I first learned of La Strada when walking to Gastro Telefonica with a friend in early 2017. It…read moreseemed decent enough from the exterior to give it a try and I am glad I did in August 2017. I brought a group of around twenty here after trying Cine Tonala and all were impressed.
The easy way to get to La Strada is to walk east on Revolucion and once at eight make a left and it is around four blocks north on the left.
I first noticed the giant mural on the wall after walking in which I have attached. A lady, who seemed to be the owner, spoke to me about the size of my party and we quickly put together two tables for twenty-three people. Menus were brought out as well as bread and a tomato sauce to dip it in. Two friends and I split a bottle of wine and it was delicious. I ordered the Camarones a la Carbonera and it was great. The sauce, pasta and size of the shrimp made it an entrée I would order again.
As the host, I went around to all at different times and everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered. But what no one enjoyed was the heat, hence the loss of a star. After we requested if they had any fans to turn on, we were told they would close the doors and turn on the air conditioning. It was sweltering before we arrived, so why was it not already running? If you are going to dine here, come in a cooler month or a cooler time of the day.
And as I say about many places that I have tried in Tijuana, I am already ready to return.
