Many years ago when I was thinking about homeschooling my daughter, I read up on many different educational practices. I came across the Montessori education and loved everything that I read about it. The montessori school methods they have taught me have improved my parenting. I have learned to listen to my children and consider their needs and how to redirect or train my kiddos. To expect my kids want independance in their abilities toncare for their space, themselves and others. They are curious, informative, moldable and happy. I am amazed at how calm the classroom environments are. They truly are little communities that respect each other and care for each other. Every teacher and aid that I have encountered seem to really enjoy what they do. I am impressed.

Many daycare centers require a set…read moreschedule, but this center allows us the flexibility that we need for our changing work schedules. The kids seem happy there, and they do fun projects. Management has changed recently, and the front office seems to be running more smoothly now (although I wasn't unhappy before). Teacher turnover is probably typical for daycare centers. My children's teachers have changed a few times in the last year. But I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, since they will have numerous different teachers once they start elementary school. If I had one complaint it would be location. I like that they aren't located right on a busy road, but there is an auto repair center right next door, which creates some environmental/air quality concerns. Overall I would recommend the facility.

We were quoted one tuition rate, but shortly after enrollment, it increased without warning. When I questioned it, I was told, "It's only a $50 difference, and if you can't afford it, we can unenroll them." That response was hurtful and unprofessional. Tuition is over $1,600/month for toddlers and increased again starting July, yet the meals provided are minimal, often just half a Nutri-Grain bar and faucet water. Parents also have to pay out of pocket for anything extra, making it hard to see where the high tuition is going. Despite the high cost, my son struggled during his kindergarten readiness test, unable to count to 20 or say his ABCs, basic skills I expected him to learn. I've since withdrawn him from the center. I cannot recommend this location. The care and education do not match the price parents are paying.

That felt misleading, to say the least. It would have been helpful to receive accurate information up front, rather than going through the emotional and logistical upheaval of preparing for enrollment, only to be blindsided. They know how to say all the right things in the beginning. Honestly, their approach reminded me more of a sales pitch than an educational process.

I did my research on our area preschools (9+ schools) and ultimately decided to have Hosanna! as our preschool for many reasons. The school classrooms are large, filled with fun toys, treehouses, and interactive play. The teachers are the most loving and caring and truly know my daughter and let her personality shine. The director makes sure you know everything that is going on and the communication between parents and teachers is comforting. The preschool offers many activities for parents to join throughout the year, which have been very special moments. The outside playground is well kept and continues to grow with new activities added, like this year's Mud Kitchen! There is also a large indoor gym for when it's raining or too cold. The cost is average for the Elgin area and worth every penny! Our (almost) two years of preschool have been so enjoyable and my daughter has grown academically as well as socially/emotionally. NO ONE should have to worry about their child getting hurt by a so called teacher. I'm disgusted with this place and all that work there. Save your kid the trauma. The director Katie and her entire staff are passionate, hands on and have excellent communication. We transferred to Active Childcare from a different private daycare and it was the best decision we could have made. Every day our child is excited to go to "school" and adores his teachers. Walking down the hallways, you can feel the warm, safe learning environment. The facility is HUGE in size and they place an emphasis on movement, play and daily time outdoors. Each week we receive an education plan with what the focuses are. We are impressed by the carry over from classroom to our home. Our son is about to count to 10, sing his ABCs, and tell us about his day--and he's not even 2! AC provides such a caring, structured environment. We get updates constantly throughout the day of what our child eats, photos, videos etc. The teachers are always accessible and extremely responsive with their communication. They have been extremely kind and accommodating for our family, especially when it comes to scheduling. My child is my whole world. Who I trust him with is the most important decision and I chose and continue to choose Active Childcare.
