Came here on the advice of a friend. She said it was real good. I did not like it. No real flavor to speak of. Server was playing on his phone the whole time. Also heard the servers having a conversation at the bar area and while it was in Spanish they were talking vulgar language about a person. (Not going into detail but there was some serious cursing going on near the customers) salsa was eh. Best part of the meal was the tea and the shrimp from the fajitas. Will not go back. My kids speak better Spanish than me and would know what they were saying if that is a regular occurrence. read more

Good atmosphere, Damm good Margarita (and I don't even like margaritas) Clean dining area. Good service. My only problem was that the food and table salsa was voided of any spice. No jalapeño at a mexican restaurant was weird. I thought I had stepped into the twilight zone or something. I left disappointed and confused. This most the most exceptional service I have ever had. We sat at the bar and got served by Joslin . Ordered drinks. Ordered our food and appitizer and got them in about 2 minutes. Came to have dinner with my grandma, the parking lot was completely full, but we decided to come inside to check out the wait. Got to the door no wait at all. The server was super prompt and friendly our food was out within 10 mins even though the were packed. ai highly recommend this place. The food was great as well I always aim for chile relleno at places and the steak chile relleno was the way ro go. I recommend this place 100%. Food was delicious! We are from Texas and are scared to try Mexican food in other states because we accustomed to the deliciousness that is Tex-mex. However, La Rumba did not disappoint. We had queso ( the menu called it cheese dip) and it was made with white cheese and it was very good. We ordered beef fajitas for 2 and it was a very large portion. Well worth the price. Horrible service. Menu was confusing and all over the place so we just asked a server for a regular asada burrito. We got two drenched chewy steak strips wrapped in flour tortilla. If you have few hours to waste I guess this might be the place for you. We can't judge the food because we were waiting for 45 mins before we asked for our check to pay for soft drinks and left headed to the one Mexican restaurant we know has great food and fast service 10 mins away in Vinton. Maybe it's good, maybe not but I'm fair and always give credit where it's due! The bathrooms need to be cleaned, there was a water leak in the ceiling as soon as you walk in there's a trash can to catch it you have to dodge and the waiters/waitresses were running around and weren't serving anything other than chips with salsa and drinks (took 5 mins to get anyone to our table to get a drink order). Get your staff together! Service is slow & your bathroom needs attention. I won't be back. I had high hopes due to the great reviews. Hope y'all get it together!!!!! read more

I was highly disappointed with this restaurant. My family and I were coming from a long trip, and we wanted a good dinner. Once we were seated it toon the waitress about half an hour to get out drinks ordered. That wasn't even the worst part, the food also took long to arrive. Not to mention that when I wanted water as my drink it tasted like tap water that had been submerged with chlorine. It also smelled bad. I'm not even done yet, the food was cold and it looked like we had gotten left overs that were reheated. There were so many waiters and waitress just walking around and I had my hand raised for a couple minutes until I was finally approached by one of them. For about 5 people it was more then $100, meaning it was very expensive. To keep it short; my experience in this restaurant was terrible. read more

Good food; inconsistent service. First time, service was awesome. The next couple of times, we've had to refill our own water because our server disappeared. The food has always come out very fast though. Steak fajitas are really good, but make sure you ask for jalapenos if you want any spice, as they are not spicy at all. Good flavor though. read more

Stopped for a Mexican fix! Had to call out for service. Three wait staff were sitting at table on their phones. Ordered the Rumba dip which was delicious ! This use to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Sulphur but NEVER will I go back after the evening we had there the other night! Everything was going good we got seated quickly with no waiting (they wasn't busy anyways) our waitress ( Hispanic lady) came promptly and took our drink order (waters and two margaritas and one kid coke) and I ordered a lrg cheese dip! Our waters came and then we placed our order for dinner..... waited for 15 min no appetizer or margaritas... two Hispanic men walked in and sat and placed order with same waitress within 5 min they had their margaritas and cheese dip! Our food came out and I asked the waitress to cancel the cheese dip but I wanted the margaritas. I was trying to have patience. She rolled her eyes and walked away! Go to eat my dinner and the food is cold! I ordered a steak fajita salad and the meat was super cold and the cheese on my beans didn't even melt a little bit due to them being cold too! When she came back( with NO drinks) I got super annoyed and asked why they have been served before us when we were here first and why is my food cold? She didn't even apologize she looked at me dumb so I asked for a manager and she walked away. A manager came and I explained my problem and she apologized and took away our food and took care of the bill for us! I told her I would pay for my sons chicken and fries since he ate it but she said no it was on them. The waitress walked past us again to the other two gentlemen and started talking Spanish to them. I'm guessing she didn't think I could understand her so she called us "difficult white people" and I smiled at her and told her to kiss my butt "Bessemer Gola"! ( her face was priceless when she realized that I could understand and speak Spanish) And walked away! I was so mad when I left! That waitress was very unprofessional and ill even say she was racial profiling on us because we are white. But that's ok I will not go back there and I'll let all my friends know! read more

Stopped by this place on the way back to Texas from South Carolina. We were all missing good Mexican food and decided to give it a shot. This place has great service and excellent food, reminded us of our favorite restaurant back home. Good salsa, white cheese queso, perfectly seasoned beef and chicken, giant burritos... It would be nice if somebody informed you that "lunch" cost an additional $2 because it comes with meat. Menu doesn't say "chicken or steak". But should you chose the options you want, be prepared to pay extra to have any type of meat in it. And to wait 15 mins for the waiter to take your order. Disappointed read more

I reserved La Rumba to celebrate my wife's birthday during thanksgiving time while transiting through Lake Charles area. It was a special moment with 20 plus people. The food was good and service was pretty acceptable. However, after the whole celebration we forgot to pick the greeting card and gift cards we got from friends and family. We left lake charles and remembered about it next day and called the restaurant about it. They said they found it and they will send it to my home address. I appreciated the fact that they were willing to do that and was willing to pay for that. Since that time i have called numerous times in the past couple of months to the Manager Gustavio about it and he kept saying he will send them next day. Now they come up with another story that they cannot find it. I hope they can send us our belongings someday. I will update this post once i receive it giving example of their integrity if that happens. read more

Went here twice and both times I had a good server. There was no wait time for a table and the food is really good. There prices are really cheap too so you get a lot for what you pay for. The only thing I don't recommend are there pina colado. It's too sweet and no alcohol. read more

I have been to LaRumba several times and have enjoyed every dish I tried; large portions and very tasty. The service and atmosphere was pleasant and the prices are very reasonable.
