The food sucked. I…read morecame here for a surprise birthday party for one of my gfs in Dec '18. We had a private room and a special group menu consisting of entrée (soup or salad) + main (4 choices) + coffee + dessert for 34$ plus tax and tip (alcohol and other beverages not included). The potage soup served as entrée was ok. Just ok. Nothing to go out of one's way for. Definitely the better choice over the salad tho. I chose the pizza as my main, uninterested by the other options. The pizza was just...i mean how do u f up a 4-cheese n bacon pizza fer crissake?? I smothered it in (seemed like Kraft Shredded) "fresh" parmesan they offer and that saved it a little bit, but barely. The leftovers were inedible. They did put real bacon on it though and not the fake sh*t tho so bonus points for that. The dessert was a f*kin joke, nasty lil piece of overly spiced apple cake with a dollop of ice cream literally in a small baby-food-jar. Pitiful and gross. I tried a bite and offered it up with no takers. Coffee that came with dessert. Well it didn't suck but that's it. For a place named Fratello I expected a better coffee game. The other plates my friends had: (see photo of group menu I took for actual names of dishes) - The cavatelli with celery in cream and lemon sauce, such a FAIL it's incredible and yet it was definitely the most edible item served. I need to go on a bit of a rant of this supposed best dish, so please forgive me. The celery was sliced thin and RAW just tossed into the pasta as if it was supposed to somehow compliment or accompany the tastes in someway...it did not. It was distracting and offputting and an extremely curious choice imo. The lemon in cream sauce, I was a fan ... But wtf did they do to their cavatelli for it to be so limp and stringy?! The sundried tomatoes sparse and just not enuf to save the dish. My friend absolutely adored her meal of it and polished it damn near to the last bite. (Which prompted me to tell her she must come eat with us yelpers from now on because she clearly has never had a good meal in her life if she thinks that was good, let alone delicious. And I'm not being a snob here, I am seriously perplexed how one could actually enjoy that meal?! McDs 10 times out of 10 when presented with the choice of this or that, not even a contest.) - The fish, well it didn't taste fishy and i liked the texture (keep in mind I hate seafood) but it was so incredibly bland there was nothing to it. The veggies it came with were delicious but so few of them, not worth the price. - The chicken: the only plate offered I didn't get to try. My friend called it "good". Then she went on to tell me how much spicy mayo she used to try n finish it because it was quite dry. She ran outta mayo so stopped eating it.... Um no, that doesn't sound that good to me afterall, lol. Island prices on the south shore is pretty lame but understandable considering less clientele and still hafta pay rent n whatnot, but then to serve that low quality generic schlop seemed like insult to injury. Loved the decor and ambiance. Absolutely adored our cozy private room with glass doors with access to a/v equipment (tvs, projectors, sound system etc). Enabled my friend to play a gorgeous slideshow she prepared (of photos of us all throughout the years) with music. Absolutely adored the service: friendly, spot on, saved the night (if you ask me) and great team work ! But that menu for groups eeeeeeesh! What a disaster! I would be willing to come back n give them a shot à-la-carte to see if it's just their group-game that sux n not the entire menu. It is a very nice classy place, with a great staff. I really did wana give them 5 stars, but I simply can't! And I do wish them luck, I think they're guna need it.

Sitting on a prime location beside the Parc des Rapides, in Lasalle, Riventino offers top notch, fresh home-made Italian fare and very decent prices. This place has been here for over 40 years so that's got to tell you something, given the fierce competition in Montreal's restaurant scene. You have to be good in order to have any longevity in this city of foodies. Friend and I came here after an evening of walking and hanging out by the Rapids, what I noticed right away was that the balcony planters were all growing fresh herbs. I think it was the owner who served us, really friendly service overall. I spotted a homemade pasta dish with lamb ragout, that's not common and I'll probably give it a go the next time I'm here. Nonetheless, this first time I had their Riventino pizza, a homemade thin-crust pizza with mushrooms, cheese, and pork. When I asked for hot chili flakes, the owner asked if I like things really hot. I do so he offered the really hot chili oil. Pieces of sliced red chillies marinated and sitting in extra-virgin olive oil, infusing the oil with the heat of the chillis. It was the perfect condiment to my pizza. I should add the pizza was a perfect meal size as well. Not so filling that you feel you can't walk afterwards but just enough to satisfy. My friend had the fettucine dish made with artichoke pesto and chicken. She loved it. With bruscetta and bread offered right way, a staff that makes you feel welcome, a great view of the river, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again.

Normally not my style of cuisine, I was curious about their Tartar Trilogy and I decided to try it. This dish is only available on Tuesdays, so in this case I had to plan ahead. They have an authentic wood-burning oven that you can't help but notice immediately on entering. After being seated by the waiter and given a choice of coffee or cappuccino, I was served a modest time later. It came on a plate, with tartar of salmon on mangoes, tartar of tuna on avocados and tartar of beef. It came with croutons (sliced not diced) and leafy green salad. I found it tasty even if the portions were kinda small. There was a mini cannoli for dessert. A little pricey at $25.00 plus tax but as a culinary experience, it was interesting.

Considering the fact that overall the food is pretty average but the prices for the main courses are around $35 (before tax & tip), it's overpriced. Based on my experience, it was my definitely my first and last time there. If you want to eat stellar Italian food in Lasalle, there is a BYOB restaurant on Dollard near Newman that has been there for at least 15 years. I don't think it's fair to name it in this review. This restaurant is in the same price range and the quality of the dishes fare from great to exceptional. For those readers familar with Lasalle, you know which establishment I'm talking about.
