Director Amanda is excellent and responsive. My son was in the Pre-K room there and my daughter in the 2s and then Preschool Rooms. Megan is/was the Pre-K teacher and I adored her. She was open and up front with the parents. Which is always appreciated. Paulina was my daughter's teacher for the majority of the time she was there and I miss her. She was sunshine. A couple of things I didn't care for: When we'd pick up the kids (at 4:15) my daughter's preschool class was often mixed in with the Pre-K class. And the same when we'd drop them off in the morning. At those times, I kind of felt like they were never doing anything....always running around playing but not doing anything organized. And by running around playing I mean that it came across as complete chaos sometimes. In the end the school did not offer Kindergarten so that is why we pulled my kids out. The school is pretty new, considering the ages of many of the places around here...so I think in time and when there are more kids there, that the kink I mentioned above may work themselves out.

Left Handed Parents Finally Get Some Love!…read more A huge shoutout to the amazing care team at KinderCare Oswego, and especially Miss Ashlee, the Assistant Director! What started as a simple joke turned into one of those small moments that makes you realize how much the people caring for your kids actually pay attention. I'm left handed, and the sign in book was giving me the ultimate left handed struggle. Every time I signed in, I was getting ink all over my hand. I made a joke about it and mentioned how difficult it was, not really expecting anything to come from it. Well... Miss Ashlee heard me. She took the time to create a front and back sign in setup specifically for our kids' section so this left handed parent could finally sign in without looking like I had just fingerprinted a crime scene. It honestly made me laugh and smile at the same time. That small gesture says a LOT about the kind of people we have caring for our children. It's not just about childcare. It's about parent involvement, listening, communication, and making sure everyone feels heard and valued. When I was pregnant with our son, my husband and I thought that choosing a daycare would be super…read moreeasy. We live near a facility and assumed that our little guy would go there - but when we did our visit, it was just ok. Now what? A good friend sends her children to The Gardner School of Oak Brook and recommended the Naperville location to me. When we checked the school out, I cried over how much I loved it (and I'm not a crier - I'm super pale and get very blotchy; it's not cute). We signed him up immediately and have been happy with that decision ever since. First, the location is easily accessible from a variety of locations - we are in downtown Naperville, but have friends who are in Aurora, Sugar Grove, Wheaton, etc. The facility is secure and requires two passcodes before entering the main area. It's also extremely clean - I wish my house was that clean... :) But the most important part of TGS is the care and attention that the teachers and directors give the kids. My son started TGS when he was almost four months old, and even though I knew the school was wonderful, it was still scary to leave him for a full day. The teachers and directors are patient, kind, and caring - both with the students and the parents! They are always available for any questions and concerns throughout the day, and I definitely checked in a lot during those first few weeks of school. They are also available for advice - as a first-time parent, I had no idea when to transition my son to the next diaper size or how to introduce solid foods. The teachers helped us with everything, and have made parenting so much easier. TGS has an app that delivers updates throughout the day. I subscribe to all the updates, so I receive notifications when my son eats, has a diaper change, takes a nap, or does any of the fun activities that the teachers prepare for the kids. We also receive pictures during the day, and we love seeing our little guy having fun with his friends. Our two years at the school have been wonderful, and we plan to keep him at TGS until they kick us out :) Seeing our son make friends and learn so much every day has been more than worth the cost to attend, and we could not be happier with the school!
