Have stayed here before but was a bit rougher this time. It is a dated property and all the lights in the room were glaring cold fluorescents (a warm color tone is more pleasing) and in odd spots in the living room portion of the suite. The electricity was pretty iffy, especially figuring out which switch went to which light or fan, adjusting the fan speed, etc. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very skimpy. The sausage looked burnt and swimming in grease so did not try. Overall OK but might pick a different chain next time. read more

We checked in with a truck and 16 foot trailer with all our things in it. We parked the truck along the fence in parking lot feeling it would be safe. We were told we had to park it in the parking lot adjacent to the hotel. Ok. We are travelers and this was uncomfortable. There is not much in Dalhart, and I needed a place to crash for a night. The La Quinta was the best option. It is the nicest chain hotel on the block, and it also has the most well-lit parking lot in the middle of the night. My room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast, WiFi, and parking are all free. There is a little pool and fitness center. I skipped out on breakfast and all the other amenities since I was here solely to get some sleep. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this place or being in the middle of nowhere, but it gets the job done. read more

Smelled bad, literally like onions and mild. They overcharged my card by 20+ dollars each room (I reserved 2). Didn't resolve this matter until 4-5 days later....but at least it was resolved. Thermostat was broken, we had to adjust the temp using our screwdriver. Even then the room didn't get cool enough. Breakfast was a joke. There are measures that can be taken to ensure a real continental breakfast (just look at Best Western in Amarillo, perfect!). Will be looking for other places when going through Dalhart in the future. read more

Asked for the best room available. Was told I was getting an executive suite and charged $10 more than my friends who got the basic room. The sheet in the pullout couch had a huge damaged spot. It looked like a big stain was, but was actually a thin spot you could see through. There was urine on the outside of the toilet. The mini fridge was wobbly and the cabinet under it was all gouged up. There was a big stain on the formica piece between the bed and the couch. We had been on the road for hours and I was too tired to ask about changing rooms. When I mentioned the issues at checkout, the desk clerk was amazing. She handled the situatiin gracefully and professionally. When she brought the head of housekeeping to speak to me, she was very defensive and rude, telling me several time no one had been in that room for three days exceot maintenance men. Not sure why she felt that mattered. The desk clerk discounted our room, which was very nice and not something I expected to happen. I just wanted them to know I felt way overcharged for the sub-par room we were given. Breakfast was not great. Coffee was cold at 7:45am. Breakfast area smelled like the feedlots surrounding town. Stay at the Days Inn down the road if you must find lodging here. This place is NOT worth their premium price tag. read more

Nothing special. If you need a bed for the night, it suffices. Be aware there is a rail yard direction behind the hotel. Those thunderstorms you hear in the night, aren't thunderstorms. Just okay. Older building with a few updates. They have updated just enough to not make you leave as soon as you walk in. The vanity and toilet looks new but the tub not so much. The beds were comfy but the AC unit made quite a bit of noise. The breakfast was not good but about what you would expect. If you are here for a short sleep it's fine, if staying longer probably pay more and pick the new Hampton Inn across the street. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by our stay. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to hotels and I had no complaints. We got in late and room was a bit warm but it was a nice added touch that the room had an overhead fan. Beds were clean and comfortable. Two different type pillows to choose from. Enough room for a roll away with our 2 queen beds. Was very happy with the shower and updated faucet. Pantene. Huge selection for breakfast. I will definitely try to stay there again when passing through. read more

This hotel is by far the nicest in Dalhart. I'm on my second stay currently and the rooms are always clean and the staff are always incredibly nice. There is also no pet fee, which is great! Stayed her about two weeks ago while traveling with family. Family was able to book online. We were unable to book online separately so we kept trying. It got closer to our time to stay so we tried calling directly before getting another room in town. After checking in with our family, we realized our same room was about $75 more because we called directly about a week out and they booked online over a month out. The only reason she booked online is because she called the hotel and the lady at the front desk told her to book online because it was cheaper. That is a horrible business practice for employees to tell guests. I have called and spoken with the manager and he refuses to match our rate or even work with me. This does not even take into account our room had an odor, the ice maker didn't have any ice, and the hot tub was not functioning. I am not a big proponent of 1 star reviews, but I am also not a big proponent of an establishment having poor customer service and having no options. I would absolutely not stay here again due to their management. read more

This Hotel is a GREAT PLACE to stay! It has rooms on the inside (so ladies that's a bonus for security) and it has been updated! Perks inside the standard room are an overhead light AND CEILING FAN!!! The staff are super nice, professional and are a reflection of their General Manager. The rooms are clean and ready. The food is hot and the coffee is ready! If you aren't aware, Dalhart Tx is the crossroads for the railway, so don't be alarmed by the trains. There are not many places to stay in Dalhart, as it is not an entertainment Mecca!, but this La Quinta met our needs. We were able to bring our pooch at no extra charge, which was a must on this trip. The hotel had new carpeting, great mattresses, and a nice breakfast. Further, the front desk personnel were very nice. We could hear the road noise to a small degree, but it did not bother us. CF read more

The hotel would have had four stars, but they do a lousy job of keeping the breakfast bar fresh and full and our keys didn't work at one of the doors. The room was really nice and big but I waited for ten minutes for the To bring out more eggs, bacon and biscuits. We ended up going to McDonald's. read more

Such a relief! There aren't many hotel options between Dalhart, TX and Clayton, NM. Most of those options get low reviews. This hotel is clean, in a great location, and the service at the front desk was outstanding. Plenty of parking for large trucks in a lot right next door. The description of the breakfast sounds really good, so I'm going to give that a strong rating too, and if after tomorrow morning it turns out not good...I'll post an update :) read more

The reception was very nice, the breakfast was fairly deluxe: sausage, eggs, waffles, biscuits, cereal, yogurt, bagels, juice. However, they provided no soap or shampoo, which for $115, I expected to get! This is a flea bag hotel. My daughter got scabies from staying just one night at the nasty hotel. There were fleas in the room, dog hair all over the floor, the toilet didn't work and neither did the television. It was absolutely nasty. read more

Driving thorough this very rustic town with cattle I stop at La Quinta which look a little better than other motels in town but still...La Quinta. I ask for a room for a single adult and they wanted to charge a ripoff of $145 a night!!! I stayed at a holiday inn at Flagstaff for $125 including a great breakfast. Don't give this people you hard earn money. Across the street is Motel 8 for half the price. Great service, clean and fair priced for a tiny cow town. I stopped here after a long day of driving. The front desk person was so nice and helpful. The hotel is clean and attractive. My room was very comfortable with great pillows and soft sheets. Driving from fort Riley KS to Arizona. Stopped here for a night because we have a dog and we usually like la Quinta. Room was fine. Beds and pillows not that great. Only one room available upon check in on a Tuesday at 4 pm was odd but it happened. Had to pay $170 for the room, way overpriced for what it is. read more
