The floor aids were improperly trained, the hospice nurse was not notified in a timely manner by the staff, and our father was made to suffer unnecessarily due to poor management and a lack of clear communication. No one should experience on hospice care what our father did - he was in pain, in terror, and choking on his own oral secretions. We had to call the hospice care nurse, ourselves in order to make sure proper meds were administered, and that he finally was at rest, no longer struggling to breathe, no longer frightened. I sent an email with all of the pertinent information related to my father's end of life care to the management of this assisted living facility, and have yet to hear back from them.
