asked her how they would address this at school, she confidently told me she would take him outside to diffuse him. We also had numerous formal and informal meetings with Christine and Karinna, who always said they wanted to work with us. We were told we had to get outside help from a doctor, and when we told them it would take a while to see results (per the psychologist), they reiterated they were willing to help. After being called to be picked up after an hour of class on his 4th full day of school, I spoke with Christine and she told me what happened. I also called the director, Heather, to discuss our options. Christine didn't mention anything about Simon not being allowed to attend school anymore without extra help provided by his family, nor did Heather. On Tuesday morning, I sent Heather an email with tips of how to diffuse my son, thinking the teachers could use it as a guideline in helping to steer him in the right direction. Twenty minutes prior to school starting, she called to tell me that it wasn't possible for my son to get any more one on one from the teachers and since our nanny couldn't be at the school until 10am, the staff felt they weren't safe with my son in class without the help. Why Heather didn't call me Monday or even earlier Tuesday morning to let me know he was not able to attend that day still baffles me. Heather said she was waiting to talk to me at the site, but that would have only resulted in her turning us away as I had my daughter with me that morning and wouldn't have been able to stay to help.  I got my so ready that morning, we packed his lunch together, and I gave him the pep talk about Karinna not being in class, but got him excited for music class that day. If I wouldn't have sent that email, Heather wouldn't have called at all and we would have arrived at the school only for her to have told us the news in front of my son. How do you think he would have felt about that? I'm surprised that the director of a place that regards itself as fostering confidence in young children would reject a child to their face. The website states, "studies prove that the relationship between a caretaker and a child is more secure when it's longer. It supports the social and emotional development of a child. Whereas, frequent change in approach or caretakers can cause suffering and early depression in children." Heather and her staff gave my son one full day the first week and three full days the second week, calling us to pick him up on what would have been his fifth day at MGH.  If the email I had sent Tuesday morning were suggestions from an actual psychologist, would they have called to tell me you couldn't give him one on one attention to implement the strategies from a doctor? The meeting on Friday with the teachers suggested otherwise, as we were told they were ready to work with whatever care we found once an assessment was made. Christine informed me that she would have to call to have my son picked up from school if the kids felt unsafe. According to her, this happened for the first time on Monday even though he was called to be picked up three prior days of school. No one informed me he wouldn't be able to return without my nanny or a parent in the classroom after this one incident of him kicking in the direction of a child. I was under the impression that we would have to come get him if it happened again, but not that he couldn't return. The first I heard of this was twenty minutes before the start of class on Tuesday. I was caught of guard and it was very unprofessional. I am so glad this did not end up happening in front of my four year old son, as the director originally intended. I understand my so was not easy and required a lot of one on one. He has never been in anything full time all day. He has never been in a Montessori setting. I believe he was not given a fair chance to succeed. He was not even given an entire week. The MHG program is more geared toward families with Montessori backgrounds, with kids that are ready to do their work without much assistance. This should have been conveyed to us before we signed on, as we were open about his past behavior and experience. I hope in the future you are up front with parents regarding any children that may have special needs or behavioral problems.

Please also look the 1 & 2 star reviews for New Life Community Church under Yelp (some of which dates to over 6-15 years ago, which means this congregation/administration at New Life is complicit). They're unequipped to provide adequate care for your children nor keep your children safe. The head of the children's ministry, Tina Tribolet, who oversees New Life Preschool and their summer program Connecting Kids, is beyond rude as an educator and quite frankly shame on New Life for allowing her position as the children's pastor. Tina Tribolet removed my neurodivergent child from attending New Life under the pretense and I quote her verbatim that New Life is "not able to provide aid for such mental retardation." This statement from her left me in complete horror and shock. It worries me deeply that New Life has appointed a person that would make such a statement as the children's pastor and head of the children's ministry. (1) To parents with neurodivergent children, do not let Tina Tribolet groom you or your children into thinking your children is a problem that they're not. Her staff is uneducated and unequipped to guide your children with empathy and will isolate them as problematic. The children's ministry that oversees New Life Preschool and Connecting Kids does not allow for diversity and inclusion as they claim on the New Life website. I also question the credibility of Tina Tribolet in general as her staff Miss Luna left me a voicemail 2 hours prior to our conversation that completely contradicts her accusations towards my child. In the voicemail, Miss Luna stated my child was doing great that day with much improvement. Interestingly enough, I receive a call a bit later from Tina making wild accusations and that my child is no longer welcomed at New Life. It was during this conversation that Tina stated New Life no longer receives funding for my child's "mental retardation." Parents, I urge you to not subject your children to the scrutiny of her questionable ethics and practices. (2) To parents with children with medical conditions, there is a huge gap in staff to student ratio. Which needs to be brought to attention as they have one of the bigger facilities and play area in the nearby cities. Moreover, the staff that actually watches and interacts with the children are very young themselves. The staff evidently lacks teaching experience and leadership skills, which are both crucial to make fair judgement and compassionate support for our children. During bubble/water play day, my child bumped into another child as he caught bubbles/soap in his eyes and could not see. The other child, who has a history of seizures, ultimately fell and hit his head. From my conversation with Miss Taylor Harrison the day after, I want to make it very clear that there was no staff that actually witnessed this NOR was nearby to help the children. As a result, Miss Taylor scapegoated my child in what it seems as an attempt to avoid liability. My child said non of the staff questioned or even attempted to ask him what happened, and immediately pointed fingers at my child and punished him for their inability to maintain a controlled environment. After leaving New Life, my child was enrolled in a different facility right away and I received no complaints. The educator that runs the new facility said she had no idea what Tina Tribolet was talking about in regard to my child's behavior. Apparently New Life has a running reputation for how young and untrained their staff is. I have been meeting moms after moms that have had similar experiences with Tina Tribolet and cannot believe her rudeness and absolute audacity. I wish I knew about this before enrolling my child into New Life and I hope no other children come close to how badly Tina Tribolet made me, my child, and all other parents/children I've spoken to felt.

If I have another child, I would be satisfied to send them to this school again, as it aligns with my religious beliefs, and the director's personalized attention and care are evident.

I had 2 boys who graduated and currently a daughter who is in a 3 yo class and they've all had accidents. Plenty of them. Never heard a story like that. Anyway, if I could give 10 stars I would. I've been at this school every single day for the past 6 years and as a parent, I'm so thankful to have a place I trust with all 3 of my children. I can't say enough about Ms Kim and Ms Susan. It amazes me to see how much they truly love and care for each child. I can't even stand my own children sometimes (parents, ya feel me) and I get their names all mixed up. But these ladies seem to never miss a beat. They are so sweet and generous with their time and affection for every single kid. If you need to see how good they are, just see them on the first day of a new school year with crying kids everywhere. The teachers at CPC are so great. My kids learned sooo much, esp in the 3 yo class and PRE-K (Ms Hannah and Ms Grace are THE BEST!!!) Almost every kid will be reading by the time they graduate from pre-K and all of them will be ready to thrive in Kindergarten. My boys who graduated still miss this school and the food they served for lunch haha they always ask why I can't make it like the grandma at church And it's true... some people put their child's name on the waiting list as soon as they find out they're pregnant
