I'm really torn about this place. There are some excellent features but also some that I,…read morepersonally, aren't keen on. (Of course this is totally subjective and those features that I dislike might be considered assets to others). That said, here's my take on this small café/casual restaurant.
First, the positives: the place is super cute and clean. It has the clean aesthetic of a NYC Soho cafe (if you can imagine that!): white subway tile walls, warm wood accents, artisan jute baskets, a long central table and a few smaller round tables by the front door, with a wall-mounted counter at the rear with barstool-like tall chairs. Semi-sparse, clean decor with a muted, earth-toned palette. I've attached some photos so you, the reader, can get a feel for the interior.
The menu is comprised of enough items and beverages to satisfy most diners here for a casual breakfast, brunch or lunch. Breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, rice bowls, a few salads, and a few different sandwiches. I'm attaching photos of the menu (the menu is posted on the wall).
The food is pretty good, depending on your tastes and what you order. My cousins had been here before and liked it enough to return. It was my first time here). My cousins had a kale salad (the small size was still pretty big!) and a grilled cheese sandwich. They loved them. I was less than impressed with my breakfast sandwich. Yes, it looked great and the taste was good, too. But the scrambled eggs were loose and as soon as I took a bite, it started dripping. Copiously. It was a mess. Delicious, but so so messy and drippy. I ate half and left the rest (the bun was soggy by that point anyhow). My latte was delicious, though, and we all loved our coffees.
My cousins shared a scone and they said it was wonderful. Looking at their display of muffins and croissants and scones, I'd say their pastry offerings are perhaps a highlight here. Along with the coffees.
The guy who took our order at the counter was super nice, and our server was great, too.
Now, the not-so-great parts: Sure, the cafe interior is cute and all, but it is not the best lay-out for comfortable dining - especially if one is older, handicapped or with mobility issues, if one has young kids, or if one is hard of hearing. The long central table has seats with no backs. Not great for a lot of people. And since you're sharing a table with lots of other people, of course there's no privacy if you want to talk about anything remotely personal. My party was seated at one of the few smaller tables at the front by the door, so we had more privacy and seats with backing (we got lucky in getting this table!), but still, by noon-ish when the place filled up and all the seats and tables were occupied, it got really loud in there. There were three young women seated at the table beside us and they were so loud, I am not exaggerating, my cousins and I could not hear each other. And we were only a few feet away from each other. I tell you this so you know, if you want a place to talk to your dining companions freely and clearly, where you'll hear each other and have some modicum of privacy, this is not the place.
The prices of dishes here is on the high side. (Not surprising, since rents are sky-high in this area).
As mentioned, my breakfast sandwich was not the best, but other dishes ordered were good. So the food is hit or miss here (IMO).
Would I return? Perhaps if I see that there is a table free by the front so I don't have to sit at the shared central table, sure, I'd come here for a pastry and coffee. If it's busy or for a meal? Probably not.
