Definitely left a bad feeling about this place regardless of a few of the good teachers that do work here my son met in the teen summer program. As a non profit based accredited establishment it just still doesn't sit well with me..The way everything was handled after my written complaint against the teacher was atrocious. It's a lot to process in ones heart and mind when something like this happens and the situation was It's a long story but In short.A glass blowing teacher who was working with the school reached out to me by telephone because my 16year old sons mild stimming (he is autistic) was making the 4 adult members of the class uncomfortable and they as well as the teacher seemed to conclude that the place was not for him because the other students and herself thought he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol... He has a mild fluttering of his hands and occasionally giggles subconsciously.. A common trait in folks with ADHD and on the autism spectrum. The teacher added insult to injury by claiming to "know how to work with autistic children and wanted to work with him 1 on 1" and she didn't think he was a good fit because he "could get hurt" Like I should trust a person like that 1 on one.Made it through the call and just let her rattle on then started up a email to Barbra the president of the SWAC at the time. FYI he has taken 2 welding classes prior from another company and been in metal jewelry making classes and worked with furnaces before. He is quite mature and intelligent. To Infantilize people on the spectrum IS discriminatory.To assume they are on drugs IS discrimination and gross. The arts community should be more accepting. This info I held back because the president elected of the school Barbra at was experiencing illness and I had sympathy for the situation but everything about this situation was mishandled.The theme was to try and prove my son was incompetent of being in a class without a appointed attendant by the school to watch over him only there wasn't any available and they didn't allow him to take any other classes he was signed up for because they concluded by the advice of the glass blower woman he was unfit and a danger to the class.This was untrue. Offered me most of my money back with the exception of a $900 credit they never honored.Still get mail and emails asking for contributions but when they redid their website my credit and history of purchases just disappeared... What happened was disability discrimination and injustice. Ran off with my credit for a $900 class too.Disappeared completely and I am not about to call them to have some bureaucrat mamm me and tell me how they won't return my money because I'm sure they have no record of it now.. Try and do what you can to ensure a good life for your kids and when you are met with this kind of thing it's not only discouraging but heartbreaking too. Made sure my son didn't know a thing about the awful things the teacher said but he was disappointed the classes got canceled and just didn't feel like a safe space for him anymore so never used my $900 credit of what they didn't refund me.

As far as I know, it is the only place in San Antonio , outside of the Universities and colleges , that consistently offers open drawing sessions in a professional studio, using live figure models. It even has open session for portraits on Friday mornings, using live models. Additionally it offers adult classes in oil painting, for beginners, intermediate, and more advanced painters. It has classes for children through its "Coppini Kids" program, and a "master class" in drawing for kids 11 - 17. As if this isn't enough, it offers workshops for members and the public, taught by popular and world-class artists who come in from across the country. If an artist is focused on representational art, the Coppini is a great place to investigate!

Going into her second year she never hesitates to go despite having to wake up early on a weekend. She is in art and theater where they are always brainstorming ideas for new projects and plays. The staff delves into topics that are relevant to their age group. Last year they tackled the subject of death. It was a sensitive topic but handled with much care and reverence by teachers. They keep parents informed about upcoming themes and events. Students are required to maintain good grades in school and must have good attendance. There is an application process and students are selected in order to attend. Some of their artwork goes on display in the galleries and is also for sale. This is a great way for students to learn about the business side of art. I'm proud to have my kid enrolled here. She has made friends from other parts of town, diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. They are an inclusive institution and make sure everyone feels accepted and welcome. If your child is creative I highly Recommend Say Sí.

I had even called the school and emailed my advisor once I finally found out who she was. In the end, I had to contact the advising office to get a group email sent out so that I could get a response. This woman proceeded to say that she has tried multiple times to contact me (I have no messages from her), say this is a recurring pattern (this is my first semester here and i have never received any messages from her this entire semester), and ask the other administrator how they should address this as if I'm not in the email as well. She also asks if she should send proof, which I would appreciate from her because I missed my mandatory group advising due to this. In my opinion, this is highly unprofessional and the amount of miscommunication and lack of responses from the staff at this school does not reflect the quality of service they offer.

They informed the parents that we no longer needed to keep close tabs on our children cause, and I quote "they got it" and that they would keep a close eye on the students to make sure they were adjusting well to leaving home. They said the teachers and staff would keep an eye for changes in grades and personality, well that did not happen, at least not to us. It started with poor wifi connection for the students with glitches in their system that caused assessments to get lost. My kid was a straight A student and by the end of the semester she had low Cs and and a F. Needless to say, I was shocked. I know that most of the blame lays on my kid but I wish the school would of reached out to my kid to see what's going on. Now we're struggling with getting the grades up and trying to not lose her scholarship. Praying we don't cause if she does, we will have to drop out.

The VA gave us an…read moreadditional 12 months of schooling and I decided to come here to earn a new degree, and it has been a nightmare. Admissions is kicking everything back although I have sent them everything as requested. They are now asking for my graduate degree transcript although they previously told me that graduate transcripts were not needed cause they would not be able to apply the for credits. They claim I'm missing another transcript but when I showed them proof they had been received, the advisor went to the mailroom and "found it". They initially denied me veteran benefits and in-district tuition because they said everything else had to be completed first before I could register for classes but they have registered me for a class charging me "out of district" fees. I am seriously considering finding a school online because if getting enrolled is like this, what does that say about the classes when they start? I had to come on campus to get everything figured out which is sad because they didn't ask for one piece of paperwork yet when I submitted everything online initially, all forms were denied.

Alamo Community College District includes San Antonio College, St. Phillips College, and Palo Alto College. There might be a few others in there too. But it's a great place to learn a skill, try something new. The parking is always challenging at any of the colleges across town. But they have interesting campuses that are functional and fun to hang out with. I think each one has their own student center and kind of a quad to hang out on. They offer a variety of courses, and depending on what you want to study, this might be a good way to get an Associates Degree, or perhaps transfer the credits to a major university, or even just go for the sake of learning something new! My favorite thing about the Alamo Community College District (asides from paying for it with my property taxes) is the radio station out of San Antonio College, 90.1 KSYM. Tune in!
