Not sure what is going on here but this place doesn't even deserve half a star…read more On a super hot day with no one in line, we ordered two waffle cones and were asked to pay $17. We asked how that was possible so the girl voided the transaction and charged us what was likely the real price for ice cream. The first ice cream came out after about 8 minutes in a regular cone and we said we asked for waffle cones. The girl looked confused and huffed at us. After getting it in a cone, it was already melting all over. We also asked for a cup of water for our dogs and the girl gave us a bottled water and said it was $2.25. We said we don't want a bottle just a dish for the dogs. Again she looked at us like we were speaking a foreign language which prompted the other two staff members to come to her rescue and try to figure out what was going on, what we had paid for and what we actually wanted. I can't imagine how long it would take to get an order of food here if it took us 15 minutes to get two cones and a dish of water. Such a frustrating experience on a hot day!

This is the real deal down here on the lower West Man. Or is this the Central Man? It's some kind of Man, as in Manitoba, friends. Anyway. Super good food, good service and a nice local clientele that keep this place busy on a Saturday afternoon. Ice cream, snacks, burgers, BLTs (I believe), and all kinds of other neat things like sweet potato fries. Don't forget that Highway 2 is just as fine as the Trans Canadian, just more beautiful and a slower pace. Here is their facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/The-Glenboro-Drive-In-755895251175415/

I have asked in the past why this is something that's needed, as it isn't needed at most other places. I was given an answer and have never asked again. My husband, who works away, asked the same question and was met with being hung up on and blocked. Upon being hung up on, I explained to my husband what had previously been explained to me about this restaurant being scammed previously and how it's just easier for them to have the extra security. When I called from my own phone to place an order, I was berated about my husband asking this question and barely able to answer for myself. I informed the owner, Chris, multiple times that I wanted to just order pizza and try to diffuse the situation, however he persisted and escalated the situation. When he was finished saying his piece, he hung up on me. The entire interaction was extremely unprofessional. It's unfortunate I will no longer be able to eat locally anymore due to a lack of being able to have a conversation and human understanding with one another. Hopefully they treat their other guests with more understanding when being asked questions about unorthodox procedure. This was a very disappointing interaction.

We learned a lot about the history of this cafe, Brandon's downtown, its support towards the LGBTQ+ community, and it being a nice social event spot during nights and weekends. I went for an iced tea here, as it wasn't too cold of a day. Many others went for their coffee, and they all liked it. I also liked the iced tea, it was the perfect amount of sweetness. I always like supporting local business when I visit new cities, and this place is no exception. They deserve your support here if you're ever around Brandon's downtown area.

You can really taste the quality in every bite. I especially love their cold drinks. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Since Brandon is my hometown, the staff made sure to make my visit back extra special by personally welcoming me back "home" and chatting with me about what has changed in the city and what has remained the same ever since I moved out. It's the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the moment. Very Friendly Manitoba if you ask me. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Chez Angela is a must-visit spot in Brandon. Easily one of the best cafés in town.
